mbp, you're usually on the money but i reckon i disagree with you on this one. i've listened since their very first show and mg is now not worth listening to. can't really put my finger on it but it's not as compulsive as it used to be. not enjoying hutchys little cameo on there either. billy still shits me with his lack of knowledge of everything bar afl (did you hear his commentary over the weekend, very ordinary generic type of comments) and tim contributes far too little and seems to want to put on the highbrow type of humour which doesn't seem to work with their demographic. i have the ipod on the radio in the car at this time of the morning now, wish i didn't but dont feel compelled to tune in like the old days.
You can't compare MG to Ernie Sigley's show. It is a percentage of listeners at that time, not raw numbers.
Overall SEN have more listeners aged 10-39 than 3AW. I think MG's ratings hold up very well when compared to other SEN shows. 3AW have such a good breakfast show, its very hard for them to compete, but they are doing OK.
