God, there are some small minded idiots on this board.

A player plays well in the magoos and it's the selectors fault for not playing him.

A player plays terribly in the magoos and it's the selectors fault because he's broken hearted they haven't picked him.

It's ridiculous the crap that some people post.

You mean the SAAFL. That would be glorious for an AFL standard player.

I'd love to hear the players honest attitude to this development. I imagine the party line comment would be very different to the private comment.

No, that statement is just bullshit in this case. if Lyons or Kerridge ask to be traded, it would be to increase their opportunities to play at the highest level.

Players capable of playing AFL don't want to get stuck playing in the SANFL and want to be rewarded for good solid form. Both Kerridge and Lyons have shown they are more than capable of playing AFL football. So if they can not get a game at the Crows because our coach won't drop his besties and reward good firm, why shouldn't they go somewhere else?
Oh cmon ......thats precious, players believing they have to be playing AFL regularly within 2 years ......do you actually believe in that?

How many years was Tom Mitchell in the Sydney 2nds.......3 i think

I do believe top 10 draft picks tend to think that way .......but Lyons & Kerridge ......you're joking :p

Yep ......SAAFL ....give me a break .....and that's good for player development?

So you honestly would be happy playing SANFL (lower level stuff depending on the state you live in) week after week?

Do you have any career ambition to increase your job prospects or are just happy plodding along in a dead end job?

What a daft thing to say. If I see other people I know, who are my equals getting opportunities to advance their career at my expense, I'm moving companies to get that same opportunities. This isn't some part time Saturday afternoon sport that you play in between your day job, this is the payers livelihood and can make them very wealthy young men.

If you think they are happy to allow other players to advance, get greater opportunities to play at the highest level, earn more money and basically take their career away from them based on some bullshit archaic club loyalty thing from 50 years ago, you are lost in the dark ages.

It's 2013, not 1963.

Comparing Tom Mitchell trying to break into the premiers compared to trying to break into the 13th ranked team, hmmm, interesting comparison

Yep .....gap between U18 and AFL too great for MOST .....not all, but most

They play when the club believes they're physically, mentally, and skill wise ready .......NOT when the player wants to play!!!
They want to be precious .....then F...k off.....most wont make it with that attitude anywhere else either

They are not 18 years old anymore. They are 21 years old now and next year will be their 4th year on the list.

That's fine ....after 4 years as a midfielder if you're not getting a regular game then both club & player will think hard
So far both players game progression each year is on average

But your point was playing in 2 years ??

Pretty sure it will be their third year on the list, not 4th.

Edit: Wrong with Lyons he was drafted in 2010 and was Adelaide's youngest player in 2011.

Ummmm no it wasn't, it was always about Lyons and Kerridge playing next year or not as it happens to be as the club won't open a spot up fir them and they will get stuck in the SANFL.

If they spend another 12 months only playing minimal AFL games, that will stagnate their development and the club has yet to show any desire to play them over the failed counterparts.

You think wrong.

This is his second year on their list and he was injured for much of last year.

Still doesn't change anything. They still need to see that pathway to encourage them to keep going.

At the moment, if I were Sam Kerridge, I would be looking fir a move to establish a regular AFL game.

If it was his 4th season at the club, then i'd agree with you but the kid has only been here for two seasons and played close to 10 games for us and not only that he debuted in his first season. Those two things show that we believe he'll be an important player in the near future.

If i was him, i'd take this season as a learning curve whilst he is getting ready for the rigors of AFL football. We've shown enough for him to be loyal, if not then he was a flight risk anyway and we are better being rid of him now.

Your countering your own arguments ......if they're not good enough then they're not in the side
Now you may differ in Your Opinion from the selectors ......but every poster has different opinions ....so whose right?,

Now take this in:
1. The club HAS rushed into the side .....Laird, Brown, Smith, Crouch & Shaw
That indicates the club feels these players will be the backbone of the club moving forward

2. Other players .....Lyons, Kerridge, Riley, Grigg a doing it the more traditional way ......the club basically saying they'e things each of t hose players still need to work on .

The club will decide when they're ready, not the players .......BTW how many have left AFC for lack of opportunities and made it elsewhere???????

Sorry WW but this will be our 3rd poor year out of 4 and we still have the same sort of playing group.

Tine to make those changes before its a another poor year leading us nowhere.

Kerridge was either playing injured or was totally disinterested today. His workrate was non existant and just ran around the back of the packs looking for easy kicks. Was getting tagged and didnt seem to want to work hard enough to break the tag. In the end didnt spend much time in the midfield because he couldnt get near it.

Cannot agree with this.

Thought he played quite well and did some tough things.

We must have been watching different games today.

Rubbish argument...... 1 year with Craig, 1 year with Sando (prelim final) ....and a year where we lost basically our whole forward line & our best defender from 2012
That's a non argument!

As for team changes ......those highlighted are in at least their 2nd season .....we have the same playing team

The team is:
B: Luke Brown, Ben Rutten, Andy Otten
HB: Rory Laird, Daniel Talia, Brodie Smith
C: Patrick Dangerfield, David Mackay, Nathan van Berlo
HF: Bernie Vince, Lewis Johnston, Jared Petrenko
F: Mitch Grigg, Tom Lynch, Richard Douglas
RUCKS: Sam Jacobs, Brad Crouch, Scott Thompson
INTERCHANGE FROM: Rory Sloane, Matthew Wright, Sam Shaw, Ricky Henderson

I'll argue that's a pretty good list........have my doubts on Otten, and yes there are others whose form needs to improve ....but they're sitll playing better than those 2 you seem to have blind faith in

Mcintyre got a few goals but his lack of flexibility for his size kills him.

Yaensch really worries me. Nice long kick but not much else.

Tambling - has found his level its not AFL.

Graham - oh dear easily moved of ball in rucking contests. Showed very little.

Liked Battersby a lot and did not mind Gregg.

Stewart for North - very poor.
