So even when a sport is on during the late morning, he fails to watch the whole thing.

I sent him a SMS telling him that Ben had won and not SAV and calling him a fool.

I also rang him about the song.

He said it's a perfect song isn't it. I said it may be perfect, but it's already used by another show on the station. He said he found out about that on the weekend. So clearly he has never listened to OWAAT, and when he was told they already that song, he has still chosen to use it on his show.

Heard you today. You were giving it to Doean about using OWAAT's song but he kept on saying what a great song it was.

KB and Mark Allan today were fantastic. KB can be a very funny man when he wants to be. He kept giving it to Marko for not marrying his girlfriend and how Indian he looks. Must say I was LMFAO in the office and getting a few funny looks. Same on Friday when Andrew Gaze was on Casual Fridays. That was good stuff to.

I know their are alot of Doran bashers here and I am not usually one of them , but that is an unbelievable mistake to make.
I have no interest in American gridiron but I even asked my son to to text me the result when I was at work as he was watching the game.
I just checked the text he sent me and it was around 10.49am.
Mark Doran had more than an hour to know the correct result or for his producer to have informed him of the result however it works in radio.
Apart from the tennis starting Rocca v Benny was the biggest sporting news this morning and it would almost be like saying Geelong won this years GFinal an hour after it finished.
How can the host of a sports show on the home of sports not know the correct result

I was wondering where I had heard that music when i heard it this afternoon and you are dead right , from saturday nights on SEN.
I posted here last month that I met someone at a party that worked at another radio station that broadcast the football.
They told me that SEN has easily the worst lot of behind the scenes production and technical support staff of all the radio stations going around and this example along with out of date advertisements being played , microphones not being turned on etc etc seem to back that up.
That theme music would have had to have been requested then collated and organised by those who do that job at SEN and it also would have had to have been put onto a computer or whatever they use etc.
For no one to pick up that they have doubled up with the same theme music as another show on the same station is absurd.
Then again maybe about to start something , Channel Ten News tonight is using the theme from Neighbors from now on at 5pm.

Happy 5th Birthday to SEN. While we criticise and there are faults, it is great to have a sports talkback station in Melbourne that we can listen to. Can't believe its been going for 5 years and I have been listening that long.

I think Finey had a very sublte dig at Doran's new theme music that has been stolen from OWAAT. Finey mention something along the lines of and 'it's good to hear a new theme song for the Good Oil today.....I am sure I have heard that song somehwere before.' I think it was a dig, good stuff.

How can the host of a sports show on the home of sports not know the correct result

It's because SEN has developed an organizational culture amongst many of it's on air broadcasters, whereby doing little research and having poor sports knowledge is seen as acceptable. You only have to look at Doran, Brownless, Watson, Maher, Schwartz, Lowther, Nick Holland, Daniel Harford, Tony Schibecchi, Matt Thompson...ect for evidence of this.

If I were running the station, then I would expect every presenter to be knowledgeble on sports and to actively do research. I couldn't see the likes of propper professionals, such as Brett Phillips, Mark Fine, Francis Leach or KB making a mistake like Doran did today.

Embarrassing mistake by Doran, I know he'd have a lot on his mind running a radio show but surely before you deliver your opening statement, you check the final result? Incredible.

I take it the new theme song is "What's on Your Radio" by the Living End. I haven't heard the show in a while, but it's a song I associate OWAAT with. Using it for another show would be like using the Seinfeld theme song for Scrubs.

I've listened to Roy & HG for the past 2 work days and they have been hilarious.

David Schwartz makes me laugh with his music reviews but that's about it.

Forget the sports coverage - half arsed.

Have to agree, i'm quite hopeless and radar is no better...after listening to Dorans Superbowl ballsup, song pinching then interview with Robbo, i was wishing for the summer crew to be back. Doran was talking to Robbo at the tennis, he sounded like he's rather be in the bar, i think he said he'd rather be watching a game of footy. At the end Doran goes "come in next week and we'll talk about footy" or something along those lines. Although KB drives me nuts defending the new rules his willingness to embrace different sports and do a bit of research put the others to shame.

David Hookes died on the day that SEN came to life.

I didn't listen to SEN yesterday, but it doesn't surprise me that Doran stuffed up again. What does surprise me is that he still has air time.

Doran has blocked my phone number so that messages I send to the station are blocked and cannot be seen. I'm surprised he was smart enough to figure out how to do that. I thought it was strange that none of the SMS's were being read out for two months, but I found out the other day when I called one of the producers and asked him if he had received a message from me in regards to the Western Bulldogs rumoured to have signed a massive sponsorship deal (this was on Friday before it came public). Producer told me that there was no record of any messages like that, and no messages from my number for over six weeks. I've probably sent in 25-50 during those six weeks as well.

I'm convinced it's Doran because I sent him an abusive SMS when Cousins was drafted by Richmond because he stuffed up by saying there were two players with prebious AFL experience who were picked up in the pre-season draft. He clearly hadn't heard of Skipworth having played for the Crows. Since that day none of my messages have been read out, and now I know why.

At least I know after many abusive messages I have sent that he couldn't handle the internal pain anymore.

I thought that when I listened today at work that I would hear some sort of a different music theme but it was still that same one from the Saturday nights.
Mark Doran and his producer must still be in holiday mode or be just to lazy to change it even after it has been clearly pointed out for the blooper it is.
You would have thought the powers that be might have also realised the doubling up and quickly stopped it.
Very strange when you think how many thousands of songs are available these days .

Andy Maher raved about how good a movie Slumdog Millionaire is and how it is based on a true story. He even told the first few callers who said it was based on a novel they were wrong.
