FFS! Snoran just said Tiger Woods only wins about a quarter of the majors he plays in.

Does he have any clue about golf?

That's like saying Bradman only scored centuries in a third of his test innings.

I don't have SEN on atm, prefer to listen to my mp3s at work, but its interesting he said that as yesterday he wanted the French Open to change its surface because one player was too dominant on it.

So if Roger wins his 6th straight Wimbledon in a few weeks, do you think he'll say the same about that?

He'll probably come up with some weak excuse about Wimbledon has so much history behind it so you can't change the surface. Then there's the fact that most of the Australian players of recent times like the grass and play their best on it.

Has he made any mention of how Ox called him a muppet of his suggestion?

Alot of personal attacks on Doran recently so I'll add one more :p.

When he does finally say something interesting while interviewing, he usually gives himself a pat on the back in the one breath. Gotten used to hearing "See what I just did there?" Like special comments on himself.

edit - Was going to type that he would defend his suggestion as "theatre". He just used it when a caller mentioned it to him before. Having an opinion and then claiming you only said it for a bit of theatre is pretty weak. It's just admitting he only said it to get a reaction and he doesn't actually feel that way.

Yeah, what the hell was that abot. He has no idea about anything. Did anyone want to rip up the surface when Borg was dominating?
Dominant players and teams are one of the great aspects of sport. In 50 years time we will look back and remember Nadal for being an awesome clay court player. Without dominance, sport has no legends.

Is Dasher39 right in stating SEN doesn’t cover all sport equally enough or is the S.S. American right that the station gives a broad coverage?
Hungry For Sport, 12/6/08

09:00 - 10:00
All’s AFL, all’s fine, then, M. Rev. Panel - here’s trouble. Putz Smith goes hard on Goodes, KB can be heard murmuring under Putz’s words and it’s gloves-up time; KB takes all punches from Putz and callers without raising a sweat; never flustered. Caller goes KB on rules and just doesn’t want to listen. Bartlett knows ‘em rules back-to-front. Guus of the weak goes to Nadal. Smith’s pretty good today.
(SEN promo for The Run Home indicates that Peter Sterling was interviewed on S.O.O during the week - no shortage of Rugby League yap on SEN)

10:00 - 10:15
AFL: Heath Shaw interview

10:20 - 22:30
AFL: Rick Ladson interview
KB requests fans to let him know who they wanted interviewed; first time interviews with Shaw and Ladson.

22:40-22:48
Get Something Off Your Chest [talkback]: AFL rules gripe, again, and KB‘s having none of it; AFL, AFL (Richmond should tank musings); NRL/Ch9 coverage griping; AFL/Ch10 coverage griping; AFL {shock} Richmond-Wallace angst. Wallace’s home must surely look like a bikie compound.
Seems to be the listeners deciding AFL is the desired topic - what’s SEN to do? Duh!

22:52 - 23:00
Cycling: Another subject KB seems right on top of.

23:00:23:18
Basketball: Lindsay Gaze interview on dire NBL/Kings’ developments - and sound bite from M.G. interview with Andrew Bogut. Gazes (make money covering NBL) want league saved; Bomber fan Bogut (makes millions in the US) says scrap the league for a year. Bill Brownless adds usual drivel.

23:23-23:34
AFL [Nathan Bourke]: all things AFL. Bourke says he never doubted there would be another 100-goals-a-year player and states something about it was only because there wasn’t a player capable to do it in the recent past. Doesn’t mention “hands in the back” or “hitting of the arms” by defenders. Hmmm, Bourkey’s smart enough to know not to take on KB about the rules stuff.
KB makes good point about players being too lovey-dovey-smiley with their opponents after final siren; Bourkey agrees. Good issue. Why is it the players do that then as a group switch to sombre woe-is-us faces when leaving the ground past the “ticket-buying” fans?

23:40 -11:55
Around The World in Sport: [S.S. American [13:40-23:48]) Alright, Salisbury on the job. He’s quick to state his dislike of Lakers and NBA referee Donoghue’s malfeasance. No embarrassing “Billy Crystal/Yankees” type gaffes by Steve today. But steroids story falls a tad short on guy who “feared for his life” and topped himself coz it leaves out the fact it was sadly a murder-suicide. Not so much fear for his female victim. Tisk tisk, Uriah.

tiffany-alpha-cherryblossom.jpg

Attention S.S. American: please take note Mr. Salisbury of the defined advantages that Miss oo-la-la Cherry has over you covering US sport with SEN’s most important demographic. “Born In The USA” or not, you’re always starting behind the 8-ball when she got 10-pins like that. She can be a hit with the troops; you’ve got an accent.:D I wonder if this picture found its way to the guy doing the hiring at ESPN? :thumbsu:

[11:48-11:54] Soccer: all things English/Soccer with regular correspondent.

Finishes off with quick quiz. Fine effort by KB.

