Agreed. Problem is, SEN must think that people still want to listen about AFL. Personally, if I don't hear anything for the next couple of months on AFL I would be fine with that. However, there are probably a lot of people who do want to hear what they have been doing at training, how good they are going, the best shape they have ever been in, etc. Don't ask me how that is interesting to listen to, but it seems to be to a lot of people.

There is plenty to talk about including Cricket, golf, upcoming tennis, Premier League, NFL, NBA. However, most of the presenters don't no that much about those sports and wont spend a whole lot of time on them.

i remember pre internet days, when all we got re: pre season was in the papers, used to get excited about reading a snippet of afl team news. now its practically overload. that being said during the off season we should still have devoted timeslots (1 hr say) to cover all things afl.

sen should give us the minimum afl stuff so as to get our excitement levels up as we draw closer to the nab cup!

did anyone else hear finey last night getting callers to suggest new words to replace the overused word MUPPET? couldnt agree with him anymore.

Problem is after one presenter gives us a bit on AFL, the next presenter will do the same and so on. On the weekend after the Melbourne Victory game, they were talking Soccer/Football and were getting sms sent in to talk more AFL.

They'll always be people complaining no matter what.

lol tony schebeci trying to bluff his way through another sport he knows nothing about... couldnt even read simple nba scoreline, result was Miami Heat 100 Def. Charlotte 96.
But schebeci had to try and make it sound fancy and completely stuffed it up by saying "the dolphins 100...beat charlotte 96. Good on you boys!"
miami dolphins are an nfl team tony.

unrelated topic - personally turn off when motorsport comes on. dont mind the sport being on SEN, i think it has its place.

I have to disagree. I didn't hear his poll/agenda or whatever but I think Willouby is a very good on air guy. I post on a football forum he frequents and he seems to speak his mind which I think is a good thing he also is a p4etty good interviewer.

I try to listen to his soccer show each Sunday also who else here is missing BP i wish he would do some more shifts I think he would be good doing the good oil what do others think?

Also I agree with above posts I am sick of Poker show it is so boring and so crap. Download me if that is true what you say that is a shocker.

Definately got potential no doubt. Disagreed with having a poll with the Victory currently 2nd [league that has a salary cap] Had someone on last night doing the sport updates who was awful. The nights have become intolerable, just cross to sportstalk or even replays of the days shows. Brett Phillips was a good operator. As for poker I'd prefer dead air on my frequency thanks

I heard that while at work and I know nothing about gridiron or nfl but I do know that the Miami Dolphins are one of the most famous gridiron teams around.
When i heard him say it i was thinking wow he seems like he really knows the NFL but then I said to myself hang on Miami Dolphins are the gridiorn side not the basketball side .
He sounded like Steve Martin and John Candy in the film " Planes Trains Auto" when they were saying " How about those Bears " trying to impress they knew alot about something they didnt.

The past few nights after midnight, there has been full coverage of a Poker tournament in Sydney. It is incredibly frustrating radio. It bores me no end, I want to listen to sport, not bloody Poker. I enjoy playing a bit, but listening to discussion on it for a few nights in a row now has peed me off. Please no more. One night a week I can handle, but not this.

When i have heard it everyone seems to be a winner , I would like to hear them interview some poker players that have lost their house or their life savings and done their backside off , but everyone on that show wins

Ok, just listened to the Crappest hour of radio i have heard on SEN in a long time. Just as worse as the nick slade/luke o brien affair last year. there was two guys on hosting cutting in over the top of the other and generally sounded like they had been plucked from the local community station. And guess what they were doing? Not doing calls or any talk, replaying ****ing intervirws with absolute nobodies.

'Best of Steve Salisbury'. pfft. if Steve misses work, sruely SEN can find a fill in? also i was driving round late ona friday night and the poker thing was a farce. simply, a shit show. again an Amateur host and the lines keep being distorted and SEN do nothing about it.

i hope going into summer, SEN don't persist with crap ideas (replays of interviews of people with no substance) and crap hosts

The replays have been my big bear for so long now and they have made their way into the daytime , hearing someone talk about how they think they will go at beijing is just so out of date to hear again.
Mark Dorans super sensational summer sizzling golden ripping replays just dont do it for me as do any replays , as I listen to the station nearly all the time.

