No, no. I heard Thommo today as well. I hadn't made up my mind yet on Adam. I'm not sure what to think of it. The two of you come across a bit hard. Did anyone hear Finey and Phil Cleary last night? Got very heated!

Discussing the new structure of the VFL - Cleary wants 5 stand alone VFA clubs and 10 stand alone AFL reserve clubs - Cleary feels that the VFA clubs retain their existence and get kudos by winning premierships.

Finey wants the VFA clubs to drop down to a third tier - He feels that the attidude of the stand alone/aligned clubs makes a mockery of the competition.

I agree with Cleary.

It was cringeworthy radio, wasn't it? He could hardly have sounded less assured if he tried.

He genuinely seemed to think that Scott coming across as a good bloke and an Australian is relevant to whether or not Scott choked!

He also suggested that because some of Scott's putts missed by inches, as opposed to missing way short/long etc., it was not a choke. It's a pass/fail situation, you either get the job done or you do not. Some people deliver in clutch situations and some do not. Scott failed to deliver on this occasion, most likely because the pressure got to him and he choked. Just call it like it is!?

The problem for Thommo is that now he has made a rod for his own back. Will be interesting to see how faithful he is to his views on choking the next time the topic comes up.

Maybe as an ex professional sportsperson he has a better feel for what goes through an athlete's mind at the top level, than you do.

Easy for the average pleb to be critical when they have absoloutly no idea of the circumstances.

By the way, did Woods choke by taking triple bogey early on?

my opinion was more a reflection on the media in general, with their opinions changing by the minute to suit their own personal agendas.

on scott, i felt after day 3 something wasnt right, and that he'd falter. but on the inside i was praying it wouldnt happen....

Im more concerned about the fact that if richmond are going it along there will be THREE tigers in the comp: richmond, werribee and coburg

Okay, I know this is nitpicking but when Scott was talking to the journalist from Johannesburg about South African sport the other night, they started talking about the Super Rugby finals. Maybe I was half asleep but I swear the journalist had the semi-final match ups the other way around. He thought the Stormers were playing the Crusaders and the Chiefs were playing the Sharks. It’s actually Stormers vs Sharks and Chiefs vs Crusaders. Was I dreaming or did that really happen?

So you have to have been a professional athlete in a similar position in order to be qualified to have an opinion? May as well shut BigFooty down if that's the case.

I don't mind Thompson generally, and respect his right to an opinion, but he came across as if deep down he believed that Scott choked while trying to argue that Scott did not choke. His arguments were illogical, naive and irrelevant and the whole thing smacked of him trying too hard to live up to his "good bloke" persona.

loved him going the boot on reports covering the olympics being:

1. average joe at the sport they are covering
2. making it more about them than the games (actually watson made the point, RH agreed. watson wouldnt say that if 7 had the games)

but really liked it when he said there's such a saturation on footy reporters that journos just have to write some crap to fill in space.
