Shit..

2 MASSIVE assignments due on Monday for VA,
on top of the 20% weighting of the maths test

I got 85+% on my other one so I HAVE TO DO GOOD or my score will get dragged down..
**** YOU SELECTIVE SCHOOLS.

Need anything in particular? I've sorted out a few things, let me know what you need and I can help you out. Go to the study day @ Knox too, its run by teachers and goes by the syllabus.

Know I've probably missed this - do you know of any other similar days? Reeeeeally struggling with 3 unit.

I think its on Sunday, so you haven't missed it. Maybe call them up to see if you can still make it? It'd be good to go to. I'm not sure if I'm going atm.

There's this seminar;

http://www.hscandcareers.com.au/files/55431237341721HSCSeminarProgram2009.pdf

That I'm going to which has a range of things, but not sure of how much use it'd be for Romanticism.

For now,

http://www.bookrags.com/studyguide-romanticism/intro.html

+ if you're doing Frankenstein for your Comparitive Study, it'd help. Or just read it to understand Romanticism; its portrayed in a big, obvious way.

If you could come sit in our class for a day, you'd get anything. our teacher is awesome!

Maybe have a look at our EE1 discussion board?

http://groups.google.com.au/group/mghs-romanticism?hl=en

Hope it helps you. It really helped me, lol.

I'm busy all of Sunday unfortunately! That's a bummer.

Awesome, thanks though, I'll give those links a look!

What school you go to out of interest?

Macarthur Girls.

Its not selective or private or anything, but think of it as the best non-selective public school in Western Sydney.

Not that it counts for much, but whatever.

I've heRd of macarthur.. I thought it was a little closer to my school... Still now I'm going to get bugged where I've heard of Macarthur before

Macarthur is in Parramatta. One of our Year 12's last year came first in ESL English in the state, maybe there?

Umm.. we're involved in heaps of extra curricular activities otherwise & the director of the DET loved our school (And our modern class which was a very omg experience - "are they always that smart?". Our teacher almost kissed us all lmao) which was in the nooospaper.

I love my school. I flunked the selective school test on purpose because I wanted to go to Macarthur.. since its a 10 minute walk max from my house.

..see how I talk too much?

Oh, Alex/Stat I got 19/20 for my Viva. Super ****ing awesome! Its my favourite and best subject atm, haha :D

Its, 20% anyway. Doesn't matter much in front of the report and the reflection.

Reflection - 50%, as much as the MW. Talk about huge..

QMA is going ok, im trying to do the excel computing assignment for semester 1 (im assuming u had to do something like it too) atm and im really battling with it. Yeh annuities were a barrel of laughs...though i must say i prefer QMA to accounting, most boring thing i think i have ever done, including HSC english. What subjects are u doing this year?

Oh yes. I remember that assignment! Just keep playing with the program until you know what you're doing. Hehe, I hope the QMA quizzes aren't too hard for you! Have you started on matrices? I liked them. How are you finding Micro? And what's your elective?

I love accounting! Have you done Perdicso yet?

And I am currently studying Accounting 2A, Business Transactions, Business Finance and Astronomy (Gen Ed). :)

yeh the QMA assignment has actually turned out well. me and one of my mates in my group took part A and the other 2 boys are currently doing part B and we got full marks so they hav got some work to do! especially as part B is harder, oh well ive done my part! yeh quizes arent too bad, could be a lot worse, and yeh ,matrices are ok. in fact, you've just reminded me that i have to do an online one this weekend (worth a massive 1%), so thanx for that! ive really been lazy with my work though, really need to do more with exams coming up.

micro is pretty boring to me atm, but im sure that's first year stuff and my elective is capital markets and institutions which is kinda interesting

good lord, i'm despising accounting atm and perdisco really isn't endearing accounting to me! i think i'm about 1/3 of the way through and i think i've got about half of it right so far, so im happy with that!

how are you finding 2nd year comm?

Hey! I'm doing Commerce as well! Hahaha.. second year! :p

How are you finding QMA? LOL.. trust me. Once you start on annuities.. everyone will be cursing the subject.

enjoy becoming mcdonalds managers girls. that's what most of buddies at uni are saying they are going to become. competition for jobs are becoming more fierce and it seems most employers want "experience" (at least 4-5 years of it). some of them them have floated the idea of starting a business by pooling their moneis together.

+ coleridge was high on opium in kublai khan etc... thread pg2.

Hahaha! That is so not group work! The second part is definitely much harder! ARGH.. I hate those stupid online quizzes. Who's your QMA lecturer?

And yeah, Micro is pretty bad. Macro is worse. It's interesting but it's kind of confusing. I recommend PASS classes. They are really helpful.

