I think its James Aish for Norwood has 18 marks.

Another quality SA lost and to never return.

18 marks from 22 disposals....

Loose man in defence or just extremely hard working getting into space??

It's a pity we won't see an Aish pull on a Crows jumper

-----------

Also, when's the last time Centrals opened the season 0-3 ?

1987 so sad

pretty big dilemma down at west lakes i think.

we have Kerridge, Lyons, Riley (when fit) Johnston and now Grigg and Laird as our talented youngsters demanding a chance at AFL level. Then we have Smith that will come back in, and Callinan who seems destined to return when he rediscovers his touch.

Then we have Lynch who is also playing too well right now to stay out (but for mine he's too vanilla to his chance) and Martin who i rate but is sadly a few years older than those listed earlier.

Who is going to miss out to give these guys a chance?

The answer is no one as we very rarely drop players.

Listening to the radio, there is no way Callinan comes in before any of those young players until he regains his touch and for the forward planning of the side we would be doing well if the kids keep him out

Johnston should definitely get a chance at AFL level soon, he's earned it. I see no reason why Walker, Jenkins and Johnston can't work in the same forward line. Johnston is a good mark and an excellent kick, could take a bit of pressure off Walker (less double teaming) if he's given a chance.

Jenkins could ruck a bit more and give Jacobs more of a rest also. Sub a big guy out late, definitely could work.

Agree with this EC

If Nutter comes back in before an inform Lyon, Kerridge or Grigg than I would have concerns re our level of forward planning

Even if a small forward is omitted we xan reshuffle the side to give a in form younger player an opportunity

Given that Nutter was the last player to get a new contract for 2013 I sense that he has a real battle on his hands to break back into the side and to remain on the list past this season

you're right, we rarely drop players. but that doesnt mean we shouldn't.
something has to give here. we either lose some older (but in their prime) best 22 players, or we lose some talented young kids.

i think it's time at the end of this season. we simply must trade some of our players. we may get unders for them but thats the chance we have to take.

if we dont win the flag this year we must move players on.

now i should be posting in the list management thread thats floating around somewhere though.

on topic then;

IMO would play well across HB

so tough inside, but creative accross half back. our poor mans Luke Hodge?

Can you recall Hodge at Grigg's age?

It took Hodge quite a few seasons to live up to his high draft pick

Grigg may not become Hodge quality but he will develop into his own type of player, and a very good one

Grigg and Johnston seem to be virtually demanding a chance next week after their first 2 rounds, pity Liard's on the rookie list or he'd be a chance too.

Give a bloke a chance. How many 14 game backup ruckman come out and kill it early in their career?

Yeh ok my bad.. Love the bloke so of course ill give him a chance but I saw him last week look completely lost.. Wasn't even making body contact at one stage he was 2m in front of the ruck "contest".. Surely this was covered in training anyway obviously I hope he becomes a solid back up was just stating what I have observed

Grigg would be line ball with the other mids. The question is does Sando see him as having that point of difference with his left foot.

Johnston done well, but to be fair Sturt were stretched down back. Their bigger defender most the time took Daniel Stewart who kicked 2. I also didn't realise how big a kick he was until today as well.

What's Johnston's speed like? That's the only real concern for me - I have serious concerns about carrying two slow talls in your forward line. Walker is slow. Jenkins is quick enough that he can work around Walker. What sort of pace does Johnston have? Would he be a liability defensively?

It is hard for me to imagine we'll ever have room for all of Riley, Lyons, Kerridge and Grigg to play regularly. I hope this doesn't force any to seek opportunities elsewhere. Two years without decent draft picks means we almost certainly won't have the same level of talent behind them so I think it's crucial we hang on to all of these guys for a while yet.

If we don't have room to play them all regularly, then we should be happy for some of them to seek opportunities elsewhere - so we might actually manage to get some value in a trade.

No point having a bunch of good young midfielders on our list if we're not going to use them. May as well either trade in a player from a position we have more need in, or bank some draft picks since we're not going to get many good ones this year.

Sanderson has mentioned this a couple of times. Not specifically about Johnston, but about our ability to apply pressure in the front half if we go too tall.

Walker, Jenkins and McKernan will not be picked together, based on what Sanderson said (unless Jacobs doesn't play I guess).

I haven't seen enough of Johnston to know but I suspect he is closer to Tex in terms of defensive pressure than he is to Petrenko.

It's probably Porplyzia's spot that he would need to take, something I hope doesn't happen.
