Please get his mummy to take James Whiloughby home.
I fell asleep with SEN on last night and woke up to hear James saying he had some exclusive story on Ben Cousins.
Next I hear him saying something about The Herald Suns Mike Sheehan and the headlines Richmond not going to draft Ben Cousins.
I go back to bed thinking well Richmond you have blown that.
Wake up get the paper from my front door and it says Cousins IS going to Richmond.
How many times do we have top go on about the lack of sporting knowledge at SEN amongst some of these lesser lights.

I was also listening last night and that is what Willoughby originally reported. However, about 20 minutes after annoncing the Mike Sheahan article, he corrected his original story and said that the HS was reporting that Richmond WOULD take Cousins. He reported that story was coming from Damien Barrett. So I think we should give him a break on this one, he did get the story out eventually, and I am pretty sure that SEN would have been the first radio station announcing the Barrett story.

I agree with that. Later on in the morning James said that he got news of the supposed Mike Sheehan exclusive from an SMS sent by a listener. You need to have a much better source that that if you are to go to air with an exclusive.

Nothing personal against the boy and I am sure he is a very nice young boy.
But I couldnt imagine watching the first five mins of Ch 9 news and hearing Peter Hitchener say that they had an exclusive that Ben Cousins would not be going to Richmond and then come back on after the weather and say sorry but the text they got was wrong information.
I posted it her before if there were not so many goofs and bloopers and dumbass mistakes on SEN then this thread would be half empty.
I have listened online to Talk Sport in England and I can tell you the host they have after midnight could be the breakfast host and vice versa if need be.
The biggest probem SEN has is it has a mixture of very good hosts and others who are hosts or are just appear on SEN that seem to be not up to it.
When you listen and you say to yourself thats wrong or thats not right more days than you dont ,then something has to be wrong about the place.
SEN is the best sports radio station in Melbourne but it is also the only one so it doesnt have anyone to beat , it could be crap but it would still be the best if you know what I mean.

I listen to 3AW at 6pm for one hr then come back to Finey and I cannot tell you over years of listening to Healy and Russell of ever hearing any ridiculous mistakes.
Its a small world as I was at a xmas party where a lady friends partner was there and he was someone who works at one of the other stations that broadcast AFL and he laughed when I told him I posted here about SEN and all of the mistakes.
he pretty much said that SEN had some of the worst production and technical support people in the radio business , many that wouldnt get a job at his or other stations.
Now thats just his opinion but I cant argue with him when I hear an ad the other day on SEN for the Swan Hotels brownlow medal night function coming up in a few weeks and to book now

Mind you their budget is probably 10x SEN's. They have a heap of staff working behind the scenes and they even screen their talkback callers "to get a balanced view of the issues".

Sure, SEN could get better producers, better technical staff and a higher level of broadcasters across the board. If they did that, they would last all of about 1 month. They dont have the money and never will have the money to get the best. I for one, am happy they are around. I can live with the mistakes, at least I get to listen to a sports station whenever I like, I don't have to wait til 6pm to get my sports fix.

I have been critical of many things SEN have done and do, but I don't think having a crack at their production and technical levels is that fair. Limited money=Limited resources. They still manage to cover a range of sports and get to the big press conferences.

Willoughby made a mistake with making the original call about Cousins, hopefully he learns from that experience and wont do it again.

I was talking more about the talkback callers though. Last year when North were contemplating relocation, they would ask callers whether they were for or against relocation and even though most callers were against it, they put to air about a 50:50 mix... then Derbrain Russell pipes up with, wow, it seems the North fans are 50:50 on this...

I've always found those SEN Sports Central updates really annoying...until this morning when as usual I woke up and turned the radio on, only to hear them go to and ad break with no SC. Hurry up and bring it back!!!!

IS it just me or does "Steve from Mill Park" ring in a number of times a day but use different names each time, he has a fairly distinct voice and I am sure I have heard him introduced as different people.

He must feel embarrassed calling in 5 times a day so throws up odd names without realising everyone can here his distinct voice.

We are having our Christmas dinner and opening all of the presents tonight so tomorrow is free to listen all day to the " Year in review ".
I found that last year to much talking and noise with everyone at our place having lunch and you missed out on hearing some of the weeks and months highlights.
Be keen to know if anyone else will be spending all day on Christmas day listening to " The Year in review ".
Probably have a sleep soon and try to wake up at midnight and go the whole way through with it from start to finish.
Its going to be a long haul but worth it as its the only day all year you get to hear it.
