Don't believe everything you read in today PR savvy times...there was definately some bad blood at the end and the dressing room story happened.

I imagine there was some anger, clarke would have been planning the next 12 months and hussey would have been one of the insiders helping him plan and then bang he's gone.

Hussey was my favorite player but if i was clarke i would have been pissed off as well, it's a big leap between that and a full on feud though.

I love it when people say "don't believe everything you read" and then assert rumours as truth in the same sentence.
I have a contact inside the organisation that said there was truth to the story - hence my comment. You can choose to believe what you want. But not all fairy tales are true.

Do you believe that Craig McDermott "resigned" just because there was a press conference to that effect?

In fact he was sacked by CA and given the option of going quietly on his terms, which he took and then started applying for every available bowling job on the planet.

Do you mind hinting at why McDermott was sacked?

Do you mind hinting at why McDermott was sacked?

It was related to his personal life, his wife is a bit of a unit and was giving it to him not stop - it was starting to affect his performance and ineterfere with the team on the road and as such CA said no more.

Hey, I don't know what's true and what's not. Just saying, it's a funny post. "Don't believe everything you read, because I am an anonymous forum poster and I say different".

I know of at least three press conferences / media releases from CA that were out and out bull shit designed to throw the media/public off the scent of the truth. Hence my reluctance to believe much that comes from them, particularly denials of "alleged" incidents that have been told to me straight out by persons that wer present. If my wording amuses you, so be it, but all I am saying is that if you believe everything fed to you by CA as fact you would be sadly mistaken.

Is the contact somebody directly involved?

A current player/coach ect? or just some random who works for CA but isn't in day to day contact with the team?

If it is somebody truly involved in day to day matters aren't you kinda screwing them over by leaking what they told you all over a public forum?

Or is that why they leaked it so you would tell everybody?

Even if it is from a real source it won't help change the culture at CA, if the disgruntled people on the inside are too gutless to actually make a real stand and their only weapon is anonymous leaks then nothing will change for the better.

Look, I basically agree with the whole "PR departments spin a lot of crap" argument. Just saying, that alone is not really enough for me to assume that every unsubstantiated rumour I hear is true.

There's always two versions of every story circulating and as far as I can tell most people pick the one that they want to believe.

Personally I tend to take the official story on face value until I have a compelling reason to think otherwise. If only because it's less harmful to assume Clarke/Hodge/Rogers/O'Keefe/Martyn/whoever isn't a dickhead when in fact he is, than assuming he is a dickhead when he actually isn't.

Publicly I will not reveal my source, but it's pretty common knowledge what happened, yet it has never been reported. Did you not think it was kind of weird that he gave up a plum job, where he was going well to then take on Ireland? Go and privately ask any cricket scribe what happened and they'll tell you straight.

I'm not here to out my source, I'm merely trying to give a bit of the real picture of what is going on, because as the public we get fed a fair bit of shit by CA. Once upon a time we had Roebuck to sniff out the crap, but he''s gone and no one is holding CA to account. I have got better things to do than make up shit rumours about a game an team that I love. But I am not silly enough to believe everything that comes from CA as fact, because quite clearly it's not.

All you have to do is be half in the circle and you can hear a fair bit of what is going on. As for CA's media people, they're some of the biggest knobs going around.

Hoping that was all just media talk, lyon and hussey are apparently best mates so if the clarke/hussey fallout was true you would hate to think that would have influenced the move to dump lyon.

Lyon was hardly hard done by to be dropped.

I would have kept him but there were enough reasons to drop him for a test to consider before we start going on with conspiracy theories.

What reasons exactly?

So? The person replacing him still has to be putting performances on the board.

So?
If you aren't performing well you can't complain if you get dropped.

Lyon himself was selected based on zero performance.

His performances merited him staying in the side, particularly ahead of Doherty and Maxwell. You can look back at his stats and say he did stuff all over the summer but look at how our quicks rolled Sri Lanka, the one match he could have done better was in Adelaide against SA where as everything else there is nothing to go on.

I know one thing for sure, if going forward doherty and maxwell are handed the same expectations as lyon then neither man will survive 10 tests.

Does anybody really think after two years of test cricket(mostly on spinners graveyard aussie tracks) that either man will have an average of 32 with the ball?

They will have a few bad games, the blood will be in the water and they too will be dumped and before you know it we are back to 14 spinners in 19 tests.

You hear all the commentary about having to bowl "the Indian line and length", which Lyon didn't really do last Test.

I am guessing Lyon was given specific instructions to bowl a certain way, and couldn't/wouldn't do it. That's some justification for being rested so he can sort it out.

I don't think Doherty was going to stay in regardless of performance. He was just an extra option for India. It will be interesting to see what they make of their performances. Maxwell probably goes for a little too much to be a sole spinner.
