Way to set Vic up for an expectation fail... :)

Its good Vic, but has little on season 4 of The Wire... which is the best season of a tv show in television history ;)
Do you really think anything can prepare you for THAT season finale?

I know virtually everyone in the world disagrees with me, but IMHO season two of The Wire was the greatest. Polish wharfies FTW!

Back to The Shield - Claudette cut her hair

I really loved the wharfie wire season as well. Can't call what my favourite season is though but overall & regardless The Shield is still my #1 show of all time.

I think I will start 2010 buying The Shield. Can think of a better way to get more value out of a $100.

Similarly LOST IMO deserves to be bought as well.

I think to fully appreciate these shows you have to have watch these shows continuously to enjoy the flow.

Thats a cheap shot at the TV stations for butchering shows telecast times.

If I am not mistaken apart from killing the undercover cop, Vic Mackey was an ok kinda cop?

Yeah I know he tortured suspects etc and stole the money train but these where crims?!

Doesnt excuse it, but I think he was ok.

I enjoyed seeing how the prostitute in the final season screwed with his head that was some good scenes. If it was a guy Vic would have smashed him.

Loved the interaction he had with a big black dude (starred in a movie opposite Jet Li).

Except for the sensational writing and acting, the choice of music was really what made the show for me, every time I hear disarm I think of the Shield, another great song was If I ever leave this world alive by flogging molly.

I remember this song yet can't place the episode when was it?

Another great choice of music was Overcome by Live at the end of season 2 with the Strike team standing over the money train cash, just epic :thumbsu:.

Now that season 2 of SoA is finished, this thread has convinced me to give the Shield another watch :thumbsu:

With the pathetic disjointed way Channel 10 has shown the Shield it will be a pleasure to but the DVD set and watch it to completion.

I have watched a few youtube clips and cannot remember much of those scenes which is good for someone about to buy the DVD set.

The youtube clip above colorfully illustrates why Vic Mackey is the perfect anti-hero cop if ever there was one. lol He would take on Batman.

I heard Disarm by Smashing Pumkins on the way home and was thinking about the episode in which Shane dropped a grenade in Lem's lap.

Fcuk can you imagine how the penny must have dropped for Lem during those few seconds when he saw a grenade land on his lap!!!!!:(

One very minor issue I have is that whenever Vic is at the hospital, he's dealing with his ex. Feels a bit contrived and unrealistic. Just a minor thing though.

In fairness though I think Vic used here as a goto person for information on victims/suspects in the hospital.

What I felt a little contrived was that she was the nurse for every victim/suspect. Then again she may have worked in MERG.

sorry for those out that there thats Emergency in Aust and ER in US.

Just finished Season 5. That look on Lem's face will stay with me for a long time. I knew what was going to happen as I accidentally read it on wikipedia but it didn't make it any less powerful.

gripping TV at its best.

I will buy the DVD set some time and watch it again, because Ten butchered the show with its telecast.

Looking forward to the first few seasons to be honest.

I remember Lem's face he knew one of his best mates stabbed him in the back, what a way to die. Tragic.

The song Disarm by Smashing Pumkins lives for me forever I thank them for that as I had never heard it properly before awesome awesome lyrics.

Why have they stopped the Shield on foxtel? Don't they have the rights to season 7?

If you can afford it buy the complete series ! :thumbsu:

Season 7 is a sad way for it to end.

Once they went down a certain path with an episode arc of Shane in the last few episodes I knew it wasnt going to be a rosy end.

It a kinda way I was hoping Vic would start a strike team with the FBI that was a morally and ethically good one.

Most likely they don't have the rights to show it yet as the numbnuts at Ten,who do have the rights, haven't shown season 7 yet.

If ten still have the rights expect the show to be shown at 2am over summer.

What a way to disrespect arguably the greatest cop show in the 00's !!!!!!

An arguably of all time.

Vic Mackey needs to speak to the bosses at ten, lol.

As I said spending a $100 for the series is the best money you will ever spend.

:thumbsu:

more likely it'll be dumped on their 3rd digital channel, whenever that starts.Season 6 was shown on Ten HD but now that's gone they haven't bothered with 7.Surely they could show it late at night on Ten.
