They can't really do a Shield movie. All the characters stories are over. Dutch'll go on investigating, Ronnie's in jail, Claudette'll be dead very soon and Vic will be doing his office job with ICE. The only movie you could do really would be Vic as a vigilante coming into conflict with Mayor Acevdea, but it'd be immensely shit.

One thing I was wondering, Would Vic have to testify at Ronnie's case? cause its not like they have any other evidence.

His confession was recorded. They'd use that.

Not really much too go on though, really just Vic's word against Ronnie's and its not like Vic is a trust worthy bloke.

But we joked about how, in the finale, Dutch would come home and unlock some padlock on a door leading to a basement and there would be a bunch of kids chained to the wall.

They should have shot this anyway and put it in the deleted scenes extras once released on DVD.

I loved the ending and I feel a bit sad like I've just lost a bunch of friends that I've spent time with for the last 7 years and I'm not going to see them anymore. Like when you're a kid and you or one of your friends moves away.

It's safe to say that no one could've predicted any of what happened. Shane really loved Mara and Jackson and that was one last act of desperation. They were never going to get away.

Vic ultimately got his freedom yet lost everything that he held dear. His family, friends and job are all gone. The final seen was brilliant and that last gesture of him picking up his gun shows us that he hasn't changed and is still the cold, evil bastard that he's always been.

The season 5 DVD of The Shield is well worth getting. At the moment it's only available at JB Hi-Fi.There's heaps of good extras on it,including a behind the scenes look at Lem's final episode which seems to go for more than an hour.
I've been rewatching the early seasons lately. God I missed Lem in Seasons 6 and 7.

The final half a dozen episodes of this series still suck.

Nah the second last episode was one of the best of the series and the last was good without being great.

The Shield is one series I never really watched but am considering purchasing. I've watched every episode of Homicide: Life On The Street and Oz, and I'm just starting on The Wire. After that will be Deadwood. And I plan to buy Third Watch when once all seasons have been released.

So, The Shield is probably right up my alley, but what is it like for someone that's never watched it? Were the first couple seasons better than the last couple? Was the whole series brilliant, good, average or otherwise? How does it compare to other series?

It is a very good show, but not a great show.

Basically about a corrupt cop in charge of a strike force team in one of the worst areas of LA. It is intentionally edgy, most of which works well, some of which comes across as a bit try hard. IMO the show's main weakness is it tries to do too much too often, thus some of it is rushed and half arsed.

Definitely worth getting and watching though.

Thanks guys. I've always liked cop shows so I'm probably going to really like it.

For those of you that actually buy DVDs (rather then download), such as TV show series and box sets, do you tend to buy R1 or R4? I've usually bought R1.

The Shield is the best show I have ever seen. This planned movie really won't have anything to do with the TV show so I dunno, doesn't work.

Sons of Anarchy is good, the whole concept is a little weird but it has great actors and a lot of potential ... plus none other than DUTCH is a guest star :thumbsu:
