Correlating a S&P 500 type index of big name players that shows trading is lame.
Bought this up as GWS should lose tonight and will possibly outperform the index this year.
No opinions here. All just raw data and technical analysis.

The S&P (stealing players) index going back to 1994.

Nathan Buckley. Swapped for Chris Scott.
Brassy go on to win 3 flags. CS plays in 2.
Pies/Buckley 0
Fraser Gherig. Eagles get Kerr who was awesome. Couple of grand finals.
Saints didn't do much.
Leigh Colbert. North never make another GF.
We became awesome.
Chris Judd. Swapped for Kennedy.
Kennedy 2 Grand Finals.
Carlton with Judd suck a bit of arse.
Gary Ablett. Geelong win flag very next year.
Suns suck arse forever.
Buddy. Hawks win flag very next year.
Buddy/ Swans 0 flags to date.
Danger. Adelaide make GF the very next year.
Ryan Griffin gets stolen by GWS.
Dogs win only 2nd flag in history the very next year.
Lids. Buggers off to GWS. Tigers win next 3 out of 4 flags
Tim Kelly. Cats make GF very next year.
Jeremy Cameron looks to slightly out perform the index if we manage to finish above GWS.

Index clearly shows getting a huge big name player in will f**k you up a bit.

*I give mods permission to sticky the index to the top for future reference.

No they didn't

Griffen & pick 6 to GWS for Boyd during the 2014 trade period

In 2015 the Bulldogs finish 6th after the H&A season before being knocked out by Adelaide in the Elimination final

Go into 2016 and Boyd plays an integral part in the Bulldogs run to their second flag

Bulldogs clearly won that trade, but did have to pay a price to bring in the #1 draft pick from 2013

Don't worry about that. Minor technicality.

Actually they made me think of another one to add to the index.
Leigh Colbert. Another captain. Biggest trade of that year.
We get 3 flags.

Slightly selective. The Dogs had a big trade in as well..

Are you saying its trade that is the issue or the big name. Lynch has done well at Rich

Yes the big trades.
I'm just giving out raw data. Interpret it how you will.
Feel free to find any minor exceptions.

I'll say Ottens though. What a win. Didn't just fill a hole when we were ready to go, but developed with us too.
Once every hundred thousand years or so where the sun doth shine and the moon doth glow I guess.
Ottens came to us broken, we had to fix him and repurpose him. He wasn't the big target up forward we were hoping for, but he was a much more versatile ruckman than King had become by that point.

He wasn't broken, he was never used properly. He was looking more and more a ruckman even at Richmond, but just like us for a couple of years they insisted on thinking he was key forward.

As late as Round 1, 2007 we played him as a key forward. After that though, never looked back.

He was injuired for quite a bit when we first got him , was abit of outcry that we may had paid too much for a dud pick

Oh boy how that looks now

His groins were in bad shape and he had to adjust his running gait. His first season was a write off after a diving mark made a bad thing worse. He was broken.
