FML Trials are killing me. 78/100 in History was my only good result... (6th in the year out of 90), failed 3U Maths, 93/120 in Maths 2U which I dunno where that puts me in the year, sitting on 24/30 for 2U English Belonging paper with an essay out of 15 to get back, and dunno about the other paper.

I haven't gotten my results yet. Will enjoy the 2 weeks until I get them back :)

Extension 2 handed in.

Signed, sealed, delivered. I started hating my own work towards the end.

That's the horrible part .. i didn't even watch my ext 2 film before i handed it in last week ... and now i have drama IP due mon but i've just got to do all the printing ...

So glad trials are over though - reading these boards became my latest form of procrastination over the last 2 weeks!!!

Really? I started liking mine more as it begun to look like a finished product. Handing it in tomorrow morning.

Do we have to do another declaration stating it's all our own work?

Well i fnished my film a while ago but it was just watching it over and over and over and over to find and fix all the tiny things - that was the issue ... oh and the logbook - I HATE LOGBOOKS!!!!

i only had to sign a form when i handed it in - don't actually know what i was signing away but i'm sure it's fine =)

Yes, but I would like to have done more. Word limit, boundaries, connect it to other work.

I feel like I should have done poetry. Romanticism, neo-classicism, modernism, skepticism, postmodernism... would have been delightful to do.

Why the hell must UNSW mid sem breaks be a different week to USYD's? Most of my mates are at USYD so my plans for my week off are limited. Really annoying. Like i've made new friends at UNSW of course but all my best mates from school etc. are still at uni.

And another gripe about uni, why the **** can't they tell us the exam schedule earlier?!?! Trying to finalise a trip overseas but i can't book flights yet cause i would be leaving around the exam period and they won't tell me timetable yet.:thumbsdown:

I did most of that shit over 10 years ago. Get with the program.

Do what interests you. Remember you can do arts majors in the science faculty and whatnot. It's so flexible K, all you need to worry about it getting into anything(which you don't actually need to worry about) at the Uni you want to go to (Sydney :D) and then after your first year you can transfer if you don't like it.

UNSW can go to hell.

They just brought out the draft exam timetable and if it stays as it is, it has just buggered up my travel plans. Ive been waiting for so long for this to come out and now it has ****ed me.

Did you receive the e-mail from the Vice Chancellor? There are going to be changes made, so fingers crossed the changes will work in your favour!!

Yeh i did, but before the email came, my mate and i changed the plans which look like they should work, it's just we'd have a shorter time over there.

So yeh fingers crossed. I need one exam to be made 1 week earlier and everything is fine!

Communism's problem is that while in theory it is the perfect form of governance, in practice it's reliance on human's working to the best of their abilities and to ignore the lure of power is faulty, as it tries to change basic tenants of what it means to be human. Human's will always be inherently lazy and inherently greedy, and for Communism to assume otherwise is faulty.

The mass murder and human rights violations pretty much come out of that, in that whoever manages to get in charge of a Communist nation won't want to relinquish that power and will do whatever is possible to corrupt the society and feed them propagandistic lies.

Haha no problem.

If you want a specific example with Stalinist Russia, why not point out the nature of Stalin's assumption of power. If my memory of Russian history serves me right (and a bit of Animal Farm), Lenin wanted to give power to Trotsky, but Stalin banished him from Russia and spread propagandistic lies about him, and put out a contract to kill him. The power of greed can be overwhelming...

Yep, I agree.

Communism isn't the problem, humans are, or vice versa.

To answer the question, because to put into place a system that strikes at th very foundations of human nature you need to oppress undesirable thoughts. That's why glasnost and perestroika effectively ended the USSR; the force was removed and there was no icentive, so why stick with it?

Although I think you can br defensive of Communism as well. Our capitalist view on the word regards anything other than it as inferior. Under Lenin in the heyday of the October Revolution, Communism flourished because he gave a voice to the peasant farmer (basically all Russians). Stalin took thus same power away through collectivization. Brezhnev and Chernenko allowed the USSR to stagnate for their own selfish causes. Khrushchev, Andropov and Gorby were left with the spat out, shat on remains of Soviet Communism.

I think you can argue it is the leader as much as the ideology, but I digress.

Rule with an iron fist the subservient peoples of Russia.

****, I love Modern.
