Close.. I expect the reserves teams to be playing in the VFL, with Port Magpies dropping out of the SANFL as a result (Port can't afford 2 teams, let alone 3).
I expect it will change over the next 12-24 months. 2 Reserves teams (Adelaide & Port Magpies) and 8 SANFL Teams, removal of the bye and Sturt will remain
Agreed! lets not tarnish our great local league, let them play in the VFL. What the AFL should do is setup a reserves team for each of the 18 AFL clubs and use them as a curtain raiser to each proper match (I for one would enjoy going to the footy early to watch the youngster battle it out)

My word is Sturt will not last that long and even seeing this year out is a problem.Rucci tweeted not to rule out a 2015 Crows Sturt alliance
If they get drafted they're not yours anymore.Sturt are not getting my Eagles boys, no way in a million years. If a Crows resrves side hurts the SANFL, the I don't want a bar of it. We can surive without one.
I hope the SANFL step in & save Sturt.
With what?
New plays , new coaching staff , new powers to be be & vey good mini draft picks.
Heaps of cash from the SANFL & AFL
Why would the afl care. They want to take over. No more for the sanfl.

Well they did say ages ago that they would help state leagues
it is quite ironic really, most Port fans blame the SANFL for their demise when in Fact the Power will eventually be the demise of the SANFL.The problem is that the Power have had to be propped up to the tune of around $13 million dollars to keep them afloat and this has come from the SANFL, which now has no cash reserves and can't borrow any more.
There'll be another $3 to $4 million to cover for the Power again this year, and that's why the AFL doesn't want to take Port over until after the end of the season, while on the other hand the SANFL would dump them now. Neither party wants to have to cough up this shortfall.
Port Power has killed the ability of the SANFL to prop up its own member clubs.
Did anyone see that article in the Advertiser/on AdelaideNow about SANFL players leaving to play in country leagues because they can get more money?![]()

They may have to care when keys etc are handed to them by SturtWhy would the afl care. They want to take over. No more for the sanfl.
I know an ex SANFL Ruckman who did just this. His one goal was to play 50 games for the club he loved then earn some "real" money.
I know a number of players who have done similar.
Top liners can make $1000-2000 a game playing in country leagues. Training maybe twice a week
I think we all do, there's a massive thread on one here.Especially if you are tall... I know some very average players on $800k plus who just happen to be tall
