You can't compare MG to Ernie Sigley's show. It is a percentage of listeners at that time, not raw numbers.

Overall SEN have more listeners aged 10-39 than 3AW. I think MG's ratings hold up very well when compared to other SEN shows. 3AW have such a good breakfast show, its very hard for them to compete, but they are doing OK.

mbp, you're usually on the money but i reckon i disagree with you on this one. i've listened since their very first show and mg is now not worth listening to. can't really put my finger on it but it's not as compulsive as it used to be. not enjoying hutchys little cameo on there either. billy still shits me with his lack of knowledge of everything bar afl (did you hear his commentary over the weekend, very ordinary generic type of comments) and tim contributes far too little and seems to want to put on the highbrow type of humour which doesn't seem to work with their demographic. i have the ipod on the radio in the car at this time of the morning now, wish i didn't but dont feel compelled to tune in like the old days.

the half hour with hutchy is just a re-hash of the headlines from Footy Classified the night before...which I'm guessing over half of the MG audience would have already seen

I didn't actually give my opinion of the show in that post, just said that the ratings are respectable.

To be honest, I don't reckon the show has changed a whole lot since Maher joined the show. Maybe that's a bad thing in that if you aren't improving, you're getting worse.

Gotta love hearing Robbie Flower on the radio, he actually had a great and decent and surprising sense of humour

Yeah the GBU crew is still pretty good, but Friday Morning is my favourite with the Agititator back with the guy from Feddish. Great to have the Agititator back, I love it when he totally bags Andrew Demitriou and Adrian Anderson.

Yeah francis did well but I'll suggest he will pay for it. I went head to head with Ed at the 2005 AGM and I found Ed just kept trying to steer the topic away from my point so I just waited for him to take a breath and interupted him as he did me to bring the topic back to where I wanted it to be.

I'm now worried Ed could be making things worse for Collingwood than better. Never thought I would say that!!!

Basically Frank had been saying that Collingwood were offering to play these games at the Gold Coast but not sharing the pain by using home games to do it. Eddie came on (they said he had called in, to which he grumpily retorted that they had called him so what do they want...) and started getting a bit personal with Frank about it all (e.g. telling Frank not to wet his pants, very mature that one Ed...) , but Frank stuck to his guns and in the end Eddie basically admitted that Collingwood probably wouldnt sacrifice a home game but would expect other clubs to...

did anyone listen to fineys quiz last night? some guy rang in said he didnt know the answer (i think the Q was which foreign player has scored 100 premier league goals?), then after a few seconds of umming and ahing he said Bruce Eva. The dump button was hit as he said Eva. Finey wasnt happy and said that its hard enough to write 20 questions each night, but if idiots like that ring in then they can stop the quiz and just do interviews with no callers.

Frank is the best sports interviewer going around and I miss him dearly in the arvo spot.

Yeah, that one comes out about once a month and I always get a good laugh out of it. I remember one night Finey asked "Ranjid who was a test cricketer for India?" and the caller answered Bruce Eva. Finey went silent for a couple of seconds before mentioning that the caller was a smartarse.
