Caught the end of Doran's show yesterday.
A caller rang in to comment about how bad the Chelsea players and fans reacted after the Barcelona match, and he said "yeah the FFA may have a look at that..."

man schebecci is the biggest dud presentor/announcer ever, for years i had to listen to him on world sport overnight bluff his way through knowing about various sports and stuffing up when reading out simple scores and headlines.
he did it again today when reading from a simple headline re: troy selwood and rances head collision "Michael Voss has praised JOEL selwood....." i just had to shake my head and lol

That's not really showing a lack of knowledge, but just an every day accident that you or I could make. Sometimes you may be thinking of one name but you end up saying a different name. I've been guilty of this many of times, and even when people correct me I have to think to myself "did I really say that?"
I actually find Tony to be a well researched presenter. I don't know how he'd go presenting the station without doing research, but from what I know and have heard of Schebecci he seems to know a fair bit of stuff. There are some presenters who could (probably sometimes even do) turn up to host their show without doing any research and they do a fine job because they really know their stuff (BP and Finey instantly come to mind), but he doesn't have to be at their level to get a gig on the station. Just listen to Doran and it's a perfect example.
To be honest, I never thought much about Schebecci in the WSO days, but he has since grown on me. I don't always agree with his views, but that's what makes him interesting. I recall perhaps two/three years ago he was having a debate with a listener about Richmond, and Tony said, "I'd rather Richmond finish in last position than in eighth position and get knocked out in the finals immediately."
Now everyone knows most teams set themselves the goal of making the finals every year, and most teams will think anything more than that is just a bonus. You play footy to make September and if you miss out it's dark days. But in Tony's eyes he'd rather see his team get the first pick in the draft than have pick fifteen in the draft for finishing runners-up. I don't agree with this view, but it's one of the many things he said that I certainly found interesting.
The best piece of Schebecci magic came when he was trying to teach Billy how to pronounce Brett Deledio. After fifteen minutes, Billy still couldn't say it properly, and he still doesn't pronounce it properly to this day.

This basically confirms that the AFL have some sort of a stake in SEN. I have been listening to SEN since it began but this really pisses me off. Thomas was great to listen to, voices his opinion and even though I don't always agree with what he says, it makes it very entertaining radio. Big mistake SEN.
