Ok. After years of lurking the hawks board i think i have a good handle on how things work around here. every loss needs a scapegoat/scapegoats. so allow me to start.

BUT there are rules, oh yes:

:diamond: Must be borderline starting 22 player: he/they are responsible for their own selection and ground position. These are the only people to be seriously considered. it is their own fault they are fringe/depth players (how dare they!). if they would get out of our way and delist themselves we would really show the competition how deep we go.

:diamond: Can be umpire(s): every loss under 2 goals would be a hawthorn win under strictly impartial umpiring conditions. kicking away and building big leads is overrated. only need to win by 1 point. umpires should provide the environment under which these wins can occur.

:diamond: Cannot be the coach: 'Structures' are perfect and players will get them eventually, game plan is built for finals footy (you will see). will deliver a fearsome roast for the loss, and players will respond next week. has won us a premiership and always deserves another season, always..... NO.... always.

:diamond: Cannot be a senior top 14 (or so) player: will always be better for the loss and will respond next week. is a champion and a (probably) a premiership hero. has several years of tickets left and we will respect that. is hurting from he loss more than you know, and let me assure you the boys are hurting and this loss will go into the memory banks. we will win when it matters.

:diamond: Under no circumstances do buddy, cyril and hodgey get mentioned negatively in consecutive posts. the post's insanity proves it very invalidity by its very existence (win is not possible here you see?). any negative post will be followed up by AT LEAST a page of freak/matchwinner/budwah comments. any defence is valid. there are KPI's and measures more important than goals, and since none of you are AFL coaches you do not know shit. their games cannot be improved.

on a related note the AFL scoring system in future years will be changed to include points for: 'forward pressure', time in forward 50, shots on goal (except when we have less), hard running, innovative gameplans, forwards getting a run in the midfield and 'magic'. we will have a geelong type dynasty.

cheers.

edit: yes you can merge any bruce/young/schoenmakers/bateman/etc. threads here.

Rioli is the most up & down player in the AFL. Not sure what the problem is, but he fades in and out of games like no other player. Franklin needs to convert clutch goals and be a bit more mindful of giving away free kicks.

The most baffling decision apart from the sub, was that rioli played half back for around half a game, on a wet night, we need him close to goal.

I don't think there will be an avalanche as most rational thinking supporters would probably agree with me. FWIW I'm KC.

whatever a 'KC' is i hope it is good at digging. avalanche expected any time soon.....

Bloody Hodge, poor leadership... should have been out there..

Same goes with Birch!

Birch plays tonight we win... that simple!

I expect thread rules to be incorporated into official HFC board posting rules soon. you are warned!

a scapegoat? The frakking ball. Every damn time it bounced, it bounced into the weakgulls hands.

Its the ball's fault.

There you go, an answer as dumb as this thread. You only need a scapegoat when you can't accept reality.

the ball, hadn't thought of that. designed specifically by AFL powers to not drop correctly on to buddy's boot or spill over full backs heads enough, nice.

Why isn't the official ball used by the AFL the 'Buddy Ball'?

It's a conspiracy I tell ya!!

Notice in the commercial for the Buddyball (tm), Buddy actually kicks the ball with his right foot?

It's a conspiracy, I tell you. ;)

just warming it up guys, just in case. our fringe players lost us the game. who will it be this week?

just remember the rules:

- 'top' players are off limits

- coach is a genius

- j.kennedy was not good enough to get a regular game

- can't be cam bruce or johnny barker this week

Scapegoat - ****ing clarko!

- Allows the swans to have extra numbers at every single ****ing clearance
- leaves us with no apparent forward structure for the whole second half - yes, because bombing it to hale and Franklin while are double teamed is a good idea

hey man, you know HFC board posting rules: clarko is a genius. he is just foxing before finals. do you really think that he is showing our 'A' game this early? franklin in the midfield? GENIUS. gives us much more run and 'scoreboard pressure' in the midfield.

that's just a lie. franklin was in the midfield for the second and third quarters. in fact, everyone was in the midfield for the entire third quarter. we may not have kicked any goals but at least we didn't get any rebounds from forward 50, either. true, this may have been due to no hawthorn player actually kicking it into the forward 50 because there was no one there, but you've got to understand the finer points of the game to fully appreciate why that actually worked in our favour... :)

I officially nominate ****ing Clarkson.

do you know where you are? this is the HFC board.

clarko won a premiership for us. deserves coach position for life. will innovate another gameplan to have us seriously challenging for finals.