Last post for me , give someone else a turn .
The biggest problem that seems to be brought up here is the basic lack of knowledge of sports of so many that we listen to at Sen.
If I go to a bank I expect that every teller and person behind the desk knows what they are doing , but lately at Sen there are so many that you listen to and you say thats not right or does he really know what he is talking about.
I am not saying they have to be professors or have a degree in their sports, take Finey he would be great at any sports trivia night you would have him on your team any time but half the others seem to be either ill researched or have very little knowledge.
How can that be at a sports radio station ?
I am sure there would be those at Sen that must hate this thread but if they didnt give fuel to the fire that is this thread mentioning gaffes and mistakes this thread wouldnt exist .
if even half the mistakes mentioned here are true then you have to ask yourself whats going on

Ahhhhhh..... Schebeci!!! It's a miracle he can pronounce his own name correctly (actually I think he stuffed that up as well). He has no idea!!

I hate driving to work and listening to him butcher the names of every team when reading the Champions League scores!! It's unacceptable, he has to go!! Sadly his lack of a clue is not unique for an "all sports station".

Funny you should say that, Schibeci is actually pronounced "ski-be-chi" in his native Italian :)

The lack of respect shown to sports such as NBA is terrible, it's not like there's much going on in the world of Aussie sports at this time of year. I know many people who follow many different sports and have a decent knowledge of them all, and it's not even their job. Why can't a similar James Willoughby type exist in the afternoons for SEN?

What in the world!?

Poker show again?

They've crossed to two guys sitting in a Sydney hotel watching poker on ESPN.

Someone reading this forum must have some stroke at SEN and can Bluff-off this stuff.

Ha, I got up the other morning and the KB 09:00 - 10:00 hour with Putz Smith going through his top 10 Goose of the Year was being replayed. It got to No. 3 and they ran out of time with the news cutting in.

As peternorth posted the other day on how they can't time interviews properly, they can't even fit replays in. Wanted to hear if Putz gave himself a mention.

Jon Ralph has reported today that Eddie will do 8.30am to 10.00am, KB 10.00am to 1.00pm and Mark Doran 1.00pm to 4.00pm

interesting. although during footy season i wonder how bearable eddie will be in his own show (collingwood stuff).

one thing i like about eddie is that when his mind is set on helping promote other clubs (via his media role), particularly during the membership drives, he is very good

I thought of Monty Burns trying to show his common touch with Lenny and Kar; when he said "How about that local sports team"

This is the article:

COLLINGWOOD president Eddie McGuire is increasingly likely to host a heavy-hitting, 90-minute morning radio show on SEN next year. The show would run from 8.30am-10am.
McGuire would be fighting for listeners with 3AW's Neil Mitchell and 774 ABC's Jon Faine.
Richmond legend Kevin Barlett's show would be pushed back an hour and run from 10am-1pm.
Mark Doran's afternoon shift would be pruned by one hour and run from 1pm-4pm.
McGuire has called AFL games for SEN this year, but has been keen to expand his radio presence.
SEN continues to make slow but constant progress in boosting its ratings.

So effectively half hour less Andy and Tim and one hour less Doran... may be a popular change in these parts.

When it came on last night, I felt like messaging in telling them to pee off and get off SEN, I am sick of listening to Poker. Overnight's has become unbearable.

I think it makes a lot of sense to cut his show by an hour, it would be hard to fill 4 hours of radio 5 days a week. I would think it could make his show more interesting.

Eddie will be great on SEN. He will have great interviews and has got a lot of pull in Melbourne, so it would be great radio I think. Unless there was a Collingwood controversy, then there may be a bit of bias.

Pathetic by Tim & Andy this morning, who couldn't conduct a serious discussion about the news of the Fed Govt granting the FFA $46m to bid for the 2018 World Cup.

They spent about 3-4 mins asking what exactly the money is used for and making poor jokes about bribing FIFA executives.

No discussion on the benefits to "Soccer", the benefits to Australia, no effort to get anyone from FFA on to discuss it (not that I heard anyway).

Not surprisingly, they quickly turned the discussion to some meaningless AFL story.
