The most annoying thing is how when the lottery gets brought up they always say how it isn't fair that the team that finishes 9th gets the same chance as the team that finishes 16th for the 1st pick.

FFS if they are going to talk about the lottery system they should at least know how it works.

I agree, the lottery system is not the difficult to work out, e.g the lower you finish on the ladder the more lotto balls you have in the draw.

Now the more complicated system to work out is the the Lewis Duckworth system in cricket.

Does anyone know if the AFL handout prize money for finishing in a certain position at the end of the season? I don't mean for the finalists but all 16 teams.

Remove the priority pick and increase the gap in prize money for each position. They have heaps of money which they are handing out to the GC and WS teams.

i feel that last season tanking was brought up (in the nba), in previous years not so much and certainly not to the extent of the afl.

but yes essentially the same thing occurs. major players put into surgery, rookies and scrubs getting more minutes.

an exception however was orlando resting its stars in their final game(s) of the regular season cause their seeding was wrapped up already.

When they first started talking about tanking on SEN a few weeks ago, I sent an sms in saying it is a boring topic and it happens every year. Yet, weeks later the media still goes on about it.

Does anybody actually care if a team was tanking? They are at the bottom of the ladder for a reason, they are no good. I wish the media would focus on issues that are worth discussing, especially as we are leading up to finals.

correct, every year its the same thing.
i reckon every day there's maybe 1/3 afl stories that arent worth the paper they're written on. it seems that stories are written/printed/spoken of just to fill up time.

Yeah, but tanking isn't guaranteeing the #1 pick and there is no double-dip priority pick.
