As much as I disagree with the caller in the "Your Shout" section, he did get proven right by Doran how Melburnians are ignorant about other sports. When asking him what team he follows in the Rugby Union league, he referred to it as ARU rather than Super 14s.

Most Sydney kids could name you the top 5 teams in S14, NRL and AFL.

A lot of Melbournians don't even know the difference between league and union and just call both rugby.

Doran doesn't have a clue either.

Special shout out to celtic pride on how teams like barcelona were going to murder man. utd in the champions league. :p:p:p:p

I doubt they would be getting 100 thousand a year as well.
I would say the Morning Glory team would be getting closer to the 200 thousand dollar mark a year.
The likes of KB Mark Doran Finey and maybe Phillips would be closer to the 100 thousand mark.
The money in the media these days is as good as most 9 to 5 blue chip company jobs where 100 thousand plus is standard.
The papers this week when writing about Todd Kearny the dancing judge and his overdose story said he was desperate not to lose his radio breakfast job where he earnt 650 thousand a year.
Tim Watson and Billy dont need to be getting up at say 4am in the morning they have enough on their plate .
Its not like those hours would be nice to be getting up while it is 3 degrees outside , especially when you would be well paid for your tv work already.
I have a mate who knows Watson and he says Watson likes his $$$

I doubt Finey would be getting over 100 thousand. I'd say maybe 50 grand for finey maybe?
Spoonman who does the same hours as Finey but broadcasts to the east coast of Australia often says he ain't getting as much as he could be. Hard to say what he'd be getting considering he says he could be at a corporate gig but i'd imagine spoonman would get around 100 thousand broadcasting to the whole east coast of australia. With Finey broadcasting to just Melbourne i'd say around 50 k would be more the mark.

The guys on earlier might get more due to more people listening in those hours...

It is surprising how little they are paid!

$50,000? A year?? That's his bar tab at the club!

Who cares how much any of these guys make? You can speculate all you want, but you will likely be way off.
Some of them are entertaining and good value for money, while others performances probably don't deserve what they make. Bottom line is, they are getting paid to do what they love.
I do know the highest paid radio personality in this town is Ross Stevenson and the highest paid in the world is Howard Stern.

I think I have a rough idea of how much it costs to get Watson to speak at your company night .
Even to get footballers to a sportsmans night at our local club it cost upwards to a grand each and that was even after you told them it was to raise funds.
They are for functions that last only a few hrs and at a convenient time.
Morning Glory is 15 hrs a week over five days and getting up at 4 in the morning , the other hosts have longer programs.
I still think they would be getting closer to what I suggest as it is still a profession and they are being paid for their skills and expertise.
I could understand maybe when SEN started it might have been different but Watson and Brownless know what they are worth, as do the others at the station I am sure .

Just making idle chat Doc .
Like most of the posts here and anyway just like with who gets what in the AFL , does Fevola deserve what he gets , does Judd deserve what he gets
Fans love to speculate about who is worth what and who gets paid how much and thats what we are doing here .

bp not 100 000 but $ 99 000 :thumbsu:
peter macato $ 75 000
gb crew $ 25 000 each to steve and troy
erwin ? $ 15 000
gladiators $ 20 000 each to them
local football person show ? $ 10 000
stoney $ 15 000

these are for the whole year and not for each week or show of course

LOL at those figures.
Divide by 10 and I think you would be closer to the mark.

Don't think the minor people would be getting much. After all the audience after 9pm is very small so they don't really care who is on. Have a listen to any AM station after 9 and nobody would be getting ginormous dollars. Presenters during the day though get the big $$. Think that is true for every station.

Ol' Dave from Stkilda has been rabbiting on about friggin big brother on a sports program. Crapping on about some midget 2 nights in a row, notice Brett remind him that it is a sports station. he drives me insane that pompus twat!!

This bullshit of getting the night shift lads to work for nothing is bloody awful!

When Tony Schibecchi was doing overnights he said one night that the gladiators, the thursday terrors (not on anymore) and the GBU Crew didn't get paid.

Just wish those two yanks would talk more AFL:mad::mad:

Do you really? Instead of talking US sport? Footy is discussed, ad nauseam on every other show except the Diegos. It is nice to tune in Sunday and hear them crapping on about gridiron, NBA, etc after a long weekend of footy.
I think they are good presenters and would do a good job talking footy..or movies or travel or gardening for that matter.

Couldn't agree more with you mate. Those guys are pros. They can talk about most topics with intelligence-more than can be said about most radio presentors.

One of my favourite shows on SEN even though I am not a huge fan of all american sport.

Most footballers and cricketers at sportsman night come cheaper when paid with the cash in a enevlope. I can name a few that I know of details that were paid cash in hand and at times where there managers knew nothing of the details.
