Huhh...Crouch was the leading possession getter for Westies. What else was he meant to do?
And the way Crouch is been handled is just so the Crows. "Hey everyone, don't worry about all those lost draft picks, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fines, suspended officals, and Tippett lost for nothing, we have Brad Crouch. Every Crows fan should get around him and turn up to the games to watch this kid. He is worth all the heartache, dodgy trading and drafting you have had to put up with" and then they just don't play him.

I think it's a great strategy to keep AFL ready Crouch in the SANFL. Look, we've used that strategy previously with players like Maric, Gunston and Davis and it didn't hinder their development.

Anyway, how would we find a position for him when so many are playing good consistent football i.e. van berlo, reilly, porplyzia and mckay.

Coincidentally none are still at the club either.

A genuine woosh over the head or a straight man play?

Now, if the person who posted the commented said this, your comment would hold more weight.

However, since he said "bingo", I feel you have misinterpreted the intent of his comment.

McKay, Reilly, Porplyzia
If they're not earning their spots then thats your opinion an obviously differs from mine & the selectors ......that said the selectors have sent warnings to Porps by having him in the green vest....and IMO now he should be dropped ;)

crouch doesn't command an automatic selection to the team. he was ordinary last week and didn't deserve to play afl. the 3 afl midfielders for sturt all played better games and deserved their chance. crouch played better this week and deserves the have his chance again. don't see anything wrong with logical process.

I'd be disgusted if the selection panel didn't think he was ready to play, but played him anyway to try to placate fans who are angry about the club losing draft picks.

The kid took one match to get into the side, then was injured, then played one match back with little impact and only moderate game-time. It's not that shocking that he wasn't brought back in this week.

AFL ready Crouch

Players who don't play well in the SANFL don't get picked for the AFL, no matter how much wunderkind masturbating goes on in the fanbase, which is why he didn't play this week.

Look, we've used that strategy previously with players like Maric, Gunston and Davis and it didn't hinder their development.

How could you possibly have a memory so faulty to think that Maric was "parked" in the SANFL while being "AFL ready"? Are you seriously suggesting an 18 year old ruckman should have been starting ahead of Ben Hudson and Rhett Biglands as we finished top of the ladder? Defective is the nicest word that springs to mind. Despite his youth, he still got 8 and 6 games the next two seasons, with not particularly great results as the club flicked between him and the equally disappointing Griffin - both had plenty of chances, more than most ruckmen their age get.

Davis was third choice behind Rutten and Bock. Simple as that, and an unfortunate fact of life that a team can only fit so many KPPs on the ground at a given time. He still got games when Bock was injured. Davis was never parked or hindered.

Gunston? He had 2 pretty ordinary games in his first season, got 12 games in his second, and then did his runner to Hawthorn. Player actually has to be here to be restrained.

You people will just make any old shit up to support your inherently flawed youth theories.

NTRabbit why do you post when you have such little regard for the people that post on here?

You people, really?

Such a sad statement this is.
I'm sure you were at the game today to see our shocking style of football.
Last year we rightly deserved the ribbing we got over our style of football and I was one who was complaining however this year is completely different.
We play a tough, hard competitive style of footy and our scoring has risen remarkably. Yes we were over run in the last quarter but if you didn't enjoy today's game then you don't like football.West contributed a fair bit to make this match as entertaining as it was.
I've been to every game this year and I could say the only game which was awful to watch was the Norwood game. They suffocate a team around the stoppages and we just play dumb footy against them.

I do find it comical that there are those here who never go to an SANFL match yet criticise our terrible style of play. I can honestly say you really have no idea;we are the second highest scoring team this year by a fair margin and have a pretty decent defence which doesn't allow the opposition the luxury of playing their attractive football, maybe that gets them upset.

I was critical of Crouch last week but I thought he played a much better game this week. His touches were clean and his disposals were nearly all to our advantage.
He fell out of the game in the last quarter but he was not alone there as North dominated the last part of the game and we rarely had possession of the ball at the end.

Wright played a serviceable game but he was heavily tagged although like all his team mates he got away a bit in the last quarter.
Nathan Gordon was the stand out on the day.I've seen him a few times now and you can't help but be impressed.

Well said. I doubt half the numpty's on this site have ever been to a live football match. SANFL or AFL.

Fair call. I was mostly just playing to the West stereotype though and bagging the poster who said he doesn't want Crouch in the league team, so don't take my comment too seriously. I do actually have a very good idea, I go to every Roosters game (as well as the odd neutral game) each year and passionately follow the league a lot closer than most.

Obviously I enjoyed today's game a lot, although most of my enjoyment came in the last 15 minutes. :p

Don't know why, but he strikes me as the type of cocksure young footballer that Collingwood seem to draft (in a good way)

I know exactly what you mean. Just doesn't seem like our usual type. There is some, dare I say it, "risk" involved. I bet he's never even been in a choir either...

What picture weren't they painting? The one you wanted?

- how did crouch go?
- leading possession winner for the team
- sheeeet, can't have that. Need a different picture sharpish

Wasn't Brodie Martin close to the highest possession winner for his time on ground? Something like 9 possessions in just over a quarter of football. Hence Stats say Brodie stays! Stats do not always paint the picture.

well it needs to be mentioned that our two ruckmen today were daniel webb and travis tuck.

Webb had 30 hitouts and normally palms it fairly well so that sounds like a stupid comment even for one that says he is a Westies supporter.

What a dumb statement, there has been many a player picked when not inform in the SANFL. You only have to look no further than Jon butcher as evidence that it happens.

No one mentioned time on ground. Stop twisting points around.

Yeah and everyone else has also ran 13 or 14 KMS during the first 3/4 of the match in rain with a very heavy ground.

Stats alone do not tell the whole story - something which I am constantly reminded of by many members of this board (and not without good reason). Symes gets plenty of the ball and won the Magarey Medal last year, after being delisted by the Crows because he wasn't good enough for AFL footy.

I have no idea how Crouch performed for Westies, having not seen him for myself. However, if I read from someone who was there that he had little influence on the game, then I'll take that over a bunch of statistics any day of the week.
