Play it at stadium australia

For the upteenth time they can’t- the stadium was reconfigured when the Swans contract went. It’s now basically a NRL/multipurpose stadium, the latter meaning big concerts etc, think Taylor Swift type of artists or whatever.

There is also State of Origin next Wednesday anyway

Boots don’t solve everything and I highly doubt anybody didn’t have the right footwear last weekend when blokes were falling over.

Plenty were not wearing the right ones last week not all of them were slipping, Blakey slips every week it’s hardly new if he does.

People are making a big deal out of nothing really. Pouring rain this week it will be the same for everyone and will make no difference. You’ll still win so does it matter

You realise no one is complaining about it because they think it somehow benefits the Swans, right? It's because no one wants to see someone get a serious injury because the ground is in a terrible state.

Fair enough if it's now a rectangle with fixed seats but Freo played against Essendon the night after State of Origin at Optus. 4 days is a long time to sort it out.

Perhaps they should postpone the game until the SCG is in better shape or a suitable alternative venue in NSW can be found.

3 games have already been postponed or relocated this year - why not a 4th.

Regards

S. Pete
I'd rather risk the surface than put the game off to the bye round to be honest if they were the only two options. I think it's a big disadvantage for the suns that it's occurred like this. Maybe they get the jump on their opponent if they make finals but recon they aren't going very far (probably going to struggle anyway this year).

It benefits no one- both teams play on the same ground and we are rubbish this year anyway. Nothing will happen and the game will be played at the SCG. It’s the best ground for everyone including fans. The rain will actually help.

The seats have all been moved with the last stage, you are closer to the game now. It’s heaps better than it was. No way are they playing a game on Sunday and having to turn it round to a SOO on a Wednesday. Bulldogs vs Broncos game is there on Friday but that gives them Saturday to Wednesday bigger turnaround

Won't someone think of the groundstaff!

I bet Adam Lewis would think differently if he was being sued by a player who was injured on a substandard surface.

"In explaining why the re-laid turf following an Andrea Boccelli concert crumbled in last Friday's encounter, Lewis pointed to the unpredictable weather, shade from the stands in that area of the ground and the Swans' training schedule as reasons."
  • Unpredictable weather - Who would have thought it!
  • Shade from the stands - Um, they have been there for years
  • Training schedule - I'm pretty sure the training shedule would have been booked in months ahead of time

it's crazy to me that our sport consistently cannot seem to figure out grass

you would think it would be pretty much a settled science by now

Ill-informed?? We were all watching it last week and unless your eyes were painted on, you could see the surface shifting quite often. Lets hope there are no injuries.

Luke, if players get injured due to the surface it does not matter whether both teams play on it. It is a problem, hopefully they sort it out.

If it’s sorted out for the Ashes that’s the main thing not as if we are making finals this year

That is obviously irrelevant. Whether Sydney are contenders or not matters not, the surface is sub standard. The Ashes will be at the SCG for the new years test regardless

Marvel has been worse in the past for starters. I’m not concerned one bit.
10 years + ago I’d agree, but not since. You’re not concerned because a. You don’t have to play on it and b. You’re an apologist for anything Sydney.

The surface is sub standard, that is undeniable.