The Bad Oil, 12/6/08
12:00-12:35
Cricket: Hoggyyyyyy and all things cricket. Doran and Hoggyyyyyy in light-hearted banter, and the former speedster seems more interested in finding a date.
Physio appointment this week to coincide with the not-missing-much Doran show. :)

Taking the risk and hanging out for a Rubbo appearance later. Ox better be better than the groaning, oohing, and ahing on TV.

23:00:23:18

throw in tim's contribution "andrew, essendon are looking for a big man to partner david hille"

unlikely.

The Rubbo Show

Orr yeah, I just reckon Collingwood will finish on the bottom - Rubbo, 2007

Gotta luv Rubbo: scholastically talented enough to be a journalist…enough said. But what a pearler footy bloke he’d be to get on the grog with.
Tuning in at 17:15 for anticipated journalistic gems from Rubbo

Soap Box
17:15 - 17:35
Well, this could have been expected - Richmond/Wallace angst. The Ghost cuts callers off left, right and centre - all deservedly so, I might add.
This stuff’s all over the place. Mostly just crapola.
Where’s Rubbo?

The “orr gee you know ohhh I dunno” Rubbo Show
17:43- 17:51
The hero has arrived -and that sure was a lot of commercials.
Rubbo cracks the oysters and the pearls begin to fly:

Interview with Bomber David Hill.
Rubbo: “Now when Terry Wallace spoke yesterday about dynamics at football clubs, and he said they’ve got the wrong dynamic at Richmond, can you give me your imprecation or your description of dynamics within the team, and did Essendon have it at the start of the year; when did you find it, do you think you’ve got it?”

(Silent pause)

David Hill: “That’s a very difficult question. Ahm, ahm, we have a very strong dynamic at our club…”

Rubbo - “Did Matty knights - we all talked about his game plan all year and it’s been one of the talking points of the year; half time, quarter time of the Richmond game, the week after, I think was another three-quarter effort, and they’re probably putting in three-quarter efforts at the moment; did Mathew Knights change his game plan from the second-half of the Richmond game onwards?”

David Hill: No, no, no, that was, you know, ha, that was him ahhhh, application of the game plan by the players…”

The man is pure magic, or, he’s been on the turps with Geezer radio’s Jim Wilson earlier in the day.

And does this show drag along! And commercials - sheesh.

18:07-19:00
AFL teams: Rubbo picks Essendon; says they “can beat a team without a stand-out super star,” The Ghost and Ox disagree - take Eagles with authority and stats. Rubbo grumbles.
“Giansiracusa is the best peeler-off-era…” - Rubb-inson Gold.:DSweet!

His voice is heading up-tempo, and tips WB to beat Lions as do others.
[talkback]: Rubbo challenged by caller on the Franklin beating Essendon single-handedly statement. Rubbo destroys caller. There’s more comers - Rubbo hangs tuff on opinions. Anticipating Jim from Hawthorn any moment, but there’s no harsh tones to be heard.

Ox attacks Rubbo - epithets ahoy.

[talkback]: Caller belts Saints’ Schneider-man for being soft; too much to too few says Rubbo. Rubbo and the Ghost side with caller.
Hawks to do Crows at AAMI,; faith in Hawks from Rubbo, as does the Ghost. Still no Jim from Hawthorn - he must be listening to Geezer radio.

[talkback]: Caller defends Riewoldt tapering off in form - Ghost knowing all things Saints dismisses caller without pity.
Rubbo at Ox again and doesn’t think Port can win…Collingwood to win all round…The mighty Dees against Tigers for Oxy, Rubbo takes Tigers with the Ghost. Show finishes with Rubbo correctly pointing out Malthouse hypocrisy.

This all-AFL 90 minutes fizzled out a little. Without Rubbo, forget listening to any Thursday “Run Home,” better off waiting to “Get Home” for teams and stuff with the Great BT on Fox Footy Teams.

Fine’s show will rehash the same stuff until the TV guy gets on. Nick Holland, Nick Jewell and Geoff Poulter on deck. No thanks, Prozac required for Poulter. AFL mostly on a Thursday night is a fair cop.

One day’s research to go. Salisbury’s broad-coverage claim is a KG slam dunk for sure.

bp is one of the best at sen and he has done big things for the all night sport since he took over.he does much more than lazy tony shibecci ever did he got rid of shibeccis restaurant mates from the fedish bar who were only because they were shibeccis mates he has got rid the agitator and he got rid of mark franklin and made a few other changes so all night sport is all good now.bp has made it much better already
LOL, a fanboy til the end :) Does anyone enjoy the local footy show? I can't get my head around it - they bring no special knowledge of the leagues to the table, they just read out scores from the paper. What a waste of an hour!

Bring back the Agitator, the discussion that guy brought up was fascinating and much better than that muppet Mark Irwin.

