NORTH Melbourne captain Brent "Boomer" Harvey has sent a blunt warning to Carlton ahead of tomorrow night's Etihad Stadium clash - intimidate us at your peril.
The Blues last week effectively singled out Melbourne pair Aaron Davey and Jack Watts for physical treatment, but Harvey said the young Kangaroos were ready should there be a repeat of the roughhouse tactics.
"I reckon I have copped a fair bit of it over my career," he said.
"When players get into you, you like to show them up a little bit. You might work harder because they are hitting into you. It might come back to bite them on the backside a bit."
Harvey acknowledged the Roos did not handle physical pressure in their 104-point loss to St Kilda in Round 2, but had learned from it.
"I've got some fantastic teammates, so I don't worry about that sort of stuff," he said.
"We probably didn't fly the flag enough against St Kilda when I probably got targeted.
"We have addressed that and I am sure the boys will back me and whoever else might cop some attention," Harvey said.
"We have got some big bodies down here, so I am very comfortable with my surroundings."
Harvey said he usually gets Blues tagger Aaron Joseph, while Daniel Wells has Andrew Carrazzo, but added that North was preparing for every eventuality.
The Kangaroos have studied how Geelong and St Kilda protect their onballers as well as assist their run-with players.
"With that St Kilda game, a few things happened off the ball," Harvey said.
"I probably expected (a bit more support) without saying too much to the boys.
"It didn't happen, but we have addressed it internally. I can promise you it has not been an issue since then."
The 290-game veteran said the Kangaroos were excited to play in their only Friday night match of the season, which coincides with the club's 25-year link to what is now the game's most popular timeslot........
This article seems to me to be a nice little reverse psychology coming from a little man who can't stand the heat in the kitchen. I remember Harvey's mates when we were at our lowest last decade not having problems roughing us up at any chance and now it seems like he's trying to alert the media and AFL that we may play unsociable football against his mob. So Davey had a little sooky wooky.... and now Harvery's got some skids in his jocks in fear we'll be after him.
I hope Joseph/Armfield keep him possessionless and make him have a cry after the game...
