Toast The Sack

Awesome game from the sack. A couple of great contested marks early, and then just some serious attack on the ball. But the best part of his night was the constant pressure. He was one of the key men who put the implied pressure on the eagles in the second half. Chasing that extra step which put pressure on the kicker

Really, he should have had 3 goals tonight instead of the 1.

He would have come close to BOG if he nailed those, not that he was off it.

Best game i've seen him play.
Chased like a mad-man, tackled, pressured - was rapt with him last night.
So many things he won't get a stat for - but were just important.

Well played Goldy

better than usual but no where near his 2010 grand final replay game.
I'll have to watch taht again, coz hard to believe. Seemed like his best game ever to me and potentially his "next step" game to becoming an A-grader.
Also showed a lot of pace at times. What aspect of the game is he not good at? (other than rucking but he is even good 3rd man up).

Very close to BOG

Was just a physical beast. Hit hard all the time, won key contests aerially and on deck, tackling ferocious and sacrificed for the team with great off the ball stuff.

Super game.

I had the exact same thought.

Had he kicked those gimme goals, I reckon BOG JUST in front of Reid and Pendles.

Goldy bulked up this year and given the year he had it wouldn't surprise me (and hope it happens) if he continues on bulking over the preseason. I like him playing forward.

Dawes and Goldy are both 193cm..... though their weights on the CFC website cant' be right. Dawes 105kg and Goldy 88kG ...... now that aint right, Goldy is probably 95-98kg (please don't turn this into a get rid of Dawes thread ... I'm just pointing out they're both the same size and Goldy could muscle up quite nicely specially in the upper body for one on ones.

Yep, was awesome Saturday night. Was never a big fan of his early in the piece but have to admit he has really won me over this year and the weekends performance cemented that. Think the right role has been found for him.

Another guy I'm really appreciating the more is Toovs. Seriously goes under the radar as a player but just seems to go about his business and get his job done week in week out. Consistent

Not as big as Cloke but by god he's a monster contested mark for his size, has a great turn of speed as well. This may sound a little heretical but it IMHO it wouldn't hurt to have Cloke play the dummy forward at times in the game and have the ball delivered to Goldy so that he can run onto it.

His hardness, his strong overhead ability and his tireless running have been great for us up forward this year.

Absolutely. Clokey pretty much always has 2 players on his tail ..... clear the space.

He isn't usually that strong in contested marking situations - possibly just having a good night...? I wouldn't label Cloke the decoy just yet JonBe. One swallow does not a summer make...

If he can continue to improve on his overhead marking (or at least maintain what he showed v WC) and get his goal kicking right, he should be able to cement his spot in the team even with all players available for selection. I am not quite sure if he has done that yet.

I'm not saying it should be a tactic but its certainly something to explore JB, a couple of times now I've seen him grab the ball, wheel onto the left and just take off, he's quick enough to provide a good option instead of being Clokecentric as we can be at times.

Let's face it Cloke will always be the prime target (if he stays) but breaking it up with different type forwards while the opponents sitting on Cloke are dragged out of the 50 stretches the opposition.

Goldy wouldn't have to get much bulkier as he'll be used as a defensive / lead-up forward / swingman. Need him lighter to maintain the pace.
