The MG boys replayed the Doran-Thomas interview this morning.

Handled it perfectly. Said they thought Maxy has gone down the wrong line there. Who in their right mind wouldn't think coaches are entitled to have holidays? Hutchy who was on at the time said there must be more to the stouch than that cause Doran's attack was pretty uncalled for. I had actually heard Robbo say before that Grant Thomas refuses to talk to Doran.

I still dont understand what Doran was on about...why shouldnt coaches get holiday pay? Did he say that they shouldnt cos they are still talking and dealing with footy issues during that time? Either way, he made even more of a goose of himself than he normally does...i cant believe he has held his job for this long, he MUST have some good photos of the boss or something..

What's more astonishing, is that he thought that the the fact coaches get holidays was the biggest part of the story. Before Grant even called in, he was on to Robbo for ages about why he didn't ask Thommo last week about why he gets holidays.

Don't worry about the fact that Thommo actually won the case against St Kilda, as they had broken his contract.

Does Doran think Kevin Sheedy never took a holiday in his 27 years at Essendon?

I haven't been able to listen to SEN at work so have little idea about what's been happening during work hours, but every single full-time employee is entitled to Annual Leave (Holidays).

The players get a few weeks off during the off season and a few days during the season with the split round and such.

Why would coaches be any different?

On Hutchy this morning, didn't he say last week on TFS that the Swans had offered Fevola a deal? This morning he said he sticks by his story then state that he doesn't believe a deal had been offered.

Does this bloke have part of his brain missing? Doran is speaking to James Molino, Vic Sports Minister about the Grand Prix. Molino said at the start that there is a confidentiality clause regarding the licence fee of the new contract. Then Doran asked him 4 times about how much the licence fee was and of course he couldn’t answer. Does he know the meaning of the word “confidential” or not?

Part of being a journo I guess. Keep asking in hope they slip up and give you an answer and suddenly you'll have the story of the day/week.

I do recall him asking Harford for who his source was one time saying if you don't tell us then we can't take you seriously. Then when someone asked him for his source, he said "You can't reveal who your sources are".

I don't see the problem with asking if he'd been drinking.
It's a fairly obvious question to ask when the club says he'd been at a club function and then somehow he doesn't see a tram late at night.

Fair enough. I'm probably being cynical but given his priors I have to question Thompson's motives for asking it. As Greg Miller told him - completely irrelevant at that stage. Had it been a few days after when it became apparent that Polak would be OK (and that's not 100% even now) I wouldn't have had a problem. What annoys me is that one of Richmond's best players was in a coma in hospital and pretty much the first thing I hear is this goon looking for more ammo in him and Doran's footballers and alcohol beat-up.

I disagree. I am23 and I love the gladiators of sport. It is a great entertainment show and it is great listening to what they have to talk about. Are you confusing it with the GBU crew? Cos I would agree with your points if you were talking about that show.

Another young person here who is a fan of The Gladiators as well.

Know Howard through football stuff and he's a great guy, always got some interesting yarn to tell.

Peakey has good things to say too. :thumbsu:

I'm probably confusing the two shows. GBU Crew

Poker show on SEN now.

ETA: This might be the last chance I give the show. An improvement would be to do the show without phone calls, just SMS and emails.

BEVA's BACK

Heard an ad on Sport 927 this morning for a new show hosted by Beva.

Only problem is, if I heard it correctly, it's on at 5.00am Fridays

Do people know why he left SEN?
Apparently he was source of numerous email complaints about another presenter in an attempt to get that presenter sacked.

Don't believe the rumours put about by the radio station. He was entirely innocent and given the arse in the most brutal way possible even though he had good ratings and knew the most about sport at the radio station... and it looks like the w***ers who run the joint are going to get off on a technicality

Heard an ad on Sport 927 this morning for a new show hosted by Beva.

Bruce 'Beva' Eva is back on the Melbourne airwaves. Started last Friday he now hosts a weekly half-hour show (5.00-5.30am) on Sport 927 called The World Championship Sports Show. It has a heavy focus on Olympics sports and any sport that has a world championship. He also continues to call footy with Brad Hardie and Graham ‘Smokey’ Dawson on 6PR.

Linky thing

Doran got his digits mixed up there. Asked whether Jana Rawlinson can get her toe cut off just like Daniel Chick and Brett Backwell...

Mind you that is after about a 5 minute chat with Scott Gullan who spoke about how the toe is fine, but she has related back, calf and planta-fascia problems.

Scott Gullan is always good, they should give him his own show leading up to the olympics.

was listening to SEN before and a show called "Winning Matters" hosted by Harf, quality sports betting show!

how long has it been going for?

It was the first show tonight. SEN is under a bit of a program shake-up in the late-night slots in the lead up to the olympics, the Tour De France and the four diegos having a seven week break.

Andy Maher this morning showed what an ignorant tool he really is.

In his 'Radar's Roast' he took aim at the idea (touted by Greg Inglis' manager that he could be a NFL punter) that Greg Inglis could be a punter in the NFL.

He claimed that Inglis "never kicks for the Storm" so it's ridiculous to suggest he could be a punter and that 30,000 people playing another code "in the suburbs" would make a better punter.

The moron should stick to things he actually has some idea about (he'd be out of a job if he did that though). Anyone who has seen GI kick for the Storm would know just how good he could be as an NFL punter. His kicking action is very punter-esque and the amount of hang time he gets on the ball is unbelievable.

Once again, Andy has shown himself to be an idiot with a limited knowledge on anything outside the AFL.

Apparently the Brisbane Lions had Inglis on their radar before the Storm signed him up a few years ago. He is a super athlete. And can kick.

Can't believe they give Maher an editorial licence. Even when Tim did his Watto's waste, he usually did it all tongue in cheek.

Thanks to the writers of the Harvey Norman ad to let us know that the "15 cents for 15 days" photo sale is on "for a limited time only".

About two weeks perhaps?

Apparently SEN have sold the rights to their midnight to dawn shifts to Craig Hutchison...

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but the new poker show is a Hutchison idea.

Yeah that's correct, and there are more changes to come.
