Yes!

I did 13 pages of creative last time and it was a bit much. So I'm thinking 40 ish minutes on creative and 80 on essay, depending on stimulus for each.

Yeah exactly. An essay, the more you can say, and delve into your texts, the better. Creatives, you can write a lot less and still get a brilliant mark.

In my Trial my mark split was 21/20 (Essay/Creative) but my time was split something like 90/30.

lol, the highest mark in our trials was like - 21 for the essay (i got 16 because i went against the question and it wasn't as strong as if i did) and something ridiculously low for the creative because we got 2 prompts that we started our stories with and then went on to write 2 extracts which everyone misinterpreted to mean 2 full stories, which i did.

our teacher is a harsh, harsh marker :(

Ouch.

Our highest was like 25 for the essay 25 for creative I think, not by the same person though.

Better luck for the actual exam though! :thumbsu:

2 hours for 2 responses is so much more civilised that 40 mins!!

Essay should be ok but i'm a little worried about creative - i have a good story IF i can remember exact quotes and link it properly to the stimulus ... apparently my link in trials was too superficial and that's why i was marked down!!

Enough of extension for me though ... i need to get into French mode for tomorrow ... I may possibly hurt myself after the listening section!!

I try and integrate the ideas of Coleridge etc. into my Creative but got told I was dealing with too much... I have no idea how to sustain a Creative without constantly addressing new issues though. :(

Maybe just centre it around a reaction to an un-Romantic way of thinking? That way you've got a single track on which to develop what you want to say.

Yeah, I'm thinking of centring it around a flower or something and having the guy think about how organic and free-flowing it is, and how it's so much better to be unrestricted, and how the Englightenment wants to restrict everything.

Yeah, ironically, I don't connect romanticism to Romanticism much... I could send you a piece I've written, if I have any on my Computer, but if I do they're likely to be my worse ones.

I'll type up my Trial one if you'd like. PM me your email and I'll send it to you tomorrow?

Only if you have time in which you have not got anything else to do. Modern and Chem (don't know if you do Chem) are coming up and I know the workload :)

My creative is very un-Romantic!! It's an appropriation of a Wordsworth poem - Lines from above Tintern Abbey ... it's good if i can link it because it's got a lot of Idealism/connection with nature etc and i have the freedom to turn it into a diary or letter to play with form if i want too.

Exactly! But without a pre-prepared response it is extremely difficult to get the depth and sophistication needed for good marks ... it's exactly the same with the essays too ... it's ridiculous - the whole unit is basically memorisation!!

True, which is why they've kind of overhauled how they do the paper by replacing King Lear in which you did nothing but spew the way the text was received with Julius Caesar in which you analyse the construction to see the effect it may have on audiences.

Most people in NSW have 10 or 12 units, meaning 5 or 6 subjects. Although it is risky to prepare a creative, know its general outline and go in head first hoping to get the best, it makes everything easier when you have 2 or 3 other subjects that are syllabus oriented - Sciences, humanities.

I go in with characters and personalities pre-prepared so i can get a voice coming through my text, allowing me to incorporate the stimulus easily. I freak out a lot :)

Yeah it's way too difficult otherwise!! I have a basic plot outline and a couple of other stories which are just settings/introductions if i really can't link my original story but it's unrealistic to think that nearly everyone that goes in to that exam doesn't have something prepared!!

Mental Health CPA is all done!!! Have my Acute Care CPA next week, then 4 exams the week after and then I'm FREE!!

Well not really, I have clinical placements, but at least there's no more Uni :p

K, thank you so much for that essay! It's really helped me expand my otherwise limited knowledge of Wuthering Heights! That essay is really great, you look well prepared to do well. :):thumbsu:

I'm not really passionate about any of the texts, though I do empathise with Keats as a staunch Atheist - though my creatives seem to have a mind of their own. ;)

Done 2/4 of my exams for uni, i hate uni exams. They are a lot harder than school exams to me. Im so over uni work. 2 weeks and then im off to Europe and then Thailand. Hooray.
