Should have looked at Brady Dawe from Norwood
Not quite tall enough or big enough?

I'm starting to think Dowdell could be a competitive back-up, while of course we all hold out hope that Osborn makes big strides as he seems to have the raw ability.

Keep these 2, ditch Graham asap, and draft/trade for another 2R/ruck (maybe even 2 if McKernan leaves).

We've been waiting for Sam Shaw to get fit all these years, maybe CEY will take over? Defensive talls of Hartigan, Talia and CEY?

Hell, if Shaw can actually get fit, we could have amazing flexibility back there with a defensive 7 post Rutten of Talia, Hartigan, CEY, Shaw, Henderson, Brown, Laird...would allow Smith to move up to the midfield.

EDIT: Dunno if true but the AFC site lists CEY as 183cm tall, so prob not 3rd tall material but definitely a Smith replacement...get Smith up into the midfield with his mate Polec
IIRC has always been listed as 188cm

Had massive wraps on him as a junior.

I'm not sure you'd call it massive wraps, was never considered a top 50 talent and was eventually selected at pick 32 in the rookie draft. I think he'll develop into a decent key position player at SANFL level once his body develops, but no more than that.

Coming through as a 15 16 year old he did. Then just stagnated.

Its good that Dowdell managed to get six clearances along with his hitouts, bodes well for his ability to contribute to the midfield effort

I don't see him improving enough to make it at AFL level unfortunately, but I really enjoy watching Dowdell play.

He's far more of a Ben Hudson style ruckman than anyone else on our list. Throws himself at clearances, and uses his body well in the ruck. I love seeing big guys throw midfielders aside, dive on the ball, and get a clearing handpass, rather than backpedal away from the pack and call for a handpass you'll inevitably fumble (Jacobs style.) Dowdell has got no clue where to run around the ground, so he rarely gets many touches, but he plays like a guy his size SHOULD at the clearances.

Don't know where he's learned it from. Certainly not Clarke and Jacobs.

Anyone watching the Foxtel Cup?

Awful game. They all have been, but anyway.

They just had the most hilarious boundary side interview ever. Ben Dixon tried to interview one of the East Fremantle bench players "Godfrey" and he gave him the leanest pile of donuts I've ever seen. Had three goes at asking a question - got absolutely nothing in return except a couple of words of mumbled gibberish and smiles. Not sure if he even spoke English

They are couple of hours behind in Western Australia. Takes the brain awhile to digest what was said.

pressure was extremely high from both teams. enjoyed making the big dance, except for the last 5 mins where i almost had a heart attack. the 100k is just so, so vital, as well as the continued national exposure over the 3 games.

if teams are poor enough to play into our hands when we have numbers back then too bad. you chip it around and make us move across to cover, not just bomb it long to where we can get 3 or 4 guys around the ball. ground was very dewy with players slipping over, dropping chest marks and poor skills. also needs to be factored in that both teams played on saturday, east freo had to travel and we played in an absolute pisser on the weekend too. both teams looked absolutely spent in the 2nd half.

umpiring was absolutely appalling after half time, but what else can you expect in a westies game? highlight was a free kick going to east freo because the ball didn't go directly to the boundary umpire.
