How long has Tony Shibekky been the MCG announcer I have been to many AFL and cricket matches and never even realised even though i have heard him on SEN as well doing the sports news.
But when he arrived they said late for the show after the cricket because he was working at the MCG I thought they meant the sport updates or something like that.
When he came on and they said he was late because he was the announcer at the MCG i realised i recognised his voice, how long has he been doing that job as well as SEN ?

He made a famous error when introducing the Windies onto the field Boxing Day 2001, so before then. I'd guess about 10 years.

Before that, amongst other things he used to be the commentator on the show Gladiators.

Well done to SEN for the cricket coverage of the 20/20 game the other night i thought it was fantastic.
The bits of interviews that the played from players was better than even the ABC ever do.

I was listening to the next show on SEN after the cricket and couldnt believe it when that old boxing bloke Howard Lee said he had been listening to the cricket on the ABC instead of SEN , couldnt believe he would say that on SEN.

listened to the coverage of the 20/20 and thought there was too much yelling and over the top stuff eg. michael zapone doing the soccer,
they don't need that mmm crap,alright a bit of excitment but don't go over the top like that dud zapone

around 2 years ago they use to take commentry off bbc five live of the premier league match that kicked off at 2am. Use to be a good listen
Anybody know why they stopped doing this? im guessing it had something to do with the cost of rights etc

tony is hopeless he thought the final of ther pura cup was four days and a caller rang in to say its 5 days and how come tony didnt even know how long the pura cup final is when he is at the mcg all the time.
BP never makes those mistakes and i hope he is on tonite after midnight he is the most profesional at sen

bbc world service still runs on a saturday night, they only do second half commentry
Generally SEN would be doing a different game, and in full, was quality

Maybe there was a reason behind this i'm not too sure but it isn't a big deal. I think people who listen to SEN know what they get everybody who listens to SEN would know the cricket is always on the ABC and would know that SEN covers 20/20s.

There is some channel (near sen) with feeds of EPL but they spend 90% of the time updating every score going on in the world including things like Forrest Green vs. Northend (even while commentating a game).

Did anyone just hear Andrew, Tim and Billy(sorry I left you off the email but I didn't hear ya) interview Ron Walker about the GP. Andrew was a revelation as he went in hard and was amazing when he got Walker by the throat, Walker just got bitchy.

We will NEVER hear 3AW go in hard like that about the GP.

Thats why i don't listen to MG much, they are bloody hopeless at interviewing anyone not in footy. Didn't Andy Maher have a fight with Ron Walker last year on radio? Can remeber listening to something like that last year too.

The other funny thing about it is, that these three blokes are the first to jump up on a pedestal and shout out that Melbourne is the sporting capital of Australia, and even the world.

They'll then say its because we have the Melbourne Cup, The Grand Final, Australian Open Tennis and the F1 Grand Prix.

1026 ABC NewsRadio, one of the best stations for sports results each morning.

They do live EPL commentary Saturday night.

Sen are also covering the game so that makes it even worse. MG has had its day.

Because of Janet Jackson and Nipplegate, the Superbowl coverage is on 5 minute delay. I was following it on the web, which I assume that bloke was too, and saw the touchdown about 5 minutes earlier.

Think Doran stooged himself. As soon as the caller was put to air, he kept going on about how this is what movies are made from. I assumed New York got up and won as he did say New York were unbackable entering the game. Exactly like the sporting movies you see where the underdog gets up in the dying stages.

But Doran went on about how New England were going to be undefeated and how good Tom Brady is.
