The Shane Warnes of Football: Overweight players

He used to regularly rock up training early and sit around eating a couple of pies and wash it down with a coke. Sheedy just let him go. His training wasn't that vigorous!

He was such a gun, wonder how he would've been fit. Similar to Cyril I guess.

Was great to watch.

Shane Warne was a wonderful cricketer. He was also an absolute lump of a bloke. A lump of a bloke who managed to dominate the sport for over a decade. He loved his pies and booze and hated running, hence why he was parked at slips during the fielding sessions. The complete antithesis of your typical athlete made it to the elite level of his chosen sport and tore it up.

Which fat blokes do you remember playing football ? Good player or spud, it doesn't matter, this thread is dedicated to every single Jabba the Hut that has ever rolled out onto the ground to play at the elite level of our great game.

Ps: Feel free to recount stories of fat players during your playing days, or if you were said fatty tell us how you went.
This is the same Shane Warne who got a ban from Cricket for drug use and got fines by CA for giving information to a bookie.

Maurice Rioli had a paunch as did quite a few of the clan, obesity was a big part of why Francis (RIP) past away far to early.
Yes, Maurice's older brother Sebastian was a brilliant player for a couple of years for S Fremantle in the WAFL in the mid 70s. However Seb didn't mind getting outside of a few ice cold frothies and wasn't the hardest trainer even by WAFL standards of the day. The consequent weight gain soon dimmed his brilliance.

Mick Nolan, unless I 've already said him. Galloping Gasometer, he was a good footballer a ruckman for North, looked like he couldn't run out of sight in a fog though!
But he could.

There'd be no regular senior player on a list who'd make this thread anymore.

McGovern definitely the closest in among current players.

Will be 120+ kg's a year after retirement is my bet.
