yeah what shane did to lemm was 2 and a half men like
the armenians were blue heeler villains
Acavedas blow job was and then fetish was a today tonight reenactment

come on dude

of course it wasn't OZ, what a ridiculous comment, it was a NETWORK cop show

and unlike Boardwalk (which had about an extra $50 million per minute per episode to play with) stuff was actually happening ALL the time, at the start of the episode and every "ad break" thats the network part

if you hate it so much, i am seriously looking forward toy our thoughts on the ending, that will be hilarious

What does that have to do with the quality of the show?

Please point out where I said I hated it.

By the way, I just finally watched the ending.... and I don't see what was so amazing about it?

The Shield was a good series. But it's not even on the same planet as The Sopranos, or even Oz. As I said, the people claiming it to be "the best tv show ever" need to get a clue.

If you like badly acted shows with silly and tenuous plots that never really suck you in because the plots and acting are constantly keeping you aware of the fact that you're watching a tv show, then The Shield is great.

If you want something with intelligent plots and brilliant acting, then look elsewhere.

Although I will say that I thought Vic's best acting performance was
in the scene in the final episode (or second-last episode? I can't remember) with the ICE agent where he spills his guts and tells everything.
In fact, that was easily the best scene of the entire 7 seasons. :thumbsu:

Anyway, I didn't hate The Shield at all. But it was nothing amazing. It could have been, but wasn't.

6.5 out of 10.

Finally finished. FMD twas pretty terrific.

Just on the finale highlight to reveal --> The whole Shane, Mara, Jackson thing really got to me in the end. Especially as it was in the DVD where they've split the finale in two parts and you've got time to actually sit there and reflect. Absolutley loved Vic's confession in the penultimate but the phone conversation with he and Shane was just nothing short of brilliant. You got hand it to Walton Goggins. Shane's a pretty terrible guy but the last few eps really made me just rooting for him even though you knew it wasn't going to end well. <--

Anyway great series. With a stellar cast with some exceptions - Corrine...

Loved how in the first few seasons where there were a lot of stand alone episodes they still didn't forget about the serialized aspects. I couldn't maintain interest in the Shield if there wasn't that serialized part to it, even if the characters were great.

My top 4 series of all time are a lock, but I think this could come in at no.5. It might be a bit reactive but the show was awesome.

Download S02E19 of lie to me if you're a fan of the shield. Watched it the other day and it has Acevada and Danny as a husband wife, Billings as an executed child serial killer, Lem as a gay pornographer (lol) and Ronnie as Billings brother (almost like Billings' dream):D

Was good to see them all again

I watched that episode when it was on TV, complete coincidence. I think there's about 4 Shield actors in the opening scene. That kept me watching.

I don't want to bang on about it too much, but rewatching the series from the beginning (started off slow, finishing the first season by the end of december, took a mini break, resumed mid january.... finished season 5 a few days ago).

The season 5 finale really got to me a great deal, don't really get affected by most tv shows (only a few for example a pivotal moment in 24 season 3) or movies for that matter, i just thought the ending was so sad. Would have loved the previous episode, to have been the finale (slightly happier, more uncertain end to Lem's character)... but i understand the end result had to be done to further the show along.

I love how references from the past, come back to the surface later on.

Have to say that i was excited over the execution of the money train, it was just cool to see how all of the planning and such throughout season 2, paid off in the finale. Kind of like having the slow build up throughout the first season of Prison Break, for them to finally break out of prison in the end. Just cool.

Instantly think of lem whenever i hear this...

LEEEEEEEEEEEEM

After 6 months of treating myself to 2 or 3 eps a week, I've finally worked my way through all 7 season of The Shield.

Magnificent.

Is The Wire a better cop show like "they" say?

Such comparisons serve only to unnecessarily undermine or belittle one in favour of the other. Is Miranda Kerr any less desirable due to the presence on our planet of Jennifer Hawkins?

Both great shows for many similar and different reasons.

If you like really bad acting, and plot holes galore, then sure!

... and I'd even put Oz way ahead of it as well.

You don't see any gross hypocrisy in this?

I enjoyed Oz too - back in the late-1990's it was probably the first HBO series I ever really saw. But it has many more overt deficiencies than shows such as The Shield and The Wire. It was almost comical towards the last couple of seasons.

I think the question is, "If I have time to watch only one show, which one should I watch now?"

I agree with you, both shows are great. But the writing in The Wire outweighs The Shield, I think that is a fair statement. The plot for The Wire is thicker, full of subtleties and continuous for at least 4 full seasons, whereas The Shield was episodic with one main storyline tying the season together.

Towards the end, Mackey's dialogue was like a comic action hero rather than a cop spinning out of control. Also, the questions on the shows nepotism effecting the quality of the cast are also valid.

I'm with you though, I'm just happy watching anything of quality (for free, no less).

Fair points all of them, and well made.

Just finished watching this show, last eps of season 7 were immense. As much as I hate seeing Ronnie getting caught, it was a fitting way for the show to finish with Vic sitting in an office, no family, no friends, no badge and only his gun.

This is without a doubt the best show ever made IMO, the best ending.

Was not a fan of the sitcom Rosanne but the last ep of that show was great also.

Anyone a fan? I am shattered to say I only just discovered it on Fox. I think they are up to series 8. Missed all before. Ignored it when it was on free to air years ago. Stupid. What a cracking show? Can anyone tell me how many series their are? Also any other info on the show...website, fan pages etc.?

7 seasons, finished a few years ago

watch it from the start, one of my favorite shows ever

strike team for life
