You honestly cant believe that.
unfortunately he does .......but he doesn't appear to view the finer points of the game
nnn
Jenkins early season was disappointing ........running to wrong spots and typical basketballer approach to footy
Last 6 games he appears to be running his role in the structure much better and playing closer to goal (or should i say not getting caught out of position as much)

PLUS instead of avoiding body contact (he only weighs 105kgs) .....he is starting to use his weight for sheperding and opening spaces fo players .....emphasis on "start"

How many times have they had to make that decision this year?
So far this year..
JJ has played 15 games.
Smack has played 7.
Lynch has played 12
LJ has played... 0 ** has been injured for the last 2 months.

This is 100% in keeping with the selections we saw in 2012:
JJ - 11 games
Smack - 6
Lynch - 6
LJ - 1

You can spin it any way you like, but the empirical evidence is that our selectors have gone out of their way to avoid selecting LJ at the AFL level. I don't pretend to know why. I'm not attacking him as a player. All I'm doing is stating what the selectors have done in the past - and extrapolating future selections on that basis. All of our other KPP forwards have been given opportunities, particularly since Tiprat walked and Tex got injured.. everyone except LJ, who never got a look in.

Johnston had a great season in the SANFL last year, consistent and probably would have won the Ken Farmer Medal (missed out by two goals) if he wasn't selected for the Crows. How exactly do you think he was going to get a game when we had Walker and Tippett in the side? Two of the competitions best forwards. Then this year obviously he's been injured. This idea that "he's behind Smack" is delusional because your assertions rely on there being no variables. In Vader world that's fine, but it's not how the real world works. Things can change, Vader, like Tippett going to Sydney, Walker doing his knee, selectors deciding Jenkins can chop out Jacobs instead of McKernan, different match-ups required depending on teams played, weather, and heaven forbid, trying something new.

You have an inbuilt equation in your head that goes like this; time on list x games played = quality of player. I know it's hard for you to get out of black and white world and see shades of grey but if you tried your opinions would gain a bit more respect.
Tiprat & Walker both missed a number of games last year - Tiprat due to concussion, Walker due to suspension. As a result, JJ, Lynch and Smack played a collective 23 games between them. LJ played 1.

I'm not making any comment about him as a player. He's definitely got SANFL form behind him (at least he did in 2012 - less so in 2013, though his performance this weekend was one out of the box). None of that alters the fact that the Adelaide selectors have gone out of their way to avoid selecting him at the AFL level.

Funny coming from the guy who used to rate Jericho...

yep .....was a hug talent ....but huge ego & no competitive spirit

I'll repeat Jericho = L.Johnson

How many times should they have selected him since Tex got injured?

With the Crows set up they needed a 2nd ruck as well, hence McKernan and Jenkins getting a look in first.

Anyway, I don't know why all the speculation, he'll get his opportunity and then a judgement can be made.
That is exactly right, we needed a second ruck hence Smack gets first crack at it but according to one that means they hated LJ

How many times should they have selected him since Tex got injured?
They had one opportunity, the week after Tex got injured. All evidence points to them not even mentioning him at the selection table, preferring to bring Porps back, shuffling JJ to FF and bringing Smack back as part-time ruck/part time forward. LJ was included on the emergency list at the last minute.

They had abundant opportunities to select him last year, with Tiprat concussed and Walker frequently suspended. JJ, Lynch & Smack played 23 games between them. LJ played 1.

They have another opportunity next weekend, with Smack still suspended and Walker still injured - and LJ having played a ripper in the SANFL. I suspect the odds of him being selected are still no better than 50-50. The odds on him playing the following week (with Smack back from suspension) drop to about 5-95. If he's not selected to play the cats, then we can pretty much guarantee that he'll be delisted at the end of the year.

It would be the worst week to bring LJ in against Geelong. Our mid's will get destroyed and he won't get any quality ball coming his way. Couple that with Geelong's defence and he would be lucky to get 6 touches, and everyone will call for his head for such a waste of a player

LJ should come in next week. I don't think he has the tools to be an AFL footballer, but we've got 7 games to find out. No point leaving him to kick bags in the SANFL and then guessing whether he should stay on the list or not.

I've thought LJ is a classy player (even if not a classy person if the figjam rumours are true) and a good finisher - just what we need right now - and has been very stiff this year to not get a look in, then when Tex went down and an opportunity opened up for him, he gets injured himself. Perhaps his defensive game isn't all that it could be.

He's had a couple of games in the SANFL back from his injury now and would like to see what he's got - and shouldn't be judged on one game against Geelong of all teams either. Can't go on relying on JJ and the smaller forwards as our targets. It was very noticeable when we were on top of Collingwood early on Friday, that we were falling down a bit in the forward line.

Spot on and his efforts in only 2 nd match back was excellent .
Although has not had the consistent form like Lynch last year and look how well that turned out and lets face it Sando was in no hurry to pick Lynch or Lyon as examples.
He has shown ability and will add a lot up forward and JJ was more comfortable in support role and back up ruck .
Plus kicks long and straight . If it works then finally got a forward line that actually kick winning scores.
If succeeds a huge bonus if not well what do we lose. Tell him in for next 3 lets see how it goes.

Reserves stats are up. Standout performances are probably (1) Atkins who had 22 touches, 6 marks, 5 tackles and a goal. Ran at >90% kicking efficiency as well. (2) Osborn on return from a long term injury had 13 touches, 6 marks (including 2 contested) and kicked 3.2.

Osbourne is the ex-Basketballer, yeah? The one that almost averaged being fouled out every game and reckons he likes the rough stuff?

Lewis Johnstone has been fit for exactly 1 week of those games

They had the option of playing him in R1-5 as well.. he wasn't only available in R6 you realise? JJ played all 5 games from R1-5. Lynch played 2 of them. LJ didn't even make the emergency list until Tex got injured.

Same story last year.. LJ was pretty much available all last year and never got a look in, despite Walker & Tiprat missing a heap of games. Couldn't even get near the emergency list.

But go on.. keep making excuses for him. If they wanted to select him then they would have, just as they've created opportunities for so many other players over the last 18 months. How many times have they bothered to select him again?

No no. It had everything to do with that.
Garbage. Smack spends more time stinking it up in the forward line than he does relieving Jacobs in the ruck. If Tex was available, then Smack wouldn't be playing (and LJ would be even further away from selection).

You can make all the excuses you like for him, but there's not a skerick of proof to suggest that the selectors have any interest in LJ at all. None. There is, on the other side, ample evidence to suggest that he's a last resort option who they would only play in the direst of injury list emergencies.
