When pressed he states he can't say anything yet, but when Essendon need something leaked on their behalf, he's their boy.

With Maher having become his lapdog, the number of times I switch over from the Essendon Apologists Hours is increasing.
Yeah, I couldn't farkin believe it. I obviously expect it from Tim -- and it's kinda tolerable from him, given his position -- but Maher's first words were stuff like: "Well, we watched an interested interview from a guy who's obviously angry, jilted, was paid for it, so, I suppose we should take it with all that in mind." glory be me!! I was expecting everyone outside of Essendon to come out in favour of Robinson, and I was shocked that it was about fifty-fifty from talkback calllers.

I don't really wanna get involved with the biased idiots on the "Dean Robinson" thread, but I reckon, despite the fact that The Wep was obviously angry and scorned (etc, etc), he came across as totally believable, and I reckon Hird is farked. Robinson is obviously not smart enough to be THAT good an actor. I suppose he may have misunderstood a couple of the inferences from Hird, et al, but he was definitely telling the truth as he sees it.

From the start, Hird has been the least credible person in this.

Well, Maher decided not to even discuss any of the Essendon drug saga this morning.

Not sure if that's better or worse to totally ignore the biggest story this sport/country will see for a long time.

mark allen also put a ban on the dons saga talk recently too. i think they've had enough of it. as hosts and presenters they have to discuss issues and inevitably will let their guard down and express their own legit opinion. i think its such a complex issue that they prefer to avoid it altogether. maher is mates with watson, who works for the afl broadcaster and is a fatherly central figure.

They're also an AFL mouthpiece broadcaster. SEN would have shutdown if it wasn't for the extra AFL content on the station.

Mark Allen has stated a few times he's sick of the talk and wants to talk about positive football news. Basically, bury their head in the sand and tell us "we've got the greatest game in the world".

To be fair to them, they talk it about it and they get accused of having conflicts of interest and are the AFL's mouthpiece or they don't talk about it and get accused of ignoring arguably the biggest story in the game.

To be fair to Marko, I've heard him talk about it a lot, both giving his opinion, with talkback callers and other journalists and so called 'experts' in the area. So I don't see how it's a matter of 'burying his head in the sand', it's simply a matter of him, like most of us, sick of rehashing the same shit over and over again. Many of us prefer the positive football stories rather than the constant negativity about our game. Just ask everyone about their thoughts on Caro ;)

yes i think everyone is sick of it. once the findings are handed down im sure there will be discussion.

i do think that deep down inside, presenters know where their bread is buttered and will hold back accordingly.

I know not everyone is a fan of David King, but his work with the morning glory boys is actually pretty funny. Was having a big old chickle yesterday morning when they were talking about Tim's drinking.

Just on Lucas, heard some of his "Friday football preview" on "Harf Time" on Friday (he was on instead of Nathan Thompson) and thought he did a really good job. He seemed very well-researched about all the teams/players he was discussing, didn't just trot out the usual cliches etc. Lucas came across as far more knowledgeable than Thompson and the absence of all the unnecessary in-jokes and inanity that intrude when Thompson is on with Harford was refreshing.

I can't listen to him on this issue, after he held American Sports up as Poster Boys for not signing up to WADA.
Fancy putting Major League Baseball and its appalling handling of PED's up on a pedestal.
He thinks being controversial loud and obnoxious gets people listening.
It's a pity because most of his shows I found enjoyable, but I've stopped listening.
Got a few mates who feel the same

I have listened to Finey for a very long time and take the good with the bad, but last night I had to turn off.

It's as if he took a stance on this issue and feels he has to justify that stance every time something comes up that might contradict his stance.

He needs to have a read of this article http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...-questions-20130803-2r6cx.html?skin=text-only

Not minding Finey's speech atm. My first trigger of sympathy towards Essendon.
The most compelling thing about it is that Wilson and Smith shill for the AFL - it is interesting that everyone who is speaking in public pot Hird. It was an interesting point of view

I agree with this as well - the orgy of self congratulation of how is the only one brave enough to stand up against the AFL was a bit much after the tenth time he said it

The Arsenal, New England Patriots,
SEN were making a conscious effort to keep off drug talk today -it was wall-to-wall Port Adelaide, Richmond and Collingwood positivity, Monfries' leg-break kick etc.

Robbo did attack fans who abused Saad and Watson though

He made a massive rod for his back to begin with and now he's gotta defend his indefensible stance.Listening to the overnight guys is just awful also.
I love it how we all should wait for the findings and not jump to conclusions yet Watson can claim Wilson gets a brief from the AFL. So it's okay to draw conclusions on one hand Hey Tim!!
The nuts and bolts for me is Hird said he is "Responsible" for the footy dept.
Then he should assume some responsibility!!
