Saw someone interesting today who might be worth a late or rookie pick at Prospect

No. 63 for North, Justin Shahinger playing his first game, rucking nearly all day against an experienced campaigner in Meiklejohn.

Looked like a bit of a prospect and might be worth a speculative late or rookie. Meiklejohn is far from a mug and with some time, Shahinger might just be the goods. Early call I know, but he looks to have the height, leap, and doesn't mind getting down and dirty to get the ball out as well.

Can't find any stats on height, but he looks over 200 and is a decent build as well, certainly not a beanpole tho

C'mon he missed almost half a season, of course he needs a string of games, particularly when he's an unproven player. An experienced forward with runs on the board could come in after a game or 2 but not johnston's situation.

Normally that'd be true but considering how pitiful our key forward stocks are right now, it makes no sense that he isn't playing. Tex injured, Smack suspended and Jenkins struggling to get more than a 40% conversion rate. A long kicking, accurate shot on goal like Johnston is exactly what we need in the team right now.

Its taken most of the year but finally most of our squad are playing good SANFL footy. Most of the year its been 2 or 3 blokes standing out.

Kedge LJ and potentially Hartigan should be looking for a run next week.

Dont want to shoot blokes before a game but Otten Wright and Tambling would be walking a fine line

Theres been some quite good SANFL form. Blokes just werent getting rewarded

Maybe last year it was the fact our side was hard to get into, and even guys like Lynch, Symes, LJ and Tambling who were dominating each week couldn't crack it.

Really shows the gulf between SANFL and AFL when guys like Jaensch can go straight back in for 1 game and dominate​

Yep and itll only get bigger. Symes won the medal, Tambling a BNF and LJ kicks bags. Obviously theres guys who do step up, JPod, Dwyer, Spurr etc but on the whole its getting wider.

and that's why you can't tot out the line .....reward those performing well in the SANFL

Yes it's an indicator ......if you CANT get kick in the SANFL you wont get an AFL game

Tambling has shown he can dominate SANFL ....and then stink up the AFL with that same form

I think it's also my concern with a reserves side that we en up in an even more inferior competition

Crows with a strong SANFL side becomes a benchmark for other SANFL Teams ...including playing style

I just don't think that'll be the focus

Back on topic ..... Training form and attitude/confidence is primary way players get picked ...."as long as they are getting kicks at SANFL level"

Depends on your version of dominate . As Jaensch yesterday did not dominate as was not in Sturts best .
Tambling played well for Sturt over last 2 years but rarely has dominated .
Lynch last year and Lyons last year and when played this year has dominated with regular BOG .
Grigg has dominate last 5-- 6 weeks being close to if not Norwoods best.
LJ played well last year but rarely dominated which seems to being close to that this year at times..
Anyway thats my view of playing levels.

Sorry mate, cant agree with that. I CEY and Joyce are the only ones who have been disappointing for mine. The rest i feel have been really good.
