Yeah definitely, this was a huge loss.

They should look at networking Dave Smith's show. He's lower profile than Dan Patrick and he helps out on Finey's show. He does a show with Mychael Thompson the former Blazer. If they could air it from 10pm on Sunday night as just snippets from during the week it would be good listening even though we won't be able to contribute to talkback.

Helllooooo it's Frank Walker from Nationaaaaal Tiiiiiles

Why does Frank offer a lifetime guarantee on his tiles?

Tiles don't have any working parts. Unless you go out of your way to cause them damage, perhaps with a claw hammer, they won't break.

I'd love to get back to Frank in 50 years and tell him his tiles had developed an operational fault & needed replacing

I was listening to 3AW pre-game today and Jason from Boronia called up to ask about his Eagles.

It's been ages and ages since I've heard him on SEN, used to be a MG regular and loves his WCE.

Tim Lane must be a SEN fan as he knew who JFB was and welcomed him to AW, thanking him for switching over.

I'd say any Football follower, regardless of which station they work for would tune in to SEN when they can.

Here comes 'Global Gameday' with Scott Cooney, or should I say, The 'Plug Baycity Holden hour' with Scott Cooney.

Steve from Mitcham is officially stalking Dermie, he keeps ringing up and whining about any anti Geelong comment Brereton makes, please let the Hawks beat the Cats in a couple of weeks, I swear Steve is the biggest tosser I have ever heard on SEN

God I hated the American crap each Sunday; worse night of the SEN week.

You would be the only poster here to not like BUSA......I loved it, yet wasn't the slightest bit interested in US sports....it was Steve and Ed, and the way they made those sports that I'm NOT interested in, interesting..

They also came across as normal guys who had taken to the aussie lifestyle and sports, also didn't yell at you into the mike like most americans seem to do either on telly or radio....and I loved their wacky humour..

IMO they made sunday nights and I always looked forward to their show.....as did a lot of others..

I wish they were still on air..

Nah, I hated it too.

i rarely listened to BitUSA but im sure it was good to listen to when needing info on USA stuff. it served its purpose in that respect.

i also respect and understand those who didnt like the show. fair enough. perhaps they dont like american sports (or an american show on sports).

id like to raise an issue regarding australian sports reporting - particularly footy. pat smith said it well yesterday. some days news is fabricated cause its a slow day. other days its not.

i think this is prevalent in footy. moreso on sen because

(a) its a 24 hour station. lots of air time to fill
(b) we love footy
(c) ex afl players need jobs

with regards to (c) i've been thinking about it a lot recently, and it at times has vexed me. we see people like scott lucas (who talks in cliches) get a gig weekly to sum up the round. dean laidley the same. robbo too. can see why stories need to be embelished given how repetitive the airways become.

thoughts?

Can I ask why? Is it because they werent talking AFL like the station does 90+% of the time>

Pretty much, yeah.

In saying that I thought they did a good job.

Certainly better than current Sunday night's with a surfing show or whatever it is.

Actually, it's more so because on Sunday night you've just had the weekend of footy, and that's all you want to talk about.

Any other week night would have better (bar Friday and Saturday for obvious reasons)

I understand that and would personally didnt like that BUSA was on a Sunday because it clashed with the F1 races.

I've personally thought that Monday or Tuesday night would be best for a BUSA type show. Allows them to talk about the weeks NFL games and seeing as how Basketball & Baseball play throughout the week there would be stuff to talk about from those sports too.

SEN management really should think about convincing Ed Wyatt to get a show going in September/October when the new NFL and NBA seasons start (assuming they arent both in lockouts :( ) and putting in on from say 10-12pm Monday nights. Im sure Finey can figure out a way to move the "team talk" hour to somewhere else (like instead of that stupd selection dissection hour with Peakey)

To each their own, I suppose. Born in the USA was a great program. Steve and Ed were great broadcasters. The best on SEN. They informed and educated all of us on US sport. Even when they spoke about Aus sport, they had opinions and made sense. Music, pop culture, frat stories from uni. It was the most interesting show of the week. It would be great if Ed does something similar to Born..again.

I agree with this whole heartedly. In fact their show was a model for Sports Broadcasting. Laid Back, Knowledgeable, did not treat their listeners like idiots - should be emulated. Steve and Ed - come back please

Bit hard for Steve to come back to SEN given that he moved to Sacramento ;)

'

I know, I know, more's the pity

Not sure whether either them are inclined, but technology allows radio duos to broadcast the same show from different locales. The show Hutchy does with Pickering was done whilst he was in NYC.

If there is a will, there is a way. Which takes us back to initial point...whether they are even interested.

I work strange hours at times and have listened to US sport talk via the web. Many of the shows I have listened to don't have use the model you talk about above. Steve and Ed better than most of the shows I have heard.
