Johncock 8 touches and 3 FAs? Probably not the best way to mount a case.

Still I imagine come Thursday the Crows FB page will be full of "where's stiffy?"

God that page is painful to read. Anybody who has a clue gets shot down in a hail of flames by the "omg Crows r awsum" brigade.

Passing this on from one of the champs -

Hartigan is a gun. Started in defence, switched to the forward line in the third quarter as South needed a spark. He gave it to them. Took a strong grab close to goal and converted. Took a couple more strong grabs at CHF. He's an imposing guy; very, very strong hands and leads well to the footy. Good kick, extremely strong and knows how to handle himself in the ruck too as he started the fourth quarter in the centre square taking the rucks. He was one of, if not the best South Adelaide player today.

Great pair hands, good strength, I'm excited!! Had about 15 possessions and six marks in the second half alone. Of his 9 marks I'd say at least 4/5 were contested.

And Grigg was sensational. 25+ possessions, quite a few clearances, two goals. His kick is a thing of beauty.
I like the look of this guy too, something about him

Have you stopped to ask yourself why he hasn't had the same opportunities? Could it just be that he's not actually all that good a player?

The fact that almost all of his games have come when Adelaide has had double digit injury lists is a telling statistic. It says just how far down the pecking order he is. Translated another way.. there are an awful lot of players on Adelaide's list who are better than he is. And if there are that many on Adelaide's list who are better, what on earth makes you think he'd be good enough to win a RS nomination?

As for Hawthorn being shithouse in Mitchell's first 3 seasons.. have you had a long hard look at Adelaide's performances in 3 of the last 4 years? Adelaide have sucked very nearly as badly as Hawthorn did back then.. yet Riley still hasn't been able to break into the team.

I agree that you've asked a very good question there though. Why does it take so long for Adelaide to cull players who aren't up to scratch? I think Riley (and Martin) would have been gone a while ago were it not for the serial draft dodging that Adelaide have done over the last 4 years, which has resulted in a build-up of dead wood due to an unwillingness to participate in those drafts.

Adelaide has a bad habit of hanging onto players for far too long if they perform well in the SANFL, even if their chances of making it at the AFL level are remote at best. The club needs to be far more ruthless in culling these players.
maybe because some of the se afl players are noyt that great when they play SANFL, VB Reilly, Tippett were average SANFL players thagt just got shown some belief and got a chance. martin and Riley have not had a fair go

fiddled around a little with some mock designs, SANFL-ing the Crows guernsey to see what it might look like next year...

And a late hit could see him attract some close scrutiny my the MRP on Monday as well.

Grigg must play next week, it's time to show him what the big time is like.

And given our last two scorelines, there must surely be someone who should come out.

The young chap is probably getting tired by now, not having a rest at all this season.
He'll definately need a break next week now after that effort :D

I'ld really like to see Grigg play in the mid-field - left foot, great kick and currently in form.

Unfortunately, I think that both Radar Reilly and Johncock performed :D so well yesterday that the selectors will reward them (before Grigg).

It would be great to get a look at Hartigan in the AFL this year, see how he goes. It sounds like he has really stepped it up this year.
I reckon he could slip into Ottens' position in the back pocket, he might even provide some dash from defense.

Surely Grigg needs to be given a game now too.

Why didn't Reilly play?

I heard he had a weekend away with the missus booked from the start of the year obviously expecting to get the weekend off with the AFL bye. Disgusting if the club let him have 2 weeks off. IF he fabricated a back injury to get out of playing SANFL I would like to see him sacked A.Jarman style. Unlikely he seems like a good team man despite his many shortcomings.

I will throw up if he plays for us again fullstop. Worse than mediocre. We have 35 players that could perform to a superior standard.

If this is right, and the club knew about his trip, why did they let him sit out of the SANFL last week? If they didnt know about his trip, it's concerning. Really concerning. Tail wagging the dog.

IF this is right.

Sounds like bullshit to me.

I really hope we give Grigg a try in the AFL side. It's not like we're performing well anyway and our season is all but over. He has had very good SANFL form for a while now.

With someone like Grigg who has such a potent weapon in his kicking, you always worry whether or not he'll get enough of the ball or work hard enough to make use of it. 18 kicks, 6 clearances, 3 tackles, 2 goals, 6 inside 50s, even a rebound 50 - it might only be SANFL, but those are the stats of a man who is working his guts out and is getting results to boot.

I'd love to see him given a run at AFL level as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, good to see Hartigan's stats are starting to pick up. We get a "free" rookie upgrade soon, right?

Oooh... I love a good conspiracy theory. I'm going to choose to believe this one.

Must have taken you all night to get the Crows guernsey and put an SANFL logo on it.

Griggs had these stats all year, has come on really well this year and should be next in line.

Hartigan in and Talia to CHF. The year is shot, time to look at options.
