If Benny's reports raise the profile of netball, and the girls in turn do FHM/Ralph shoots and calendars wearing little if anything, I'm all for it.

Yeah. Not having a go at you, just bad timing over what some think SEN and this town stands for.

You mean SEN shouldn't be discussing waxing, facials, manicures and pedicures like they are right now?

Dimi just called in, he has a hairy chest and back and needs some advice :D

I'd say majority of listeners and Melbournians only really know AFL and nothing more.

Definitely disagree with that.

Its our number one sporting passion by a long long way, but to say we Melbournians, from as they say, "the sporting capital of the world" only really know about one sport is a bit rich.

Cricket, tennis, horse racing, F1, motor bikes and golf to name a few all have their major Australian yearly events in Melbourne. Not to mention we have the highest attendences in the A-league. Not to mention the one off events like Comm Games and the odd World Champs. I dare say you'll find more people in Melbourne open up their newspapers from the back first than any other city in this country.

But as for which sports rate best in Melbourne at this time of year. Its AFL and then daylight. The next club match isn't for another 10 days and today (a Tuesday) its not until the 8th page of sport in the Herald-Sun that there is another sport even mentioned. I think SEN probably cover their sports to a similar proportion at this time of year.

Stay tuned for a full wrap of the Vixen v Swifts game and general ANZ Championship report after 1am on All Night Sport.

Is after 1am the only time you can get access to the internet and phone from the BB house ?

Makes sense, I suppose.

Agreed, however I'm astounded how sports journalists know so little about sports other than AFL.

*puts hand up at the back of the class to give some examples*

A caller the other week called Doran to talk about the Man U draw with Blackburn. Doran replied by saying, so that should secure the title for them...

And what was his obsession with Chad Reed yesterday? Its like he thinks no one has heard of him.

Great post that should be the final word in the subject.:thumbsu:

Think yesterdays caller beats that one. Main purpose of his call was to praise how Fulham has got themselves out of the relegation zone when they were practically gone. Fulham have Portsmouth on the last day and it's likely Portsmouth will field a weakened lineup to prepare for the FA Cup final.

Doran's response... That's the beauty of the FA Cup isn't it? The fact you can still win some silverware despite maybe getting relegated.

You have to read that a few times to work out how extraordinary that line was. He was then quick to admit, he doesn't really know anything about that and pulg Carlos being on the show tomorrow, who does know something about football.

Did they end up reading my text out regarding metrosexualism?

I had to call up to do my netball report before one due to the beauty expert being on.

Needed a bit of extra time I did.

And the new undisputed king of the airwaves at SEN is Mark Doran.

A good result for the station and keep up the good work.

That is a much better survey than the first one from the year, which only covered 3 weeks, whereas this survey covers 8 weeks and is much more a true indication of audience share out there. I am happy that they are improving and hopefully they can get there average rating to a 5 or 6, although that would be very hard to attain.

Good ratings results are only a good thing for SEN and us listeners as more people will advertise with them and hopefully this means more money for resources to improve the station.

Anyone hear Doran talking about Gary Ablett playing for Victoria and suggesting he treat it like a game against lowly opposition, like say Fitzroy

He does realise Fitzroy aren't in the league any more doesn't he?

Didn't hear that. Was he talking about Ablett Snr? Maybe his mind time travelled to around 1995/96.

He was definitely talking about Gary Junior. Something about treating this week's game as a normal home and away game but against a weak club, such as Fitzroy, Fremantle or Melbourne. I can't remember how he worded it exactly, but he was talking about what might be said between Junior and Bomber in relation to playing this weekend.