Yes, I listened for a while, but ended up turning it off........just not interesting at all.......And thats where ED + STEVE are different....they make their talk of the american sports INTERESTING to listen too, not just rattling off scores...so that even if you are not particularly into those sports (OR e.g. local footy) it is still easy listening..

surely that's a transcript cause its right on the money. you've got everything down pat, the language, punctuation in odd places. sums up one of robbo's Q's perfectly! :thumbsu::D

incidentally montybrasco, put this one in today's summary of MG:

they had new wallaby coach Robbie Deans on. andy asked the the first question, totally relevant. then billy chimes in with "i hear you love aussie rules". tim enters the fray with "what skills would you take from AFL to improve your game?"

Nicely ended the interview with Andy asking very nervously "so are you one for a running game or a kicking game..." The lack of knowledge of the sport could have been spotted a mile away.

I woke up to hearing Andy and a little input from Billy talking to someone (Jason Smith?) in regards to the NBL's problems. At the end of the interview and Andy closing it off, Tim chimes in and returns attention to AFL with the umpires. Was half asleep so can't remember the exact words/topic.

Hungry For Sport - 13/6/08

09:00 -10:00
AFL: KB’s rant is only the faithful can save the Dees not Jim Stynes who replaces the speechmaker, Barak Oh-Gardner. What stirs emotions at your club is the topic. Grunk’s back - “rabbit out of the hat” time for Melbourne - the very Melbourne that Grunk tipped to make the eight this year. Never have shed a tear for his Eagles, says Grunk, whom asks “how many non-Melbourne fans willing to boost Dees membership.” Putz Smith’s paper article gets a mention about AFL had-outs to clear debt. This save-clubs stuff must be gutting the wrong-place-wrong-time Fitzroy fans endlessly. Grunk’s back on other teams’ fans possibly buying a Melbourne membership next year. Check out the cost of school fees, petrol and groceries you idiot. [talkback]: Guy playing 50th game for West Coburg gets a mention as stirring emotions - from his mother. Grunk tips his Eagles to top Dons.

10:00 - 11:00
It’s time for one of the better hours on SEN for the week: ding, ding, KB vs. Brian Waldron, with Greg Swan off the subs bench for Balmey. KB‘s “hottest talkback segment in sport“ and any sports topics up for discussion.
[interview]: Lee Freedman on horse racing.
[talkback]: AFL Richmond angst off the bat, AFL, AFL (Richmond-Wallace angst), AFL (Richmond-Greg Miller angst). Forget players having security guards, what about Plow and Miller? AFL, (Richmond again), Telstra Dome roof and the sun.
Pretty flat today, as KB lets Waldron off the hook on S.O.O./Storm players fiasco.
Nags-bloke interview does little to fire up any talkback other than AFL.

11:00 - 11:40
Golf Rap: self explanatory segment with Mr. Double Entendre from Wednesday night‘s schedule. KB antagonizes Mark Allen about Anthony Hudson having golf gig on Channel 10.[talkback]: mostly about Hudson having TV gig at Allen‘s expensive. Funny segment; KB doesn’t let up as Allen hams it up, too. US Open talk gets Allen all serious and the show’s host clearly knows his golf.

11:47 -11:52
On The Punt: Matt from Simon Beasley’s picks winners(?).

Finishes off with quiz. KB taking a week off; Schibeci next week.

12:00 - 16:00
Decision time: to Doran or not-to Doran one more time. Hamstring’s feeling better and illicit money streams are still strong this week. So I’m feeling confident on the coin toss on whether to listen to Doran. Call heads for no-go; comes down tails. Drat. Misplaced confidence on a coin toss but I decide to cheat and just turn the radio off. ;)
Back to the (meth lab) work on Monday.

Forget any further debate, SEN’s broad sports coverage is indisputable. Case closed.

Well at least next week we'll get some variety in the morning.

Dr Turf & Richo for breakfast followed by the Schibecster

Dr Turf is always quality - he should be given more air time

Dr Turf works well together on Tuesdays with KB, and have done so since they had their own show on Sport 927.

He is smart, funny and opinionated. He also likes to give it to the AFL and Collingwood.

Was driving, and laughed out loud when Dr. Turf thanked Collingwood for allowing Melbourne to breath the same air as the pies etc after Micks comments on the pressure poor pies get from playing all these big games....He offered Mick some advice as to how to take the pressure off the team, e.g....play more interstate games, give the big games to other teams, just become like all the other teams, do what they have to, travelling etc.....that will ease the pressure.....It was a real hoot!!....He is very good:thumbsu:.........p.s.....SEN have 4 absolute gems they need to keep above anyone else...they are Dr. Turf, Rippa Rita, Ed + Steve...

Ha, Doran didn't correct the caller putting a case for West Coast so I assume he doesn't know either. I'm sure the Dome won't be wet from the rain has the roof most likely would have been closed.

hahaha heard that too.

That is what really pisses me off. They do no research and show a complete lack of disrespect to their non-AFL guests.

montybrasco may claim that they have broad sports coverage, but I don't believe it and almost everything still centres around AFL. The above is a perfect example. They may have a Union guest on but their lack of knowledge and complete pathetic referals to AFL are the worst thing.

So glad they wont be on MG next week, we should actually get some decent radio for once.
