The Son of Leachy??? That happens to be me, and im flattered that some of the SEN audience know about what team I barrack for.
Only just joining the bigfooty forum and laughing my head off at some of the claims made in the SEN thread I couldn't help but join. More than half the stuff is complete utter crap. But then again never let the truth get in the way of good story - that's why they invented online forums. You know you've made it once people spread complete utter crap on bigfooty. Just to clarify I am not the bloke who speculate to be me on this forum and if you want the son well here's the real thing.

Regards,
Dylan Leach
firstly welcome to the forum.

Hi Dylan,

Welcome aboard.

Being the son of Francis you are in the perfect position to help us answer a few questions:

1. Can you confirm your Dad made those comments in the Herald Sun article when he first left SEN where he proclaimed himself as 'one of the best broadcasters in Australia' ? I think most people here think he is a fantastic broadcaster, but if true, was it necessary for him to big note himself?

2.Can you tell us why Bruce Eva was sacked?
As you've probably read in this thread there was a rumour that there was some kind of disagreement between your Dad and Bruce? Is that true?

SEN presenters and management have been very quiet over Bruce's departure, hence all the rumour and speculation. Both your dad and Bruce are excellent broadcasters so the truth behind it would be good to hear.

*Francis made those comments in the herald sun but was mis-understood like many newspaper articles. He probably has a right to say that and the time he left SEN was probably for the right reasons. As did Dermott and many people behind the scenes there. I did work experience at the place when the place was struggling and was almost sent to the tribunal as the reporter - thats how desperate it was. and the original pitch of Vega was something that was right up Francis's ally. Unfortunatley it didn't rate what-so-ever and turned into a horrible jukebox station playing nickelback and phil collins stuff that Francis could do so much better with. So he went back to SEN in where he is doing a fine job with ox despite my blantant bias.

* In regards to Beva: I don't know the full reasons. If I knew the full reasons I don't think bigfooty is the place - as much as it is a gosip paradise.

* Also if you want some fine football programming may I suggest you tune into Kicking Behinds Fridays from 4pm on SYN 90.7fm, it's great.

who are those guys on SEN between 12.00 and 1.00 Monday morning. The CPU CREWWWWWWWWWWWW or whatever is said, a lot of people get excited.

I know it cracks me up. Good radio :thumbsu:
It's worth listening to just for Milney's awesome yelling - he really has passion. And even though I'm trying to get to bed, I often burst out laughing when he unleashes that "GBU CROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!". Or when that Wayne from Geelong does it - bloody hilarious.

Thanks Dylan - appreciate the reply.

I think it is important to know that the huge majority of people who contribute to this thread really want SEN, and the people who work there, to succeed.

Many people on BigFooty were listening in to the station on the first day it broadcast till now. We've heard them make that ill-fated move to Adelaide, go through various presenters and shows, but also their terrific A-League and AFL broadcasts.

Some may think Billy Brownless is a sexist pig. Some think he's hillarious. We all have different opinions. But we all want SEN to succeed. We want a sports station to remain part of the Melbourne radio landscape.

In a way, the feedback on this thread is far more valuable than any radio rating survey or market research can give.

As an ex SYN volunteer, I have heard your show a few times and it's good listening - so, keep up the good work.

The 7 second delay button was used today when herald sun and SEN Mark Robertson on the Mark Doran show started (what I can make if it) hinting players names and clubs of what allegedly drugs use. It came bak to air if with Mark Doran trying to play down the situation of what just had occured

Good on Robbo for having the balls to say what he think not like others :thumbsu:

If the Thursday Terrors are so good tell me why they are never on when BP does the show.
I am sure he said one night when he was filling in for Tony that they would never be on WSO when he is on and he hasnt backed away from that.
Still think BP is better at doing everything Tony does and more.
Tony still seems to have his tired and lazy moments more often , in not paying attention to what a caller asks or just giving an um or an mmhmm but with BP it is never anything but 100 percent :thumbsu:
Yeah i remember BP saying that too.
I don't know why he said it.
It might just be conflict between him and one of the personalities.
I still like them though.
They may be a bit too hard hitting for BP.

They are probably not everyone's cup of tea but they are now my favourite 2 hours on the midnight to dawn program on SEN.

Hey if any of you listened to the GBU crew the other night Tony mentioned that the show has been getting a lot of good feedback from the bigfooty forums. So he must read here sometimes.

He must be reading all the people bagging the hell out of him too.

Hope BP is on for good whatever the reason he is back for Tony , so much better.
But notice again Gladiators were on , but no Thursday terrors , I am sure BP doesnt think they are worth having on as they are never on when he is on for Tony but the rest of the week stays the same

Not sure how phillips would be able to make those decisions himself as i am sure they would be made by the program or line up mgr for any shows day or night 24/7 , not sure how phillips or even tony s would decide who comes on or doesnt come on sen to be on programs.
They have people employed to do that at sen unless phillips is part of the programmers now

Luke and Mark are back tonight. 2 weeks ago i think they put on the best show in the history of SEN, that probably makes no sense to those who didnt hear it, but it was gold.

I'm sure they read this thread too, where's Brucey and Disgruntled been? They are my favourite callers. "When the Houlihan's were playing footy in the backyard, was the mum the hardest at the ball?"

I definately think they have a niche, on the weekend nights when things are more relaxed. There was one guy who rang up and called them women for talking too much or something like that, was the most rediculous call. The banter is what makes the show great, and SEN shows need a point of difference and not have everyone being the same.

How will SEN cover the finals series, Was that Hutchy that I heard over the weekend calling for SEN 1116, I think it was on Saturday night. Another veternan and good caller in Smokey Dawson was on 3AW on Saturday night too.
