has only one seen "sons of anarchy" from some of the people who made the shield.l only have seen a few eps it looks good l would love to get the first season but can never get enough seeds to download it.l would buy it buy cant find it anywhere any else see it

Just started watching season 1 and i'm about half way through. Good enough that I went out and picked up season 2-4.

My only question is why does it get compared to The Wire. From the 8 episodes i've watched so far they are not that similar.

They are both cop shows is the only real similarity... but they are really chalk and cheese in comparison.

Bit like comparing NBA to Slamball.

I think because they were both released around the same time and broke away from the "procedual cop show" stuff that TV is flooded with.

Got around to watching the last episode, so I can finally read this thread. Pretty good ending for the most part. Felt that they dragged it out somewhat, but the last two eps were quality.

Found the final scene with Ronnie and Vic particularly hard to watch. Not that they should have any say, but I think that most viewers would have liked a better ending for Ronnie. Not suggesting that he should have got away or avoided going to jail, but just that the way it ended with him was quite awful. Probably just imagining it, but I remember him saying, or at least implying, in one of the earlier seasons, that the guys in the strike team was all he had, or something along those lines, so to see him get completely screwed over by the only remaining member, yeah, hard to watch, but I guess that comes with the territory of confronting drama...

Yep definitely agree with you there, was terrible what happened to Ronnie, I think of all the things Vic did betraying Ronnie was definitely the worst. I like to think that Vic was heading out to break Ronnie out at the end of the last episode . It would have been better if Shane got a bullet from Vic or Ronnie rather then the Chris Benoit style ending, Still none the less I reckon it was a fitting ending for the type of show it was (thinking back to Gilroy's line about how him and Vic were dinosaurs and the meteor was coming, I think from there I kind of knew things would end shit side up for) Vic).

Well, you could do what I do. Wait years for the big whiz bang entire series release without watching more than 1 or 2 episodes of a show. I had not watched a single episode (in its entirety) of Oz, The Wire or Deadwood, then bought the box sets. I'll do the same with The Shield. I plan to do the same with Third Watch and Rescue Me.

Finally decided to give it a go. Really didn't like the first few episodes and stopped watching for a few weeks but gave it another try and now I can't get enough. In the last episode of season 2.

The Wire is a totally different show the The Shield... slow and deliberate. Each season is basically one long episode, and the enjoyment is in the meticulous detail and character development.

yeah mate the wire gets better as it goes it took me to the end of the 3rd episode till l got the bug. the wire has alot realism about it and more characters gives it a deeper story line than the shield.the shield is a faster paced show.

Agree. The Wire is so very awesome. When I finally "got it" was the scene with Jimmy and Bunk that lasts about 5 minutes but only consists of the F- word.
