So I gather the big news to be announced at midday on SEN tomorrow is that they have secured the commercial radio rights for the Olympics.

Surely not...

Amazing effort if they do.

I've always thought ABC radio do an amazing job of sporting events like the Olympics. Really show Channel Seven up for how crap they cover it on TV.

Maybe they'll announce that Schibeccs will permanently fill in for Doran.

ABC still has the rights. SEN has the commercial rights. I doubt that anybody would bother to get the olympics on the commercial networks. It has been proven for the last olympics that they often don't do as well on the radio as they do on tv.

Doubt it mate, he just got the best ratings at the joint, they're not going to sack someone who is rating better than their big shows MG and TRH.

Olympics should be interesting. will be good but I'm betting by the end of its we'll be happy its over so we can get back to footy 23 hours a day.

Yeah I know what you meant about commercial rights. 3AW have done the olympics before and it pales in comparison to the ABC's coverage.

The Doran line was only wishful thinking.

There was a story in the papers a few months ago which suggested SEN may get the rights.The reason is that a Sydney radio station [2GB ? not sure] won the rights and then they on-sell them to other states.The main radio rival in Sydney is 2UE,sister station of 3AW,so the Sydney radio station aren't going to on-sell to 3AW.

Well after I post this lets hope that SEN read this and get him sacked from Saturday nights as well and bring back Finey.
Forget that Mark Franklin told us a hundred times last Saturday night that Vics beat Dream Team and again wasnt up to being able to tell us a single cricket score again .

In some sort of a weird competition which it sounded like he had done before as he was telling listeners to hold before he released a secret location he told listeners that he had hidden a prize in an emergency phone booth on the Eastern Freeway and that the fastest listener to drive their pull over and collect the prize then ring him on SEN would win.
I could not believe it 1am what sort of thing is that to ask young idiots to do and yes there were young idiots who did it and they rang in from the eastern Freeway saying that no prize was in the phone booth.
Now its 1am its dark trucks are flying past at 110 km and FRanklin is asking listeners to pull over and rdrive to the Eastern Freeway.
Then he has a listener tell him nothing is in the phone booth so he says that the security cameras must have caught him dropping off the prize.
If they did film you Franklin and they did take the prize then you are really a F**kwit pulling over yourself looking for somewhere to hide a prize.
And he waanted to even record the fastest times of listeners in some sort of a hall of fame.
FRanklin you are an idiot what happens when two listeners get smashed into by a truck as they look around at 1am on the side of the Eastern and what happens as more and more of your idiot faithful start arriving do they park one by one behind each other as more trucks fly past.
FRanklin I am not sure you should be that worried about SEN who i am sure will read this , maybe wait for the local cop shop and Vic roads they will have something to say about this and this sort of stupid prank is the last thing SEN would want in bad publicity.
I make some predictions Franklin and we will see who is right , you will not be doing Saturday nights soon , you will not be doing these pranks anymore and off the back of some future emails to the relevant authorities SEN and you will be very very embarrased at your childish actions last Saturday night in the coming weeks .
If you send your idiot faithful of next saturday night to another secret destination then I am wrong and you are right ...lets see now thats a nice fun game for you to play.

Actually that did strike me as the likely scenario. Its not like they'll send Marko to cover the gymnastics, Billy to the swimming, Richo to the athletics etc.

Seems that the Olympics is going to be the announcement. Billy let slip it was going to involve the 8th of the 8th.

Funny how an email to Eastlink and to TAC had immediate replys this afternoon with one asking me to call them with more information.
You may have just hung yourself with your two line post which sums up your attitude.
Do you honestly think that Kevin Bartlett would ask families to drive to the Burnley tunnel to find a family pass to the footy he has hidden in a wall crevice.
Do you think that the Run Home would ask listeners to race their cars to find a prize hidden in the tollgate sign on the Tullamarine Freeway.

Yes, this is concerning. You could argue that Essendon has the wrong board and the wrong coach. I have always been more realistic (some would say pessimistic) at where Essendon is at, and I would have picked Hardwick if the basis was who had the accurate view of our list. Hardwick did, Knights and the board did not.

I would like to see Knights grilled on this issue on On The Couch and on Footy Classified. I am prepared to back Knights, Horsborough can go and get ____ed for all I care.
