While listening to SEN this morning it was interesting to hear that Bangladesh had beaten the Windies for their only second win, as if it was a big deal.

Something was missing here, I thought.

In the last hour Schebeccs (luckily no Mutt today) and Doran were doing the sports hour discussion thing they do, and a surprised Tony announced the Bangladesh result with that "WOW" inflection.

Something was still missing, I thought again.

Tony muses in the discussion that things might not be bright with the Windies heading out to Australia this summer, based I guess, on the Bangladesh result. Doran comes in with comments about the juices flowing once they're here. So things will be alright. Yada , yada, yada

What was missing? Not amateur hour, that's for sure.

Not a mention that the West Indies players are in financial dispute with their board. No Gayle, Smith, Sarwon, Simmons, Chanderpaul, Nash, Ramdin, Taylor, Benn, Edwards, Baker. The entire 11 from the last Test against the Poms - no show.

With the IPL increasing the money stakes of world cricket, and Doran loathes T20, wouldn't the Windies dispute be up Doran's alley.

Nup, Doran's staying with "juices" The on-air yap again leaves you wondering why am I listening to this.

You know Doran has no idea that the Windies are on strike!

What a lost case. He kept on getting the names of his contestants wrong during the trivia challenge today. To do it once can be excused, but three times during the Trivia Challenge? Come on...

Not surprised Doran has to be the most illinformed media broadcaster of all time. You'd be happy to know Schubecci thought that if the ladder stays as it is Freo get the first pick! Text message quickly fixed that up.

At least Doran talks about sport most of the time, except on casual 'bogan' friday with Rita and 'former Hawthorn champion' Harford.

I'm getting so fed up with Leech and the Ox, today on the Run Home, they kept going on about crap like 'manicures' 'male grooming' and other metrosexual bullshit.

And that 'beer o clock' segment they sometimes have as well is really stupid as well.

Why do they keep talking about 'irrelevant' crap most of the time ???
I think they have 'replaced' Doran as the most irritating hosts on SEN (and I'm deadly SERIOUS)

I sort of agree. I always use to finish Uni when they were on and while I was driving home they would gradually start to annoy me. They seem to add the SEntertainmentN side of things to the station. I agree with you on Beer o'clock, that guy who talks about movies (don't know if he is still on) was boring, Francis always craps on about politics and news of the world issues. Then Ox would come up with a conversation topic for half an hour like 'the worst wedding gifts you have received' or 'most embarrasing moment', some are funny but I want to listen to sports.
Maybe they find people are tired of talking about the daily sports topics by then. That was often a minor problem with SEN, from Morning Glory through to Finey they mainly talk about the current sporting (AFL) news so once you've heard it 2 or 3 times throughout the day you lose interest.
However, Doran will always be the most irritating.

I agree that TRH adds a lot more entertainment topics in their show. And I understand why with the points raised in the previous post. An example of this was yesterday with the tanking issue. It had been talked about all day on SEN and when they opened the Run Home with a segment also on the tanking issue, I had had enough and switched stations.

I don't like the 'Beer O'clock segment,' as promoting alcohol on a sports station really stretches it. But they probably get paid by some beer manufacterer who pays a bit of money to SEN to run that segment.

At least they put a different spin on it by wanting euphemisms for 'tanking' and any jobs in general.

I throw my hat in the ring of that booze segment is pretty friggan boring and I have tuned out of it for quite a while.

not a drinker so beer oclock is boring to me. particularly when ox takes a swig, theres a pause, then a comment on the beer. i see why they have it on, the demographics....

if you wanna listen to sports talk i guess most of its on during the morning and early arvo. u said it urself, most of the topics are covered 3 or so times a day. that itself becomes boring.

i find the movie segment interesting.

its a balance the station will never get right, entertainment vs sports.

It's a no win situation. Those that listen all day will complain if they continue to talk about the same issues, whilst those that listen in during the afternoon only will complain as they're not getting the sporting discussion.

I can assure you, that as someone that listens to the station 24/7, some topics can be discussed in different formats up to 5 times a day.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Francis Leach is an excellent presenter and so is Ox.

TRH has the best ratings on the station so obviously what they are doing is what people want to hear.Leigh Pattch the movie guy is great and knows just about anything to do with movies/tv shows. I've tried to speak to him a couple of times and couldn't get through. The only two times I've called SEN and haven't got through is when he is on so obviously plenty of people are calling in. I work in a bar so the beer wench is good too but I can understand why people might get bored with it.

I haven't heard him this year but last year I thought he was starting to lose his credibility. He didn't seem to know much about many of the questions he was asked. Just seemed like your every day football supporter.

Each time I've heard Greg Denham, I've thought it was Malcolm Blight......they sound so much alike..
