What do people think of Canadian Club as a regular drop?
i dont drink any whiskey regularly anymore, but i did like a good CC and coke back in the day. nowadays though i find it waaaaaay too sweet. so CC and dry it would be for me.

otherwise, my favourite songle malt would have to be Lagavulin, then Laphroig (which a mate of mine once described like licking an ashtray)

i tend to stick with what i know because i've had a few differnt ones as gifts, and if they're not my taste i dont want to risk spending $100 on them. so i dont have a great knowledge of many varieties. but i had a cracking 18YO Glenfiddich not long ago. the difference between that and your 10YO or whatever was staggering.

Yeah, that's like 16 standard drinks at once. I reckon there's a bit of embellishment going on there.
Unfortunately believable...Did the same thing myself in my teens. Up there with the stupidiest things I have ever done, still have a scar to show for it. With that said my pennace is paid I really enjoy a decent drop now.

Funny, came looking for the alcohol thread and found this.

Can anyone recommend a decent bottle of scotch for father's day, at around the $40 range?

It is too late for fathers day but my Dad gave me the heads up about a bottle called Glen Grant, is on special or was over the weekend at both Celebrations and IGA liquor near my place if this is convenient to anyone? was 40 bucks reduced from 50, and has a good flavour and is pretty forgiving with a drop of water. Not going to get many better scotches for this much i have found.

Also is Single Malt.....

Also keep the advice coming guys has been great

Bought a bottle of Bailie Nicol Jarvie at Dan's the other day. Opened it up, seeing it's a pretty wintry/scotchy night in Melbourne.

Wow, awesome value - cheap (in a good way) but tasty. Will purchase again. :thumbsu:

Was that on the advice in the first post? it isnt a world beater but for the money is a pretty good scotch. Cannot get many cheaper without going for the real bottom of the barrel varieties.

Guys, apparently BWS are getting rid of Lagavulun 16yo @ $55. OMG.

I rang all my local BWS stores and they are all sold out already. I am in the North West. I urge all you Scotch lovers to head to your local BWS!!!
