This is how I see our ideal forward line set up.


FF: Porps ~ Jenkins ~ Wright
HF: Lynch ~ Johnson ~ Resting midfielder

Next year

FF: Jenkins ~ Walker ~Porplizia
HF: Lynch ~ Johnson ~ Resting midfielder (maybe Matthew Wright)

I know Hendo has his physicality issues but watching the game Friday I was wishing we had 2 of him.

One to stay in the rebounding role where his foot skills and aggressive counter attacks were sorely needed.

The other to be a far leading forward who can get up on the wings, as well as lead back into space, and utilise athleticism and skilful kicking to hurt the opposition in the front half.

If only we had a guy in form in the SANFL who was about 190cm, could play 3rd tall with athleticism, could find the ball up the ground but also dangerous around goal, and also have the prerequisite kicking skills to make the opposition pay when his opportunity arises.

Maybe Johnston = Hendo (and yes I know the same ?? re physical intensity is there as well!).

Let's get him in as 3rd tall with a licence to roam the front half. He and Lynch can be leading everywhere, with Porps and Jenkins/McKernan deeper marking options along with genuine smalls at the feet.

Tambling and Kedge playing well for Sturt, the latter has a goal too. Stiffy has 4 for OneClub but boy he struggles to move.

I agree. Jenkins is really out of sorts. He is having an almost zero influence on games. Smack had far more impact in the first half last week (except for stupid elbow) than Jenkins has been having. I would like to see a Smack LJ combo at some stage.

This talk of Johnston not being up to it is ridiculous. He hasn't had a chance yet. Last year we were flying and the Walker/Tippett combo was going ok. This year they wanted Jenkins to play that Tippett role. Johnston would have been the perfect replacement for Walker, but got injured right at the wrong time. He has now had two games back with North and should come in to play Full Forward this week. Johnston FF, Jenkins CHF, Lynch 3rd Forward. Hopefully Johnston takes his opportunity, which he should get for the remainder of the season.

So all of a sudden LJ is the great white hope

Ge we're grabbing onto any straw .......think of all the EXCUSES you want .....if was up to it selectors would have rushed him into the side like Crouch, Shaw, Laird, & Brown

CYE played in defence and did some nice things.Good size but he needs to be a bit more physical and back himself because he has some pace. He's learning the caper and well worth persisting with.
Definite potential there but stats do lie because his opponent for most of the game was one of the most influential players on the ground.
Tom Keough kicked four goals on him and really was a key factor in the win. Keough is a bloody good footballer.
Petrenko got concussed in a marking contest early on in the game and was very groggy when he was walked off.Played no further part in the game.
Tuck was superb!

absolutely agree on tommy boy. works his arse off, can play forward or back competently, is big, has a tank and can kick a goal. was staggered when he was out of the team and hopefully he stays for the rest of the season.

Ahhh .....at last a thought worth consideration

IMO won't happen .....but LJ has to realise at some point that talent without effort = SANFL
Never said didn't have hug talent ....hell all first round draft picks are hug talents .....bUT

That's harsh WW. LJ had a fine season last year but we had Tippett and Walker and they weren't going to be dropped.
This season just as he was up for selection he did his knee. No one is saying he is a great white hope but give the lad some credit.
He has apparently matured a heap since coming back and he really hasn't had much of an opportunity at all at our club since coming back. That I hope is about to change (although I said that about Lyons for 6 weeks in a row before he was played.)

Given we're out of the first 2 rounds do we have to delist 4 still?
Have a gut feel one of the basketball ruckmen will be upgraded ......Dowdell appears to have good skills but ? footy knowledge, Osboune similar but better footy knowledge.....which one TWT

Played his first game back yesterday after a hip injury. Will be interesting to see how much league he plays at Centrals for the rest of the year with Guilhaus Dowdell and Hardy.
I think he'll develop in the 2's for the rest of the year.

Had an excellent showing at the champs - made the u/18 AA side. Add that to good SANFL form and you would think he won't slide to the second round. Guesswork though

Cmon Vader. As a mod you need to be better then this.

It probably has a lot to do with what he offers in the ruck. Don't bet on LJ being selected when Smack returns from suspension.. that's all I'm saying.
