I am willing to bet that Sam motioning with a needle action was probably in response to some Essendon jerk gobbing off to him about something stupid. What better way to come back than with the jabbing action? I would have done the same thing, and I certainly wouldn't have apologised for it.

I think that he points to the scoreboard before he makes the jabbing action, so its a double whammy.
