Put Brett Phillips on the afternoon shifts to replace Doran. I'm sure Phillips gets paid less than Doran.

I dont listen to WSO when Tony is on, so im not missing out.
However, if OWAAT is gone, then i will be doing some protesting.
same
the thing that pisses me off about it all is that whenever shit like this happens they pretend like everything is normal, if they were so professional and wanted respect they should grow some balls and actually come out with the truth to their listeners rather than hoping no one notices what just happened
maybe guys like rob harding saw the writing on the wall and got out when they could, cant blame them
From Mark Franklin on OWAAT Forums.
"I'm sure that for anyone attending the function tonight they will find out more than they are supposed to!
Nah just joking, there's unfortunately not much more to it than what Zam said above. Management recognised that there would be a backlash but it is a (cost-cutting) business decision.
They need to run the station profitably and WSO was hindering that goal.
I expressed my disappointment particularly in regards to the product identity, (as Zam touched on) and I should add that management genuinely shared my disappointment. But SEN is a business and the figures don't add up.
As for OWAAT well we will be on from 7-12pm Saturday Nights right through Summer, which we are really excited about. And thankfully you will still be catching plenty of the Sciabecster on SEN doing 'On the Grid' and in a bunch of new roles.
I'll see plenty of you tonight, and no doubt we'll talk more then!"
This gets more F**Ked by the day
Lets get this straight
-Shibecci and BP get taken off without any chance for them to tell us a thanks or a thats it for WSO or whats happened
-Mgt at Sen say nothing at all
-Mgt at Sen dont reply to our emails -well nothing from that de fazio person to my email
-Sen official website still says WSO is on each night
But the first statement we hear about anything comes from a part timer in Mark Frankiln who hasnt been at Sen anywhere as long as Shibecci and BP.
And on an unnofficial Sen website as well.
Where does Mark Franklin get off saying things like " WSO was hindering that goal or Sen is a business and figures dont add up " surely this should have been stated by Sen mgt on the Sen website and not by a weekend part timer on his own site.
And for Franklin to be even laying out the plans for what jobs Shibecci will be doing in the future again on his own non Sen website is so out of line.
I would have liked to have seen BP do this Saturday show but whatever is happening Franklin shouldnt be the one telling us this and its just making the Sen mgt and the Sen website both looking more stupid
What is the exact website address to read where these comments were posted as I would like to have a look
With sen going to ground and having a no comment seige mentality about it , it is surprising that this Franklin would feel the need to break ranks and post this on another website and be the spokesperson for why it happened and what will be happening especially if he contradicts the actual; sen website
Typical of those running sen letting a boy do a mans job , the programming department at sen seem to have no public or people skills training at all

Go to www.oneweekatatime.com.au then click on forums then click on the thread saying what's going on or something like that then you will see it.
I think Mark Franklin is just a very honest bloke plus that is his forum that he has probably put his money into and it is on open forum where he can post what he wants to.
I don't think SEN don't want the public to know they are just saying nothing because they don't want to look as dodgy as they are.

Yeah tried reading it but got nowhere.
You'd think though that getting rid of staff now wouldn't work anyway since when he got the arse WSO was still on.
This is a bad move by SEN. So many of us work odd hours, WSO has a big enough audience.
This has always been my point when I've basically said "cool it" to all the people being so critical of certain personalities.....someone might just take notice and think its just not worth going on...and before we know it, we could be without SEN....that isn't a good thought.....whinge long enough and it WILL be gone......is that what you people out there want??......I think not.......perfect example.....everybody whinged about WaverleyPark, eventually AFL was convinced it wasn't wanted, so sold it.....WRONG.....but too late!!!.....we whinged to much, instead of being positive about all that was right with it........if we are not careful, the same thing will happen to SEN......overall, it is a great station, lets pump it up and make sure we continue to have a sport station....
It sounds like he knew. He wouldn't care though because as SEN said in that email, he's been offered a job in a different timeslot.I remember when Brett Phillips was on a couple of nights ago someone asked who was meant to be on tomorrow and he said ummm i don't know actually.
I wonder if he did no but couldn't say or whether he really had no idea...

The thing is, no-one hated him enough to stop listening to him, they just acknowledged his weaknesses (me included). As I've said before, the daytime role of reading sport scores suits him well, as he's a professional announcer - just don't get him involved in any in-depth discussion.Just had a thought- what if Tony decided to wrap up WSO after reading all the bullshit comments on here about it and about himself? Its always been his show and maybe after all the bad feedback and unfair shit people hang on him he's decided he'll switch to days full time?
Management might not bother replacing him if its cheaper to do reruns and the ratings don't drop too much. Who knows?
Tony reads this thread and has posted a few times and maybe he reckons the **** wits who always bag him are in the majority.
Tony had the last laugh though, finally having normal working hours (although he would no longer get penalty rates and it's doubtful he earns much more in his role as a newsreader).I always thought you were incoherent but some of the points you raised on this thread are starting to make sense.dont throw the baby out with the glass of water brother18 hours of sport is better than none if they have to cust cots to stay profitable and keep going 6am to midnight is that a better thing i think so

Yeah, Rob Harding was a good talent and good for him that he jumped a sinking ship. Smart young man he is. The way SEN handled the cancellation of probably the highest rating overnight show going around is very ordinary. If overnight ratings were measured, maybe the show would have been saved?same

It's more the fact that no notice was given. The station had to be more open about this to its listeners who were obviously abundant, not forcing us to read between the lines with the departure of Harding, the fact that this GF party was held 2 days after the show was axed, etc. (incidentally, did anyone here go to that party?)
I was a fan of the show and tuned in for the first half hour each night to get a fix of chat on the day's sport. Looks like I'll have to start making my own late night playlists to listen to as I go to bed, but it won't be the same.
Damn, missed out on that. So they've confronted the decision finally? What else did they say?Milnie just gave one last GBU CREWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
But he did mention that they will be back...i guess they are clinging onto the feeling that management reverse the decision.

As for the ratings, sure not that many people call in regularly, but that's because most are doing shift work and have it on in the background, or are listening to it as they go to sleep. After 2.00 it's mostly interviews is it? If so, just have the guys on from say, 12am to 2am. If you're only paying them $30 an hour, that's not much to part with, even for a station as cheap as SEN![]()
).what about spider what is he going to do now dudes?