Oh awesome, you planning to major in finance? :)

And yeah, perdisco was wtf for me. The layout and everything if pretty different to what you're taught so it kinda does take a while for you to adjust to it. You'll do fine! =)

And Year 2 Commerce is better. You sort of know what they expect from you. In saying that, if you're planning to also major in Economics, then the workload is CRAZY! I don't major in economics but a few of my friends do and they're suffering.

When are you enrolling for your next core subjects for next semester?

Yep. The employers require quite alot of experience. There are plenty of opportunities for Commerce kids. There are alot of programs and internships for us. Well, it depends on what you want to do with your degree. Accounting is easy to look for jobs, but in saying that, they are employing less students. Finance - not so much ever since the financial crisis.

yeh it's not exactly group work but it ended up working out for us cause we got full marks in both so im absolutely stoked with that.

Still absolutely despising acct. no good at it, hate it and no interest in it and i may hav to do it again next semester cause i am just that bad at it!

doing pretty well in the others so that's all good but yeh i hate acct so much. i reckon i'm gonna major in economics so that work load doesnt sound good but im gonna find macro better if HSC sconomics was any indication, so i reckon economics will be the best option for my major.

yeh ive enrolled for my 2nd semster, doing macro, acct 1b, qmb and marketing as my option. though as i said there is a good chance ill be redoing acct 1a next semester unfortunately.

what u doing next semester and how's it all going for u at uni?

Last assignment for the semester handed in today! Only CPA and then exams to go. And then 4 weeks of clinical (at Hornsby for 1 week and Westmead for 3), then 1 week off, then...back to Uni for semester 2. Pretty full on. But I can't wait for clinical!!! REAL PATIENTS!

Finished my monster of an essay for English Extension 1 last night... 4000 word analysis on Coleridge's poems, Wuthering Heights and Manfred and the concepts of Romanticism they portray (with specific reference).

Took me 11 hours to do from 4pm to 3am.

All while I was sick with teh swine*.

*May or may not be true.

Holy shit,
I hate hearing all the work you have to do.

It make's it so annoying.
Hey ssfc, how many units of english and modern/ancient history or whatever do you do?

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

i have four exams in 5 days.

control systems, vector calculus, linear math and mechanics 2.

this shit is so hard i dont even know what kind of idiot could come up with it. some of the math is so ridiculous i wouldn't even wish the pain upon my worst enemy :(:(:(:thumbsdown:.

Engineering?

its paraphrased as "drinking from a firehose". its really brutal the way they mark you. it's like you either have "IT" or dont.

i came to uni expecting it to a joy ride but the exams are 2 weeks out and i have gone to 80% of lectures but i would still need to study 4X 500 page books just to be mint for the exam. thats like doing the hsc 4 times, twice every year.

Please Someone Help me and define economic cost.

I like looked all over the internet, it makes no sense.
Is it the same as opportunity cost?

Arghh.

For Year 11:

English (3U) (Yr 12 4U)
Maths (3U) (may drop one unit in yr 12)
Business Studies
Economics
Modern History or Ancient.. Not sure yet
Bio
Music

Thats to many units, just outta curiosity did you guys here choose subjects you enjoy or subjects that scale well?
Also another dilemma

I LOVE history i cant do both ancient and modern im just to stressed with all the other ones, I HATE like 20th and late 19th century history cause its mostly political and wars, DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON 21st century.
BUT I love the 16 th century, its the topic I want to do for my major essay thing in year 12 and I know a fair bit about it.. But I can't stand the 20th, 19th and 21st. Even the 18th sucks a tad.

If I do ancient I know jack shit about it, But I'd find it more interesting... But I'd be disadvantaged dramatically on my major essay....

Help Would GREATLY be appreciated.. not even help OPINIONS are good as well.

Well doing subjects you enjoy should be the way to do HSC but imo the HSC is about doing the subjects u know u can do the best in (often they are the ones u enjoy) over the ones that might scale the best (except for 4U maths which has simply incredbile scaling basically no matter how bad you do).

For 3u maths, i did quite well in it but i did needed a bit of help from a tutor (that was the one subject i had a tutor for) and i saw her once every 2 weeks and that got me through it quite well. Only do 3u maths agian if ur confident u can do well in it, cause if u dont do well u get ****ed over by scaling (at least that was the case with some of my mates).

Subjects like Eco (which i did) and Music and Bio and the historys are subjects that if u get great marks in u will benefit highly from scaling but if u get good or lower marks the scaling drops off quite dramatically.

(the scaling obviously differs from HSC and school exams and whatever)

hope that helps...
