anyone know if those two are still mates? Afterall it wasn't Finey's fault that SEN sacked Beva.

Hmm there has been speculation that they aren't but i reckon that's just speculation. I can't see why they wouldn't be good mates still. Like you said it wasn't Finey's fault.

Couldn't believe that Ex St Blunda coach today saying the Saints allowed the Doggies to win the game...... Geepers, so I guess Collingwood allowed all those teams in our 26 lossing Grand Finals to win! We could have won em all, we just didn't wanna.

I'll take a wild guess and say you're talking about Grant Thomas. Honestly this guy gives the listeners the impression he played in one of the mos successful football sides on the planet. He also coached a few flags didn't he?
why are stkilda fans so obnoxious and arrogant:thumbsdown:

I don't call up during the game to do it because they wouldn't give me enough time and would cut me off before getting into the report.

ANS give me as much time as I need.

why do you say that? are you sure they would? why wouldn't the listeners or the hosts be interested?

I know they would give you a short amount of time, but you gotta keep trying dude. It is great that you have detailed reports on ANS, but you have to try and get onto a program during the day. Even if you only get a very succinct report, at least you get something on. I know a lot of people will say they are not interested, but I think it is a good thing to have a bit of netball coverage on the radio seeing as Women's sport has such a miniscule percentage of airtime on SEN.

Like it or not SEN appeals to male listeners who generally aren't interested in netball.

Besides if every try hard sports journalist came on during the day when would it ever end ?

Bob from St Kilda with his Bowls report.
Jim from Epping with the Bocce report.
Dave from Ivanhoe with the rythmic gymnastics report.

It would end up being a nightmare and there are enough people who love hearing their own voice on radio to cause a problem eventually.

I don't call up because I like hearing my own voice though.

I do it for practice and not much else really.

Netball is one of the most participated sports in the country. What is wrong with having a report on the weelend's game by the Victorian team that goes for a few minutes once a week? And not only netball, but a number of sports dont get enough go on SEN. I love footy, but there is overkill of it during the week. Their is plenty of other sports to discuss but are not given a go.

Top effort by Wispy this morning in his Waste bit saying that Pratt was given Archers number 11. The amazing thing about this is that he actually writes the speech beforehand, so has plenty of time to think about it, but still f*cked it up...:D

Hear hear.

And this bloke is supposed to be a footy expert. Obviously doesn't watch our games.

sorry i missed it, what was wrong with what he said?

During his Watto's Waste, he gave it to Daniel Pratt for staging for a free after Jordon Lewis's love tap. Said Pratt is one of the games toughest players and that Glenn Archer chose him to give his number to.

Which is wrong, he gave his number to Michael Firrito.

Hi Ben....If you are looking for experience, the best way to get that is to take your show or idea for a show to community radio, like Southern FM, for example, in Moorabbin. You get an hour instead of a 5 min call in, you can get your shows on tape or cd and can track your improvement. Jay Mueller, from 3AW, and I did that for 18 months and we each learned an awful lot.

Thats good advice.

Sorry Ben - don't mean to be harsh. However when you do ring up it does come across like you are just using the call to 'practice'.
It just doesn't sound genuine to me.

Take Steve's advice and at least its then a case of WYSIWYG.

1. You will learn a hell of a lot more.
2. If you really are interested in promoting netball then one hour gives you far greater opportunities to play interviews, give game reports etc etc then a quick 5 minutes in the middle of the night.

if thats the case then you are not helping netball. netball needs committed journalists to be serious in their reporting. you might as well give reports on darts or coc.k fighting it would still be for practice.
