Schibecci...*facepalm*

For me, this guy is a news breaker who gives you facts. Not an opinionated-type host - which is what he is atm.

Seriously cringe at some of the views he gives...

SEN in Summer = Fail.

(Except Finey and the ANA! Haha)

They were comparing One-dayer and T20 yesterday, paraphrasing "Don't like one-dayer as much as T20. The problem with one-dayers is that there's a boring period in the middle, about 15-25 overs where they're happy to take 1's and 2's and make around 130. They've got do do something about that"

The guy has no idea what he's saying, he's not happy with a run rate between 5.2 and 8.6! In a boring period too! And they did do something about that "boring period"..."they" thought up of T20!

Actually, I don't know if it was deliberate or not, but the last hour of the show today, when Dr.Turf is normally on, was a good hour. Talked about 4 sports, at length, with an "expert", motorsport, golf, cycling and...footy. Not so much worried about what sports they were talking about or whether I like them, but it was a varied hour and it actually held my attention throughout the whole hour! As opposed to coming in one ear and out the other, I'll give him credit for that.

I doubt it...he was going to be a jockey, like the rest of his family, until he started to grow in his teens..

He then turned to athletics.....and went on to win the Stawell Gift..

So a caller is a guest on the show? They're struggling to find people are they?

Not just any caller, but a bloke that has nearly sent 20,000 text to the station.

That is why Finey is so good, because he actually relates to his caller/listeners and can interact with them.

Wayne is a tosser at times, but I have no problem with him being in the studio.

Finally, something we agree on

Technically yes.
But it also means that I ever did go "campin'" I would remember the name of the place of the ad that I really hate and not purchase one of their said "campa" trailers.
I do a similar thing.

When advertisers deliberately use the tecnhique of 'make the most annoying ad possible so it sticks in peoples minds' I deliberatley avoid making any financial contribution to that company.

In this instance I don't think that's the case, just unintentionally annoying.

Yeah, Shebecci: sheesh! Ya gotta wonder how someone like that has a gig on radio. He may be a good bloke, and apparently has good knowledge of motorsport (i wouldn't know), but crikey!
He sometimes struggles reading, has a 'gurgley' voice (it sounds like he's got tonsilitis or something stuck in his throat), and doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in there. I mean, the amount of things he stuffs up (which get replayed by Hutchy, et al) is a bit too much for someone who gets paid to do what he does. :p

I remember one of his worst; it was about Cousins writing his memoirs, when Shebecc said: "Cousins may be working on his meng-mars." I mean, how the f*** to get that out of 'memoirs'? :p Could it have been a typo?

Wasn't his previous job at an abattoir or something like that? I think that's where he's better suited.

^ I'm pretty sure he does most of the updates from the studio. Yeah nah, it makes ya wonder why it's necessary to have an extra person in there just watching tv, but I guess it's preferable to have someone focussing totally on the game.

i was pondering that today. i mean say its the boxing day TM, people would be listening to the ABC surely. maybe those who cant get ABC tune into sen for smokeys updates? nah surely not

ive said this before in this thread, but the standard of the media/journos has fallen over the years. i put this down to the advent of the interwebs. the public are better educated now, and can access news at the drop of a hat. we dont hang on every word of the average journo anymore.

this is somewhat related to another theory i have.

across the radio spectrum i have noticed hosts and guests saying "yeah it will be interesting...." when discussing a future game, player or team performance. it is as if they are not 100% sure about what they're saying so are sitting on the fence somewhat. for example - ponting/husseys spot in the test XI. host may say "they've got credits in the bank but are clearly struggling....yeah the next test match will be interesting".

again, they dont want to go out on a definitive argument because information is so readily available for contradiction.

thoughts?

Schibecci always sounds distracted at the end of each segment. Seemd like he is reading something to prepare for the next segment whilst closing out the current one.

Not that I'm qualified in Marketing but, apparently, sometimes with an ad campaign, the aim is to establish "presence". I think this is a new company, or a small one. Comparing them to Ray's Outdoors for instance, they would have no presence in the "market". When you think Simple Jack reckons it wasn't deliberately annoying, some others may take it that way as well, so it's not so bad. I'd like to repeat, I'm not qualified in Marketing.

does smokey dawson go to each cricket game or does he just sit in the studio and announce score updates from the web/tv?

it makes ya wonder why it's necessary to have an extra person in there just watching tv,

I get the impression that Smokey's presence is SEN's toned down version of "jobs for the boys", "boy's club" thing. Not as bad as CH9 cricket or The Footy Show, but still. Otherwise, I can't see a reason for him being there.

No, he doesn't...no...no...just making sure that you know, with certainty that Schibeci does not have a good knowledge of motorsport. Hell, even you and bedford would know better...well, maybe not bedford!

i think dawson was on sport 927 with kb before too. your theory sounds sound.

I doubt it. I think he does have a good knowledge of motorsport, I mean he attends pretty much every V8 round ffs. And for anyone who is genuinely interested it's not that hard to develop knowledge.

I think he just tries to dumb it down a lot on SEN which makes him sound like an ignorant tool.
