Just something for Matty Granland.
Love your work as a play by play announcer on the AFL. Clear and accurate and doesn't go over the top (unlike his colleague Anthony Hudson who is calling more and more like Rex Hunt every day - but that's another matter).
However, one point. Matt is filling in for Andrew Maher on MG the last few weeks. MG is supposed to be a lighthearted show and it has worked well the last year particularly the chemistry between Watson, Maher & Gaze.
But, the last few weeks have been disappointing. Granland seems to take every subject so, so seriously and it seems to me that Watson and whoever else is the co-host have to work extra hard to get some light banter out of him. Now I'm not wanting Matt to go completely OTT and be a buffoon like Brainless used to be but he needs to find the right balance for this type of show. In other words, he has to be flexible.
Otherwise I'm afraid Matt will always find himself hosting those afternoon Saturday and Sunday non AFL weekends for the rest of his career.
