I was watching him today and he was running along the wing at Elizabeff and it looked like he wasn't even moving.

His legs were pumping up and down but he wasn't even moving.
Josh Kennedy style?

So when are the SANFL clubs going to say, we don't want the AFL funding from the 2 clubs? They can keep that money.

Yeh, didn't think so.

Think you've missed the point Alex, regardless of how people feel about having AFL Reserves in the SANFL, it seems to be quite a heavy handed approach from Weslo and SAPOL for what is essentially a group of people holding a sign.

Maybe, but still doesn't change the fact they were holding that sign - yet they are more than willing to hold out their other hand for cash.

I think you'll find these people would be more than happy to forego any money from the AFL (including from the 2 SA licences) to protect the competition's independence.

Those people as in the people holding the signs?

Yeah, you are possibly correct but that's not a very smart strategic move as the SANFL would be dead within 4 years.

Jesus ****ing Christ we're living in a police state.

I love that they don't want it filmed, so they threaten to lock up the cameraman for loitering.

****ing SAPOL & Weslo.

Correct Alex.

The banner is the brainchild of one supporter who is, in effect, finding a different way to expressing their view on potential AFL Reserves sides in the SANFL. They're entitled to his opinion just as equally as those who post opposing views here.

The SANFL are in no way, shape, or form endorsing the banner, but there have been reports elsewhere that they aren't pleased in the manner Weslo handled the situation in the above video.

The SANFL have every right to protect their brand from petulant people who go against their strategic direction, especially when it paints them in a negative light.

This isn't about living in a nanny state, it's about protecting their clubs values and financial interests.

The Adelaide Crows have every right to protect their brand from petulant members who go against their strategic direction, especially when it paints them in a negative light.

If it's not about living in a nanny state or a police state, why did the cops threaten to arrest the bloke filming outside of the ground?

I don't know, I wasn't their.

But I'm sure if I took my video camera to the exact same spot tomorrow and started filming, I'm sure I won't get moved on by the police. I'm sure it has something to do with the subject, not the filming itself that they didn't want the negative attention.

anyway

so has anyone heard anything that is positive about a reserves side or our own licence.
No on both counts.

SANFL clubs don't want a reserves Crows side playing in the SANFL and the SANFL doesn't want a Crows and Power reserves playing in another comp weakening the SANFL comp.

Guessing on the licence it could be in part the SANFL not wanting to have a reserves teams for Crows and Port outside their control. Port being less of a basket case may be raising the price the SANFL is asking and Vlad would like to pay nothing for both.

oh that is just a wonderful stance.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what our admin come up with.

The SANFL is apparently not impressed with Weslo's conduct in this situation yesterday...

Was kinda hoping this would be another "don't tase me bro!" style video. :P

Very strange though. The same banner was held up for the entire North vs Norwood game at Prospect a few weeks back and there was no incident. They guys holding the banner even marched it out onto the ground (before the 2nd siren) and stood next to the Roosters players as they walked off the ground (so they could be seen on TV), and although the Weslo staff walked out to them they were clearly happily chatting and not that fussed about it.

Anything about how Crouch went this week?

Drove over from Lincoln to have a look at this game. He was very good under pressure and is a class above the SANFL.
On a sad note Stiffy is stuffed , looked overweight and just showed glimpses (Turned it on for 5 minutes and nobody could touch him). Will struggle to get back in the side on that performances

If I remember right preseason the nine coaches were asked about a Crows reserves team in the SANFL and there was just one posative comment along the lines of only if they will compete for the flag rather than just making up the numbers to develop players.

Sturt are under the most presure to fold or merge. I do get a gentle push from someone trying to save the club to help out, I have resisted so far. It could be the Crows reserves team to save them from folding.

Centrals are also feeling the pinch but there prefered option is to have the SANFL centraly manage all the local clubs to cut costs. I can't see that idea getting any support from the others or that they would be accepted by Crows members as a reserves team.

What I would like is a new team to be based at Adelaide Oval with home games played as a curtain raiser to Crows games. No reserves team to save costs and we save on travel costs if we were going to go to the VFL or another interstate comp.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what our admin come up with.
Whatever plan they come up with you can bet that while the SANFL holds the licence they will be told to pull their heads in if it is not in the best interests of the SANFL clubs.

It is a worrying outcome. this harps back the 80's when the admin couldn't see the forest for the trees and tried in vain to delay a national competition.

Surely at some point, push has to come to shove and AFC start making demands, surely they are not that "yes Man" that they will allow the current structure, which puts the club at a competitive disadvantage to continue.
