Notice something? not 1 on the board of directors of the SVG trust has a AFL background(aka they dont give a shit)
… and I wonder if they even really care that much about cricket. The SCG was once a grand ground back in the day but has mostly failed to develop and progress with the times. As a result, without major redevelopment by 2032, when the new Brisbane stadium comes on line, it will surely lose the right to host the top drawing Ashes and India Test matches to interstate and be relegated to minor tests status.

I sincerely doubt that, but agree it needs to brought up to standard

It was like 2 different grounds - business to the right of screen and beach party to the left.

Not in the same universe as good enough for elite footballers to be working - serious OH&S issue right there.

AFLPA should step in and condemn the AFL for allowing last night's game to go ahead, and demand immediate action to ensure last night's debacle doesn't happen again.

Probably more reflective of how little NSW care about AFL.
I think you’re right, but should Sydney still be playing there 20 or 30 years from now? I don’t hear any noise from the AFL about this longer term issue. It will be even more of an embarrassment than it is now. But probably too hard for Dill, Kane & co.

Theres the most simplest of simple solutions for the Swans here, but the "Powerhouse" Melbourne clubs would be very very jealous of it, and funnily enough the swans are probably the only club that could do it.

Build their own stadium.

Yes, building a new stadium is very simple. Just ask the people of Tasmania.

The Swans wouldn't need the government involved with their benefactors.

They absolutely would. We're talking about finding ~$1BN in funding. It will need state government, federal, AFL and private funding to be pulled together. And that's assuming that the NSW state government is even interested in stumping up hundreds of millions for a sport that is still behind the rugby codes in NSW. And I'm not even sure if the Federal government would jump in...they didn't for Docklands if I remember correctly.

They wouldnt need any of that. Theres Benefactors of the swans that would make the big clubs in Melbourne go weak at the knees.

If they follow the EPL model, and even some of the NFL new stadium build models, they can get it done

We're talking $1BN. Basil Sellers and his Swans mates will not be stumping up that amount of cash for the sakes of the club. It will need to be private and public money to do such a thing. And they'll need to find the land (which happens to be somewhat limited in Sydney...particularly in the Eastern suburbs where the Swans have their identity.

Land is an issue no doubt, but they can also borrow money.

Tottenham Hotspur borrowed a huge sum to finalise funding for their stadium, Swans can follow this model.

The venue would generate enormous income, and lets be honest the SCG is very tired and old. Will be the worst major capital city stadium in Australia by a long way by 2032.

Should just play at Accor to play it safe.

They can't with the new configurations. They sure aint transferring games to Giants stadium which can be just as bad and is a nightmare to get to.

On no planet would there be a need for a new stadium and where are you plonking this, not as if there's a spare x thousand hectares to build a stadium plus parking facities. NSW/Sydney are already crammed with space. Taxpayers will blow a stink if they paid for a new stadium that's not needed.

It's just unfortunate some silly opera concert stuffed the ground happens meh it's in a year we suck so who really cares

Pretty naive comment this

The league and Venues NSW will care if someone does a knee or ruptures an achilles this weekend.

Lawsuits galore.
