Anyone know if that Frank Walker really talks like he does in the ad they play on SEN.:p
Just heard it again on the Run Home and would love to go to his store to see if he serves customers in a voice like that .

I have actually met him and he does speak like that.

i told you that bp still rules the all night sport and makes all the moves and calls the shots. instead of the important australian hockey match that channel 7 have on the tv bp is doing the poker show. bp must love his poker to do the poker instead of the olympics and he must be in charge go bp go

I've got a feeling the poker show might be a paid spot for SEN.

haha, do you remember that caller from QUmar that thought the world cup would be played at Optus Oval and Bill Clinton would be Carlton presidnet :D
I heard that - BP or whoever was hosting the show that night actually took it seriously  That guy was awesome, put on the fake Indian accent and managed not to get out of character despite the hilarity of what he was saying :D

Nothing will ever beat Christian from Mt Eliza's rendition of 'Watermelon Football' .. It was part of Wacky Wednesday on Tony Schebecci's show, where all the hoons and clowns rang up and just acted like tools ... Ben from Mount Martha did a really 'stoned' version of the Brady Bunch song as well :D :D

Speaking of callers, whatever happened to Jason from Boronia that used to call into the morning program, I think it was back when Garry Lyon was hosting it. He was a West Coast Eagles fan and seemed a bit simple...:D

Still calls in every now and then. Called in late last week to let the MG boys know it was his birthday.

It used to be every day without fail in the early days. Especially used to like him doing his tips on Fridays. No matter who they were playing, he'd tip Melbourne Victory, Melbourne Tigers, Melbourne Phoenix, Melbourne Storm...

how funny was that Matt Thomson buying shirts in the markets over his phone you could hear the chinese lady haggling with him on the run home ,
very funny stuff listening to it live as I was coming home today:)

Yep, that was very funny.

Also very interesting today was the interview with Raelene Boyle on MG, when they asked her a question about Tamsin Lewis...

Very cutting:"Didn't hear it (re Tamsyn 's post race melt down) but lets talk about a real athlete, Sally McLellan." Ouch.

The MG boys were genuinely thrown off by that, very amusing radio. I thought it was a fair question, but gotta love how Raelene said so much by saying not much.

Have to say that Ray Hadley would be the best commentator of all time!..

Seriously, he puts such emotion and excitement into his calling of an event...

Nicole Livingston is also excellent ...

Could listen to them both all day....

Congratulation SEN on a great coverage of the games..:thumbsu:

Jon Ralph with his regular spot on MG commenting on the media and in particular the Olympic coverage this week. bagged Phil Liggert for making too many mistakes and bagged Pat Welsh for trying to get attention for himself with his post race interviews.

This from a bloke who now gets his photo next to all of his articles in the HS, appears at half time on Ten's footy coverage and gets his voice on SEN. And as for mistakes, he wrote just before North's first match on the Gold Coast this year that we were only playing one game up there this year as the rest had been moved back to Melbourne (we played three at Carara this year).

Pathetic comment from Raelene.

Sure Tamsyn may not have won an Olympic medal, but how does that not make her a "real" athlete? She won the 800m World Indoor meet this year, she had funding from the VIS and Aths Australia removed and had to fund her own way around the world in order to qualify for the Games.

Jane Flemming said it best (and her comments were taken out of context), people shouldn't expect Tamsyn to feature in the medals because she just isn't at that level. There's nothing wrong with that, that doesn't make her any less of an athlete.

I don't think anyone in Aus expected to see Tamsyn win a medal.

I read Raelene's comments more about personality and attitude than running ability and performance. She highlighted that Sally is very determined to succeed and is very focussed on doing her best. She's obviously sick of the histrionics that go with Tamsyn.

"debt free would sure be nice, but all i gotta do is call debt advice".

does anyone remember how when it was first played, it was a short ad?

then they thought bugger this, people are catching on, let's make it longer? i remember driving home from work and just as the ad was about to finish up the next verse started!

That lady who spoke in that ad had the horniest voice ever! I think her name was Donna. Would loved to have met her!

Since you are all throwing well deserved praise around, how about Mark Doran's call of the US v Aus hoops game last night? As someone who has listened to hundreds of games called, Mark did a good job.

Dunno if i can agree with u there. I listened to half on SEn and half on ABC and the guy on ABC (Peter Walsh?) was much better and had a much broader basketball knowledge. But each to their own i spose...

Peter Walsh goes nuts at the basketball on the ABC.

I listened to Lakers Radio during the play offs earlier this year and every shot that went up was met with a loud "GOOD!" or NO-GOOD!".

Sorry Steve, didn't hear it, but I have previously posted that I thought Mark Doran has done a great job as well..

All concerned with the olympic coverage should be proud of their efforts..
