Both Kelly and Davis have decided there are votes to be had on this issue.
I think the voting patterns across the country recently have shown they might be disappointed.
I was watching TV and a news update stated that the protests on the steps of Parliament were increasing…..

Many people, for one reason or another, are not able to be vaccinated.

And many people choose to wait for more long term research data rather than have an experimental unapproved vaccine injected into their body - all of them only have provisional approval.

Your mischievous b/s needs to be called out. The vaccine is not “experimental” and the “provisional approval” is a term used for the only approval process that would have gotten the Vax into ppl in this timeframe.

Sr you can't get an exemption for anaphylxsis to an ingredient in the vaccines in Victoria - you have to submit to the first shot and suffer the reaction before they'll exempt you from the second.
It is extremely difficult to get a medical exemption here as doctors are not permitted to give them.

I'm no fan of Andrews, but they are simply following the ATAGI guidelines. GP's can provide medical exemptions provided they meet these guidelines and the GP completes the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) exemption form.

The board is what it is and at the moment it's not as much as it was. I am not so sure that people are heading for the exit rather than simply being diverted by work and the fact that nothing is happening in the football world. Lockdown is over and life is opening up. There just isn't the necessity to score debating points or try to convert others to a point of view.

It's the off season and only De Goey kept the board alive for a couple of weeks. Several posters have temporarily retired from service, but will surely return for the draft and later the pre season. This is not a time to invest a great deal of expectation into posts as you are likely to be disappointed. The audience is limited, and those who remain are largely exchanging light hearted banter. You've stumbled across a couple of posters who think there is a contest to be won, but I wouldn't be using them as a yardstick for the general quality of argument across the board.

The provisional approval has nothing to do with safety and efficacy testing anyway which are all completed. It's more to do with other issues such as copyrighting, marketing and all that sort of stuff, because they needed to get the vaccines out without worrying about that red-tape crap. It's why the vaccines weren't even named for ages after they were approved and went by names like "pfizer" which is actually the company name.

It's just something the anti-vaxxers cling to thinking that it means something that it doesn't.

Correct. The grounds for exemption are very specific and medically based to exempt people who would be at high risk from the vaccine. If you don't meet the criteria, you don't get exempted. BTW the AIR exemption form is for any/all vaccines, not just the Covid shots.

Look, I have some sympathy for people who don't want to get vaccinated, I accept that some are fearful and empathise with them, but I do support the mandatory vaccination orders and have no time for the human rights arguments. My hope is that Victoria follows the NSW blueprint and allows the unvaxxed back into society as soon as we hit 95% vaxxed, but I doubt it will happen.
